“ARE YOU sure?” Alfred raised an eyebrow. “You got the client back from Beckett? I haven’t received any calls yet.” He looked at his phone to confirm.
“Maybe it’s not processed yet. You know, that guy is busy. He’s doing his jobs and businesses at the same time,” Vivianne replied. “But I will call him again to remind him. Give me thirty minutes, and I will take back that client.”
Alfred didn’t immediately respond. Instead, he just looked at Vivianne as if reading her mind. After a few seconds, he finally spoke.
“Make sure you’re not bluffing,” he said before leaving Vivianne alone in the gym.
Vivianne sighed before taking her phone from her pocket. This is the last thing she wanted to do, but it’s what she needed to do. Using her personal number, she called Beckett.
“To what do I owe the pleasure, mademoiselle?” Beckett asked when he answered the call, his tone laced with teasing. “You’re really surprising me, baby. I didn’t expect you to call this fast.”
“If I agree to marry you, will you really return the client you took from us?” Vivianne asked straightforwardly, cutting to the chase.
“And I didn’t expect you to ask me about that,” Beckett was caught off-guard, but he quickly composed himself.
Vivianne raised an eyebrow. “Why? Isn’t it true? Are you just playing with me?”
“It’s true. I’ve never joked when it comes to you,” Beckett replied earnestly. His tone was serious. “Once you agree to my proposal, I will process everything this instant. But remember that after this, I won’t let you go, even if you beg me for it.”
“Then do it,” Vivianne replied before clasping her hand to her clothes. “Because I will marry you if that will make everything right.”
Beckett couldn’t contain his smile upon hearing that. It seemed like he won the jackpot even though he knew Vivianne only agreed to get her client back.
He felt irritated again, but nonetheless, he looked at the positive outcome of his plan.
“Good decision, baby,” he grinned. “Go to Syneverse Entertainment right now and meet me in the office. Sign the contract, and I will return your client immediately.”
“Contract? Why is there a contract?” Vivianne asked, furrowing her brows. “Are we getting married right away?”
“Why? Do you want to?” Beckett asked seriously, and Vivianne was taken aback, unable to immediately respond. “I can process everything if you want, and cancel all my appointments. Where do you want to get married?”
“Wait… Wait! Calm down!” Vivianne suddenly said on the phone before taking a deep breath. “I’m just asking why there’s a contract. Why are you talking about getting married immediately? Aren’t you considering your fans? They’ll surely be surprised.”
“If they are really my fans, they will understand my decision,” Beckett replied on the other line, still grinning. “And what is this? Are you worried about my career? You should have done that instead of shooting me in the leg, Vivianne. I might have been pleased.”
Vivianne rolled her eyes before tightening her grip on her clothes. “I don’t know why there needs to be a contract. It’s not like I can run away from you. You’re a member of Foedus, and I know that no matter where I go, I can’t escape you.”
“That’s still not a valid reason for me to trust you, Vivianne Kaye. You betrayed me before, and you can repeat it,” Beckett said in a deep tone. “Everything is prepared here in my office. You just need to sign. Are you trying to kill me again that’s why you don’t want to sign-”
“Fine! I’m on my way!” Vivianne interrupted Beckett. She couldn’t hold back anymore. Beckett kept reminding her of the past, and it irritated her.
Instead of getting annoyed, Beckett’s grin widened even more. “Okay. I will wait for you here,” he said before ending the call.
Vivianne just blinked as she looked at her phone. She wanted to throw it against the wall out of frustration, but she stopped herself. Since then, nothing has changed with Beckett. He always tests her patience.
“Damn it,” Vivianne muttered irritably before walking away, her steps heavy.
Not long after, Vivianne arrived back at Syneverse Entertainment. Fiona was surprised to see her, but she just said she had forgotten something in Beckett’s room and needed to get it right away. Fiona knew it wasn’t true, but she just nodded.
After that, Vivianne went straight to Beckett’s office. She turned the doorknob and entered without even knocking. She was just so annoyed with Beckett. If only she could punch him again like she did the first time they met.
But whether she liked it or not, she needed Beckett.
“You just went here earlier, and now you are here in front of me again,” Beckett said while sitting in his office chair and seemed to be watching something on his laptop. “Missed me?”
“Duh. As if,” Vivianne retorted before rolling her eyes and sitting on the couch. “Where’s the contract? Give it to me so I can read it before signing.”
“Wait there,” Beckett said before pulling open the drawer to his right.
But because Vivianne was stubborn and didn’t want to take any orders from Beckett, she stood up and quickly went to him. He didn’t notice because he was slightly bent over as he pulled out the contract from under some papers.
“Here-”
“Ahhhh!”
“What the fuck, Vivianne?” Beckett exclaimed upon hearing the scream from the woman. He just sighed because Vivianne was already standing next to him, seemingly frozen in place while staring at the screen of his laptop. “I told you to wait. And how long are you going to stare at that?” he added.
“O-Oh my…” Vivianne couldn’t help but respond before turning away from the laptop. She faced Beckett. “W-Why are you watching p. orn here in the office?! You’re so unprofessional!”
“For your information, you didn’t knock, my lady,” Beckett shot back. “If you had knocked, I would have exited it already.”
“You and your excuses!” Vivianne exclaimed, and soon enough her entire face turned red. She wasn’t looking at the laptop anymore, but what she saw on the screen seemed to still be in her mind.
Beckett grinned when he saw Vivianne’s reaction. “Why are you acting like that? We used to do the same thing-”
“Shh! Quiet!” Vivianne suddenly snapped before covering Beckett’s mouth with her hand.
But it was indeed a wrong move. She didn’t realize they were so close to each other, and their lips would almost touch if Vivianne’s hand wasn’t blocking them.
‘Shit!’ Vivianne cursed in her mind.
She was about to move away from Beckett, but he suddenly grabbed her waist and pulled her down to sit on his thigh. Her face turned as red as a tomato, while Beckett’s grin widened even more.
“Here,” Beckett said as he handed Vivianne the document he was holding. “Wait, why are you blushing like that-Ow!” He winced as Vivianne elbowed him in the stomach before quickly moving away from him.
“You’re still pretending, but we both know why!” Vivianne exclaimed, pointing at the space between Beckett’s thighs. “W-Why are you standing like that, huh? You pervert!”
“You just caught me watching p. orn. What did you expect to happen?” Beckett raised an eyebrow, but soon his grin returned to his lips. “But let me tell you about something, Vivianne Kaye. This p. orn video is not the reason why I’m reacting like this. It’s because of you.”
