“I’M SORRY for what you saw earlier,” I started, I tilted sitting in front of him.
I heard a deep sigh coming from him so I was even more nervous. “Rexon was already there, so you agreed to come with me for lunch today. Come on you need more practice to improve your techniques.” He breathed out exasperatedly.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t want to do that.” I gasped heavily, I’m running out of words to explain my side. I feel like I’m stuck and I agreed to have a lunch-date with him.
“I understand,” he said and glanced at me.
I shook my head one after another. I wasn’t convinced by his answer so I bravely grabbed his arm.
“I know you think I did it because Rexon was there, but believe me, I want to be with you even just now.” I sincerely said, eyes glittering with affection.
He clenched his jaw, eyes still focus on the road.
I blushed so I tightened my grip on his arm. “It’s just like that, I’m the bet on this lunch-date of ours, because I already received my first salary!” I excitedly said.
“Tss, your salary as a babysitter?” he blurt, then shook his head with disbelief.
The smile disappeared from my lips and I slowly let go of his arm to re-adjust on my seat. “I’ve resigned, I’m just waiting for the end of this month and I can go back to my previous job.” I explained.
“What’s the use if you’re still coming in? We’re running out of time for our year end catalog. You’re the only one waiting for the photoshoot to end,” he said, without looking at me.
I sigh again, everything becomes more complicated for me. If I haven’t left Lara, my photoshoot might be compromised again.
“I already canceled our trip to Thailand, my staff spotting a better place to shoot, somewhere in Barcelona I think,” he said seriously and peek a glance at me. I leaned more heavily on the car chair, and chose to rub my own forehead.
“Getting the project done on time was a real achievement. I don’t settle for less, neither failure,” he declared.
“I’m really sorry, I want to get back at you and the company when I’m done with my job with Rexon,” I muttered, as if I wanted to shrink from what I was saying, I didn’t even know where I was getting courage at these times.
“Tell me, how long will I wait for you?” he asked, at that point he turned to my behavior to stare me in the eyes.
I swallowed hard, and preferred to avert my gaze. I don’t know what he wants to release. I also feel like I’m sweating from the glue even with the strength of the air conditioning of his car.
“Here we are …” He woke me up in my silence. I quickly glanced at the Diner, where from the inside I could see people rarely eating.
“This place was perfect for the two of us,” he simply said, before getting out of his car. He also opened the door for me.
“Thanks!” I said. He also helps me get inside the Diner. What I thought would be a boring lunch turned out to be fun because of the penetration of his stories to me. I can say he is the only person I have met with a sense of humor. He was a very jolly man. Add his gentlemanliness to everything. Sometimes I wonder why he is not what I chose to love? Yes, I admit I was attracted to him. He’s very charming, deep person and knows the wants of life.
I stared at him carefully while the attention was on the food. Why didn’t I give him a chance? Am I focusing too much on how I feel for Rexon? Maybe they’re right, he’s taking me for granted, and nothing hurts more than watching him loving another girl.
“What is it? Is there any problem?” he spoke to me with amusement.
I cleared my throat first and keep ignoring his lethal stare. “The food is good,” I said, then nodded.
I noticed that he lowered the cutlery he was holding and folded both hands before pressing his elbows on the table. I nervously laid my back on the chair and prepared what he could say.
“Sometimes, you make me feel like I actually have a chance with you, but when I try to take that chance you make me realize I never really did,” he declares, trying to catch my glance.
I swallowed hard again but the food stuck to my throat. I drank water quickly before I could choke.
“You’re blushing!” he chortled.
“No, ah!” I quickly shifted and blew some air from my mouthed.
“You look so radiant, I can’t take my eyes off you,” he muttered to me.
“Nicholas, let’s get back to business.” I mumbled.
“Business? We’re not in the business meeting lovely…” He teases me, and giving me his most charming smile.
I rolled my eyes and nodded. “Alright you win!” I surrender then chuckled darkly.
“Alright, let’s get back to work,” he teasing me again, he touched the cutlery again and simply snorted before staring at me again and finally shaking.
Why don’t I try? Try to love him? I said to myself before shrugging.
“Thanks for this wonderful date, I really enjoy this night.” I utter, before I grab his arm as his car stops at the corner.
“Well, I’d be happier if more dates will follow.” A smile flashed from his face.
“Yes, I want us to do it again, maybe tomorrow?” I said jokingly.
He glanced at me then gently grasped my hand on his arm. “Yeah, I like that too,” he softly said as a palm caressed the surface of my hand.
The feeling of his warm palm on my cheek made me cringe. I could feel the wings fly inside my stomach.
“You have no Idea, how you made me feel, right this moment,” he softly said, the swirls of emotion surprise me.
My lips slightly open, I wanted to say something but it didn’t want to come out of my mouth. I didn’t even realize that we were only a few inches away and before I regained consciousness I closed my eyes firmly. As our lips crushed together, I felt like i was walking on air. It was magic, the way his lips connected with mine. We held it for a few seconds, before our lips began to move in perfect sync.
My arms reach up and tangle around his neck and lightly pulling him into me. I breathe in sharply and kiss him delicately, his arm encircling my waist, giving me more support to push myself towards him.
He drew pulled away, caressing my cheek with lust and desire. “Cherry…” he whispers slowly.
No answer cried out to me, I firmly shut my eyes, my entire body had been taken over by overwhelming feeling of lust. I pressed my head against his sculpted chest and listened for his heartbeat. It was there, that thunderous, rapid pounding that made me giggle with amusement.
“Do you hear it?” he suddenly asked.
I nodded.
“Your name was in my heart,” he whispered.
At that point I felt at peace. It feels different to have that for you. Someone who cares about you no matter what. Above all, you are ready to be loved without hesitation.
I am tired of always being an option. I deserve to be someone’s first choice not second best.
