“I’ll just ask the people next to this room.” he said then stood-up. He didn’t knock, he opens the door and there he saw Rovi who’s currently checking Grace. “I want to transfer here. Can I transfer here?” he asked Grace’s mother directly. “I’ll pay the room’s fee just let me transfer here as soon as possible.”
He’s desperate, after what he saw, he can’t just take it for granted. He smiled when Mrs. Dizon agreed. While he was still admitted at the hospital, he can still take a look of Grace while her family isn’t present especially when Rovi is away. He would take all the risks just to save her.
“What do you think you were doing?” Rovi asked.
“I’ll explain later, let me packed my things first so I can transfer faster to the next room.” he said without looking on Rovi’s face.
“No, you must explain now!” he said with authority.
He stopped packing and look at him straight from the eyes. “She’s in danger. I saw someone on her room yesterday. I know, your jealous but do it for her, it’s for her safety. Just until I get better then we’ll transfer her to the other room where only her friends and family could visit her. I’m going to hire a private nurse for her safety. Now, if you disagree with our agreement that’s not my problem anymore.” he said then he continue packing.
“I’m not against it; I’m just pointing your desperate.” Rovi said calmly.
He was stunned and sat down. “Yeah, I am. I was frightened and I can’t help to think of the possibilities and ‘what if’ questions. The feeling of losing a friend is a feeling that I can’t take. I’m really thankful that she alarmed me that day. I also consider what would you feel, your here that moment. You’re my friend and to be honest, I can’t imagine myself looking at you with a guilt written all over your face.” he said with a sad eyes.
“You know what, you’re thinking too much ahead. It didn’t happened so stop acting like it happened. Thank you for saving her even if you’re not feeling well. I know a few details like; you were chasing someone while all the nurses you were passing through are chasing you.”
“Yeah, I didn’t catch her. I guess we have to be more conscious about her from now on.” he said.
“Yes, get well Mr. Idiot.” Rovi said.
“What did you just say? I-idiot?!”
“Yeah, you’re an idiot. You’re not thinking about your health, you knew that you could lose your senses because of your high fever but you run from this floor to the exit of this hospital but I’m still thankful.”
“Yeah, you must be thankful for this idiot you call.” he said then laughed.
Hael was staring her from afar while lying down on his bed. He can’t help but to smile when he saw Rovi and checked her. “I hope you could have your memory back so you could remember us especially him. I know, what the mind forgets, the heart remembers.” he whispers.
Hael was stunned when a girl went in front of him while she presents the he, himself wrote. He smiled. “Thank you.” he said while signing. “If you haven’t followed me on my account…”
“I already did.” she said with a smile on her lips.
He glanced at her then he begun to stare and there he recognized the beautiful face of his first fan. “Wow! You’re the first one who followed me!” he excitedly said. “Oh, sorry. I was just amazed. You really mesmerized me.”
“Thank you.” she said then looked at the page he signed.
“You’re Grace Dizon, right?” he asked.
“Yes, nice meeting you…”
“Hael, Hael Leal. Uh, by the way, this is just exclusively for you. If you need something, ask that is related to my story or you can’t understand some of the words, you can ask me personally. Here.” he gave a piece of paper. “Thank you for reading, Unexpected Love. That is my first romance mystery/thriller story.” he sincerely said.
“Hey, are you insane? You’re smiling by yourself.” said Ran while sitting beside his bed.
“Uh, I just remember something. Why are you here?”
“Shift time, later brother will be here so I could go home.”
“I see. Thank you.” he said then pulled-up the blanket to warm his self.
“You must be well as fast as it could, so you won’t bother us anymore.” Ran sarcastically said.
He chuckled. “Yes, sir! I’ll just take a nap.” he said then closed his eyes.
“Nap, sleep!” he took a glance on Ran’s face. He saw his brother smiling. He knew that his brother cares for him and he decided to take a rest.
Rovi was staring at Hael while sitting on the side of Grace’s bed. He was thankful that Hael was there while he was away. He was amazed that he even takes risks his own life just to save Grace.
“I know that you will also do that just to save her. It’s not about what I thought ahead, what are the possible things would’ve happened if I didn’t stop it, it’s about her.” Hael said.
“Because you have–”
“It’s not about what I feel also, she’s my friend that’s all what matters and I treasure that. I know, you do respect what I feel towards her but I respect her feelings towards me and I don’t want to destroy our relation as friends. You knew that. If you save lives using your hands, I save lives too in the name of justice. I can feel that she knew us already. Only the mind forgets but never the heart. I know, she’ll remember us, especially you.” he said then tapped his shoulder.
He smiled. “Get well. You have to continue searching and investigate more.”
“Yeah, I will. Even if I’m here, I could do my job.” he proudly said.
“How?”
“Never underestimate me, I have my eyes, ears and feet outside.” he said.
“Wow! So proud, uh… How come you can see and hear me while standing in front of me?” he joked on reply.
He chuckled. “Simply because I have my connections.” he said then smirked. “Who do you think I am?”
“You’re a patient that I’m about to send at the mental institution.” he said with a boring look on his face.
He glared at him and they laughed together.
“What are you looking at?” Hael asked.
“Nothing, I just realized that you were a friend that everyone could just toss at the garbage.”
He chuckled. “Bad.” he commented. “You’ll just miss seeing me when you’re bored here.” then they laughed. “By the way, I have to see her before I go so I could introduce Win as her private nurse.”
“Do you really trust that nurse?” he asked.
“Yeah, he’s a friend of mine and his my first reader years ago. I do trust him same as I trust you. He knew you besides he’s not that kind of a man.” he explains.
He smiled. “Thank you for hiring a private nurse for her safety and also for paying all of the expenses.”
“What? You have to pay the half of it.” he joked on.
“Take care and don’t come back here.” he said.
“I can’t promise that. You have to meet him too. He’ll be here in a minute.” he said.
He’s observing the nurse Hael hired for Grace. He can tell by the look that he’s trustworthy.
Hael tapped his shoulder. “Nurse Dy, I entrust her. If there’s a problem you can call Doctor Jimenez. Please, take good care of her while I’m not around.” he said then looked at him. “He’ll be a big help for us. He knew how to fight when needed so we don’t have to worry but don’t let your guard off. He can only fight when needed.” he whispered.
He smiled. “Don’t work hard today, take some rest this is not an advice from a doctor but as a friend.” he said.
He saw him smile and nod then tell everyone is going and left.
