“Well, the guy had the same clues but only few, while me? They aren’t that friendly but the good news there is, I have one missing clue.” he boasts.
He saw him rolled his eyes. “And you’re proud about that, uh… Well, as far as I remember… You said that, being an investigator, lawyer or prosecutor isn’t about making big impact it’s about how you don’t miss the important clues not even one. That’s why you always say; being an investigator, a lawyer or prosecutor isn’t an easy career. So, where’s your principle now?” he said with a teasing tone.
He laughed and sat down on the bed. “I’m not yet done. I’m really closed to know the suspect but only one thing blocked my driveway. My last witness wasn’t yet ready to bark not because that person is frightened, let’s just say… This last person is denial about the fact on what this individual witnessed.” he explained.
Rovi stopped eating and looked at him. “You mean to say, this witness you were talking about, knew all about the incident?”
He pauses and thinks. “No. This witness doesn’t know everything, if this person knew all along; this subject won’t dare to cross the road because the suspect targets the subject.”
“I need to know everything. I want you to be my eyes because I can’t face her right now.” Rovi begged.
He sighed. “If I were you, I would’ve face her right now and explain everything but since you gave me the chance to make my move, it’s my pleasure.”
“Don’t you ever dare! I’m warning you, never dare!” he said with authority.
He chuckled. “Relax, dude. I’m just kidding. By the way, aren’t you tired? I mean, you just came here from L. A. but welcome back. Nice to see you alive after years of studying medicine.” he said.
He chuckled. “Of course, I’ll stay alive because I’m a licensed doctor now. Well, I’m the one who would’ve said that. It’s really nice to see you breathing and jumping like a bunny, I thought I would save you from having a serious wounds.” he joked on reply.
He smirked. “Who do you think I am, Doctor Jimenez?” he asked. “By the way, haven’t you known the news about Grace?”
“What news?” he asked back.
“Hmm… As I thought, well. Grace had a little accident after they sent you at the airport.”
“What accident? Why didn’t you tell me? Why didn’t you mention that before?” he continuously asked.
“She had a selective amnesia which she forgot about us, about you.” he said straight to the point. He saw Rovi’s expression. It seems someone poured an ice all over his body. After he said those, he didn’t even hear about Grace on him. He knew that Rovi was blaming himself because of what happened although he didn’t tell him how it happened not until one midnight.
“She’s here at the hospital. Unconscious, I’m not the original physician but after I read her name, I eagerly accept the job.” he heard him said excitedly on the line. Even though he doesn’t understand what his friend’s saying, he kept on listening. “I just heard that she got hit and run yesterday morning and I need your help to find the suspect. You have to know everything about what happened that day. Do it for me, oh, no! Please, do it for Grace.” That was the first time he heard Rovi begged on something for his personal intention.
“Hey! I’m asking you, are you still dizzy? You seem so out of this world.”
“Oh, sorry. I’m a bit fine now. I jus—” he didn’t had the chance to reason out when Rovi put a thermometer on his mouth.
“Don’t you dare to remove that!” he warned. “You look pale, you look weak. Just nod if your answer is yes. Have you ever had enough rest this past few days?” Rovi asks when he didn’t nod he glared at him. “I told you, being workaholic isn’t good. Do you eat at least three times a day?” when he didn’t saw him nod he pinch his face.
Hael removed the thermometer on his mouth. “Thirty-eight point nine.” he said. “I’m trying my best to sleep but the nights were sleepless. I’m eating more than three times a day so you don’t have to pinch me.” he explained.
“Excuses, you have to eat then take this medicine. I’ll drive you home.” he said.
“Can’t I look for Grace?” he begged.
“No. Visitors aren’t allowed anymore.” Rovi said.
He was staring Rovi while packing the medical tools he used. “I saw her with a guy last night.”
“Her? Who’s her?” he said with curiosity on his voice.
“Grace with that guy. I saw them last night and they asked me.” he started to open.
“How come you saw her with him while she’s here?”
“Come on…” he begun to feel annoyed. “Okay to shorten the story, her apparition followed me, ride my car, came to my house.” he lean on the wall while sitting on the bed. “Wait for me until I’m done taking a ba–” he stopped talking when he felt a quick but heavy air on his right side of his ear.
“What did you do?” Rovi asked with authority on his voice, calm expression but his left arm on his right side of his ear.
He sighed and looked at Rovi’s eyes. “I attacked her with a hug from her back.” he honestly said. “You knew how I miss her, Rovi. I know, you would kill me but were also friends so, I’m telling you this.”
“Haven’t you moved on?” he asks as if it’s a whisper.
“I can’t tell you I have but all I can say, I’m really glad she met you because you won’t hurt her but I’m not saying I’ll hurt her or make her cry. I’m just saying she deserves someone like you.” he said.
Rovi removed his left arm from the right side of his ear. “I’m sorry, I overreact. I promise you, I will do everything for us to end up together forever.”
“Good because if you dare to make her cry, I’m going to get her from you.” he seriously said.
“I promise to never cheat, never let go of her, love her more each day, be faithful, be her armour, her comfort, her strength, her courage, and lastly to be her one and only man and she would be my only woman.” Rovi pledged.
