He was stunned as if someone poured water full of ice. He can’t deny it, he’s jealous. “You can’t be with him. You can’t.” he wants to say but he had no choice but to closed his eyes and agree. “Okay, always take care. If you need some help, just tell me.” he said even though he didn’t like the idea of she’s with that JL.
He had no choice but to let her go and solve the case she was in with the help of JL. He can’t help but to blame himself for being a doctor.
A few minutes after Grace left his room, he went outside his room and he decided to eat. It’s already passed five in the afternoon when he heard his phone ringing.
“Hello?” he answered without looking who’s calling.
“Doc, please go back here immediately.” said the person unto the other line.
He didn’t bother to listen anymore to the other details, he rush unto his room and get some clothes he need.
“Mom, I won’t come home about five days or a week. I had an emergency at the hospital. I’ll just call, Dad about this.” he said then kissed his mother and his baby sister, Rachelle who’s new member of their family.
When he reached the hospital, he checked Grace first. He felt the relief when he saw her safe and sound. He decided not to go home for about a week because he thought it was Grace who needs his help but the real reason was the hospital need him to replace the other doctors due to family emergencies.
“Yes, I will. Tell Mom that she don’t have to worry. I will eat at time.” he said. He blushed then chuckled. “She’s fine, Dad. Yes, but all I need to do is to wait for her. Of course, Dad! That won’t change not because I’m her doctor; you knew the reason but thank you for the reminder. I won’t forget. I have to go now, don’t work too much. Yeah, yeah, no need to repeat it plenty times.” he said the laughed.
He was sitting at the table inside the room he occupies at the hospital. He was about to take some rest when he remembered Grace. Before he realized what he had thought, he was already at her room, beside her bed. He saw her uncle lie down at the other bed.
“Doc.” he said.
“Are you alone?” he asked.
“Yes, her mother can’t look after her, too much emotions were strong but my nieces were about to go tomorrow.” he replied then stood up. “I’ll just buy some food then I’ll be back.”
He smiled. “Sure. I don’t have my rounds yet so I’ll be waiting for you.” he said willingly.
“Thank you, Doc.” he said thankfully.
After her uncle went out at the room, he looked at her. He touched her hair then her hand and kissed it lovingly. “I’m sorry for I haven’t sent my letters after I went abroad to study.” He apologetically said.
He was so happy when he got a letter from the university he dreamt of saying he passed the entrance exam at the Harvard University. Although his parents were not that fully supported at first but when he said he passed, they decided to let him go and reach his dream as a doctor.
“Grace, are you free today? Can I pick you at about seven today?” he asked.
“Hmm… I don’t know, if I can go home early today then perhaps I can meet you.” she replied at the line.
His excitement lowered. “Where are you?” he asked.
“I’m at the fashion show right now.” she said.
After he knew where Grace is, he went there to meet her. Every time he sees her, it seems his world stops, the time is in slow motion and everything was right whenever he was with her.
Although, he knew she’s tired that day, he treats her somewhere near the place after the fashion show.
“Grace, I passed the entrance exam. I can study at Harvard and be a doctor.” he excitedly said.
He saw her eyes sparkled with happiness. “I’m happy for you. Congrats.” she said with excitement.
They were happily chatting when he realize one thing. “Grace, I know you can’t come with me but I want you to know that my feelings won’t change, not even a single beat.” he said sincerely.
She smiled at her. “I know. Go, reach your dream but never go back here without a licence.” she reached his hand. “I trust you. I’m happy for you.” she said with the sweetest smile on her lips.
He looked at her with a smile on his lips after that sweet memory. He was about to stroke her hair once again when he got froze when he heard the doorknob.
