So, now my mission gained the pace. I was satisfied with my work. Maybe, I could find him. I was lying on my bed, staring at ceiling, well I didn’t have my dormmate as of now. She was busy with her internship , which was in the other city.
The moment I searched for the clock, it was already 10:30 pm, the day went so fast. I quickly went to the mess, because my stomach died of rumbling an hour ago. I enjoyed my meal, for the first time after coming to dorm. This was irritating, I am waiting from past week and no messages. ‘ I guess he realized that I am waste of time’ I muttered slowly to myself. I left the mess soon.
After returning back to my room, I dressed myself to something more comfortable. I took a last look on my cellphone and threw it on the bed. I was back to my studies. It’s very easy to throw someone outside your mind, when you have a series of rigorous assignments to be submitted. I finally succeeded in completing three assignments. By the time, it finished it was already two and I was ready to fell dead to the world.
The next day went the same with a hectic schedule. I was leaving college premises. Then suddenly a voice halted me, the voice was familiar. I decided not to pay heed and continue going, then I was followed with the quick footsteps. I stopped and turned around, ” What do you want Rony?” I asked a bit sarcastically.
He gave me a tensed look and whispered,”I wanted to say sorry for my behaviour, I know you might think that I am pranking again, but no not this time. I am sorry Maya”.
I was astonished, did he really called me with my name? was he really apologizing? well I am shocked to hear my name from his mouth. I pretended not to be astonished by his so called affection and answered,” Okay” and turned immediately and started sprinting.
I got my mind clear and decided not to believe him, because this was not the very first confession. I still remember water dripping from my hair. Then he came in front of me all of a sudden and said,” only ‘okay’, I know I did misbehaved with you but I deserve more than a monosyllabic anaswer”. I grinned and replied, ” it’s okay, I forgive you, now leave my sight I am in a hurry”.
He suddenly asked,” Coffee or tea or anything you like, please, don’t say no, I am still regretting my deeds, please”. I let out an irritated sigh and said,” just be quick, ok”. I companied him to a nearby coffee shop, while on my way , I saw Jacob; he was looking as usual smashing, but the color of his composure was faint, before I could have a clear glance we passed that area.
Rest of his treat was silent, I finished my coffee and quickly set myself up, ” well thanks for the coffee and it’s okay, don’t give me so much importance, forget about it”, I didn’t even waited for his answer. I was feeling happy and relieved, I was still thinking that he would take revenge. Soon, I reached my dorm.
After few minutes, there was an unusual knock on my door. I opened to see our warden standing, I guess I did something unknowingly, which was unpleasant to think. She said politely, ” You have a parcel Ms. Malik, just sign it and take it”. I rushed to see , it was from my mother. I bought inside and opened it hastily. I saw a brand new collection of latest fashion trend. I was happy and called her immediately. It is always a pleasure to talk to her.
After seeing it, I was striked with an idea. Why not do as he wanted? let’s be old me for a while, if he is so interested than he will show up. Obviously, I love me, so why not love yourself, that’s want he wanted. It’s time for him to taste his own medicine. I was grinning wickedly, I am sure, I will be enjoying this.
The next day I woke up early, took a head bath. Dried my hairs with a towel to give them a wavy look. I decided to wear a black crop top with skiny blue jeans. I applied slight mascara, little eye make up, a slight lip gloss. I paired myself with a plain black jacket, I was bored with my flats so I decided to put ankle length boots. The next minute, I was out of my dorm.
When I entered the college campus, I found people noticing or identifying me. Even I was shocked to see myself, I was changed and hard to identify. When I entered the classroom, I saw everyone gawking at me, I could easily see,’Whose that??’ look on majority of the faces. I went and sat calmfully at my desk. Few seconds later, Rony and their pals entered with someone new in their group, it was Jacob. The moment Rony saw me, his reaction was literally funny. He stared from top to bottom, blinked his eyes twice and mouth was open wide with shock. Later, he was interrupted with a pat on his shoulder by Jacob.
This was literally funny. I wish I could laugh and roll on the ground. Rest of the day was normal.
I was sitting at my usual booth chewing some staple food. Suddenly, my phone vibrated. I picked my phone carelessly and checked it. It was unnecessary, message fom stupid advertisers. The moment I took my head up, I saw Rony, sitting on the chair infront on me. I didn’t bother to ask him, why he was messing with me? I simply said,”hi” and continued eating. He smiled and replied hi. He tried saying something but I got up as I was done with my lunch and said,’cya soon’.
I didn’t waited for him to answer and rushed. I saw Jacob, standing far with the other pals and staring at my booth I realized, they freaking again, planning plans. The rest of the day went full of gawking and noticing. But my Mr. Mystery was missing.
