Selina dodged quickly. So Bonnie fell to the ground. Just as she struggled to stand up and fight with Selina, Jayden’s yell frightened her.
“Aren’t you embarrassed enough?”
Bonnie covered her face and started crying. Evelyn gave a slight cough and walked over to help Bonnie up.
“Alright, stop crying. Your father didn’t mean that. He was just in the heat of the moment.”
Just then, Manfred came back. He carefully sized up Selina and said in relief when he found that she was safe and sound, “Uncle Jayden, Dad asked you to go to the study.”
Jayden exchanged glances with Evelyn behind him. Evelyn whispered, “Chester is angry now. Be careful what you say.”
Jayden nodded, turned around, and walked into the study.
Manfred whispered to Selina, “Did they hurt you?”
Selina raised her chin proudly and said, “Do you think I’m a doormat?”
“You lovable scamp.”
They spoke in a very low voice, but Manfred’s happy face told everything. Bonnie was pissed off.
Not long after, Jayden also came out.
Noticing his gloomy face, Bonnie hurriedly came to him, “Dad…”
“Bonnie, get a place of your own. Maybe you can move back later.”
Bonnie was shocked, “Why?”
“How can you ask me why?” Jayden gritted his teeth. Evelyn hurriedly said, “Bonnie, it’s good for you to move out. Our home has been in a mess. Why don’t you move out and calm yourself down? Once Chester calms down, I will take you home.”
Bonnie wanted to say something more but Jayden had already turned around and left.
Evelyn patted Bonnie’s hand and said, “I’ll have your things packed up.” Then she followed Jayden away.
Bonnie glared at Selina resentfully. “Satisfied? Don’t think you will be taken in my family after you made me move out. You’re just a…”
She swallowed the last few words and stopped.
Bonnie was still haunted by what had happened before. So she just snorted and went away.
Selina sighed helplessly, “Your family really wowed me today.”
Manfred laughed, “Does that scare you away?”
“Yes! So what?” Selina smiled.
“No way!”
After a while, Selina suddenly thought of her question. “Was it caused by Bonnie’s hug?”
Manfred frowned, seeming still extremely disgusted with that.
“It doesn’t feel right. We…”
She suddenly fell silent.
“We what?” Manfred couldn’t help but tease her as he saw her lower her head shyly.
“Nothing!”
“Really? Then why are you blushing?” Manfred smiled.
Selina covered her face and said, “Come on! You… you know what I mean. Don’t pretend.”
Manfred smiled softly. After a while, he sobered suddenly.
“I’m confused too!”
Selina was puzzled. Manfred continued, “I thought I would never meet the right woman in the rest of my life, but I met you.”
Only then did Selina finally understand why he courted her after he met her just for the first time.
Did that mean he chose her just because she was the “right woman”? Why did that suddenly disappoint her?
“Manfred, let’s go home!” Selina said.
“OK!” Manfred stood up and wanted to leave. Just then, Chester came out of the study.
“Don’t go. I’ve asked the butler to get the rooms ready for you. You two stay here for several days. I’ve already called the doctor. They’ll give a systematic examination to Manfred in the next few days.”
Manfred frowned, “I’m fine.”
“You don’t get to say that. The doctor will find out if you’re fit after he gives you a check-up.” Chester added, “Selina can stay with you here.”
To Selina’s great surprise, stubborn as Chester was, he allowed her to stay here. It would be good for Manfred to get treatment too.
“Master Gordon is right. You should stay here for treatment!”
Manfred nodded, “Alright.”
The butler arranged two separate rooms on the third floor for them and quickly got the rooms ready.
Selina was okay with that.
The banquet ended on a bad note due to the accident. So the butler asked the servants to bring them some food.
Selina sat in the room and stared at the ceiling blankly.
She should have taken her laptop with her, thought Selina. With her laptop, she could work on designing quietly. It would be a good idea.
‘Forget it. I’ve had a long day.’
Selina took her pajamas and went to the bathroom. After taking a shower, she lifted the blanket and was shocked.
“Manfred? How did you get in?”
“The door is unlocked!” Manfred smiled.
Selina checked the door. He was telling the truth. She didn’t lock it.
“You should go now.”
Manfred didn’t move. He said, “I miss you.”
Selina was dumbfounded. When did he become so good at sweet words?
However, it did work for her.
She frowned and said, “If Master Gordon knows you stay in my room, he will be mad at me!”
Manfred said disapprovingly, “You think he doesn’t know this? He’s just too stubborn!” Then, he patted the bed and said, “Come here, I’ll help you blow-dry your hair.”
Selina was still worried. Manfred was right. Chester was a man with sharp mind who knew many things.
‘Whatever!’
Selina walked over, handed Manfred the hairdryer and leaned her head against Manfred’s leg.
Somehow, the sound of the hairdryer howling above her head left Selina in relief. For many nights, she had fallen asleep while Manfred helped her blow-dry her hair.
“Selina?”
Manfred suddenly called her name. She muttered indistinctly.
“I want to kiss you!” Manfred said seriously. After the accident, he realized that he probably couldn’t bear to live without her.
But Selina remained silent. Manfred frowned and said again, “Selina?”
Then he heard her calm breathing.
Manfred was surprised.
She fell asleep when he professed his love?
After putting down the hairdryer, Manfred lowered his head and kissed her lips hard on purpose. Selina moaned out of pain.
As Selina opened her mouth, Manfred took the chance to French kiss her.
Selina was awakened by his rude kiss and she pouted in confusion, “Manfred, what are you doing?”
“You tell me.” He held her down then.
Their moan, along with the wind from the hairdryer, made a beautiful night.
