“Sir Daemon, we have located Erick.”
From intently looking at the documents he gathered on the narcotics business of the Farrows, he looked at Elon, his systems operations manager he gave a task to look into the accident years ago.
The man he’s been looking for since the disappearance of Devon finally came to the surface. The driver of the car that’s been in the accident. He survived the wreck according to an intel report he received but he was unable to track him all this time.
“After all these years? And you only managed to find him by now? Are you all really that incompetent?” He lit a cigarette and glanced at the photo frame of Devon and Emily on his desk that he kept for years. “Where is he?”
“Sir, we didn’t find him. He turned himself in and recorded a video for you.”
“Where is he?” he repeated himself and stood to get his coat. He’ll deal with the man face to face. “I will talk to him personally.”
Elon placed a flash drive on his desk. “Sir, he died by suicide this morning after sending this to us.”
He fell silent and slowly went back into his seat. Erick died by suicide? Why? Why would his personal driver do that? He’s a retired marine officer. His mental fortitude is unparalleled.
He connected the device onto his laptop and saw his ex-loyal man chronicling what really happened that night. While watching his old pale face confess everything, Daemon can’t help but punch his desk in rage.
How dare these people deceive him?! How dare they ganged up against him?!
After watching the video, all he wanted to do was to see his enemy’s blood before him but the thought of Devon stopped him from his murderous tendencies. She is the real victim of all of these. She’s been the target of it all because of her connection with him.
Now that he knew the truth behind the video, the urge to hug and protect his wife had never been this stronger.
He took off the coat when he felt so hot from anger. There is a better way to deal with them.
“Elon, remember the video I gave you for safekeeping?” he asked after finishing another long stick of cigarette.
Elon stood straight, patience in his face. “Yes, sir.”
“Release that to the media. It’s time that woman realized that I’m the biggest wall that she should not have dared to toy with.”
He puffed out the smoke before gulping the rum on his glass. “Make sure it will go viral. Pay some influencers and bloggers to focus on it.”
“Copy, sir.”
That afternoon, everyone in cyberspace and national television was shocked when an anonymous person uploaded a video. The sexual abuse of a senator while his wife who’s supposed to be an advocate of children’s rights looked on cheering his husband shocked everyone.
The nation was all swept by the crime caught on cam that when Maddy came rushing into his office with a big bruise on her face, he kind of expected it already.
“What is the meaning of this?!” She threw her phone on his desk with the video playing in the background. “You better have an explanation for this, Daemon!”
“That should be my line.” He threw the scarf that his men found in the crime scene towards her that was Maddy’s all along. “You fabricated that video making Devon look like she planned it all. My guess is you drugged her beforehand.”
He circled the desk with his gun in his hand, his face riddled with darkness. “Now, I’m going to ask you a question, Maddy. Where is my daughter?! Where is Emily?”
Her eyes opened widely in shock. Daemon fired at her feet making her scream in fear but her face gradually turned back into being feisty.
“That should not matter now! My problem is even bigger now! Retract that video now! My husband will kill me!”
“Why would I when it means persecuting you and your husband who didn’t stop his attacks against me? I told you already. I warned you never to meddle again in my affairs but what I learned today made me want to murder you.” He stuck the gun on her head. “I’m going to ask you the question and you better answer me right. Where is our daughter?! Where is Emily?”
She only smirked at him as her tears began to fall. “Are you really going to do this, Daemon?! I’m your sister! I’m your best friend! I love you!”
“I realized I’ve been too friendly with you, despite you backstabbing me constantly. I gave you too much leeway. You hurt my wife but I let her stop me from doing anything to you. But now, let me show you how I deal with traitors, Maddy. Give me back my daughter! What deal do you have with the Farrows?!”
She didn’t answer and just continued glaring at him expecting that he would change his mind. He shoots the strap of her bag, cutting it in the process without blinking.
“Drag her out and blacklist her from all of my buildings and businesses,” he ordered Elon, who witnessed all the drama. “Also contact our media partners and sensationalize the video. Make this as a new scandal to bury the limelight on the investigations of my business. Announce to the media that my father’s legacy is severing every kind of relationship with Maddy Johnson. Strip her of all my father’s wealth.”
“N-No! you can’t do this to me! Daemon!”
He stared coldly at the woman that she is. “I’m sorry Maddy but we’re over. But don’t think of it as the end. This is not your end. Not yet. I’m still starting.”
Armed men began dragging her towards the door.
“Don’t touch me! I’ll kill you all! Do you think Devon will stay with you after all you’ve done to her? She will leave you too! Mark my words! And that will be your biggest karma, Daemon. I am the only woman in this world who can accept you for who you are but you wasted the opportunity of being with me!”
He met her desperate eyes. “I’ll gladly accept her decision rather than be with you. Throw her outside.”
They escorted her out and pushed her towards the elevator.
“I’m sorry dad,” he whispered in the air upon remembering his father who doted on Maddy, “but I can’t save her anymore.”
