Give me my Emily

Book:The Billionaire Mafia's Wife Published:2024-6-3

“Brian! Get out of your house! Brian!” Devon rattled the gate of his older brother to wake him up.
It’s already one in the morning and everybody is already asleep but that didn’t stop her from driving into his house to confront him.
She’s soaked in tears, anger, and desperation that she even felt like she could kill anyone that would impede her plan for tonight.
“Brian! Face me! Now!” she shouted again when no one responded from inside the house. There are already guards running towards her with a gun.
“Leave the premises woman or else we will shoot you!” warned the guard and aimed the gun at her.
Devon only raised her chin towards them. “You dare to try to kill a Farrows?! Then shoot me! Shoot me now!”
One of the guards took a long look at her and whispered to the other guard.
“She’s Ms. Devon Farrows, the youngest daughter of Sir Gestoni and the wife of Daemon Druft. Put your gun down!”
“But she’s already dead. Is she a ghost?”
“Just put your gun down if you want us to live,” said the other in gritted teeth.
He put the gun back to his holster and bowed at her. “I’m sorry, ma’am. We’re very sorry. We didn’t recognize you. Please forgive us.”
Forgive? I’ll never forgive my brother for doing this! she thought.
“Open the gate,” she ordered and clenched her hands.
Sure, she came here alone without anyone to accompany her but she’ll make sure she’ll leave with her daughter. That’s for sure.
“Ms. Devon, your brother is already as-”
“I don’t care! I said open the damn gate!”
They had no choice but to do as she said and let her enter the vicinity. She didn’t waste any more time and opened the door to the living room only to face her older brother who’s looking at her furiously.
“What are you doing here, Devon?! Guards! Take her away!” he ordered them but she glared at them so they backed down again.
“Where’s my daughter, Brian?!” She fisted his collar easily despite their height difference. “Give her back to me!”
He harshly slapped her hand away and dragged her back outside. “Leave and never come back! How dare you come here after being a shame to the family! Leave!”
But a mother’s grieving heart and hope is a deadly combination. “No! I’m not going anywhere unless you give me back my baby!” Devon kicked her brother to the groin and ran back inside.
“Emily!” she called. “Emily, come out please. Mommy’s here.”
She planned to go upstairs to search for her missing daughter but before she could step into the first stair, Brian was already behind her and pulled her back. That’s the time that her attention was caught by a picture of a baby on the wall. She can’t forget about her daughter’s face. It’s really Emily. It’s really her!
“That picture.” She pointed at the portrait. “She’s Emily! That’s my Emily! Bring back my Emily to me!”
“You have gone crazy.” He shook her wildly. “That’s not your baby! She’s Lucy! That’s mine and my wife!”
Devon smiled bitterly to the only sibling that she’s close to but in the end chose to abandon her to the mercy of their father’s cruel antics. “Am I really?! Am I really the crazy one?! You’re the one who’s crazy! That’s not yours! That’s my baby. My Emily! Why did you steal my baby? Why did you make her your own after your wife had a miscarriage?! Didn’t you know the kind of hell I went through?! How could you do this to your own sister!”
“Shut up! You are really going insane!” he shouted and took the gun from one of the guards and cocked it at her. “Leave or you would give me no choice but to kill you right here. You know how hard I tried to keep my own family intact, Devon. I won’t let you ruin it. Leave while I’m still seeing you as my sister although you don’t even deserve it. You’re weak!”
She scoffed, not even minding the death right before her eyes. At that point, she didn’t fear anything, not even death.
“Does your wife know the truth? Did she know that she’s not raising her own child because your real child died?!”
“Shut up!” He raised his hand ready to strike her but a loud voice split right into the act.
“Don’t you dare lay a hand on my wife!”
They both looked at Daemon who’s at the door, his gun is aimed towards Brian ready to shoot while his guards are all behind him also ready to kill anyone in sight with just a word from their boss.
Brian smirked without feeling any fear. “If you don’t want to cause another war in this district then keep a leash around the neck of your wife. She’s not a Farrows anymore. She’s embarrassing!” he threatened Daemon.
“If you don’t want your house to be blown away with your wife and child then let my wife go.”
He showed Brian the bombs on his hand which immediately caused him to throw the gun and retreat. “One more thing, she’s not a Farrows anymore. She’s a Druft, a proud one.”
Daemon showed no expression and gently pulled Devon to his side until they reached the car.
“Daemon, they have our baby. They have Emily in there. They’re hiding my baby,” she cried out while they’re on their way back home.
He cupped her face worriedly and wiped her tears away. “Please, Devon. Relax. Take a deep breath.”
But she tapped his hand away and sulked in the corner. “You don’t believe me? I’m telling you that Emily is in there. Please Daemon, believe me. I saw her photo and I know in my heart that she is my baby. She is our baby, our Emily.”
He smiled at her warmly and nodded. “I believe in you. We’ll look into it together. We’ll get her no matter what.”
“Really?” Her eyes lit up.
“Yes.” He embraced her gently and kissed her head. “We’ll get our baby back, Devon.”
