Book:The Billionaire Mafia's Wife Published:2024-6-3

Daemon’s secretary, who is surprisingly a male brought her to his office in the penthouse of the Druft tower.
“Ms. Devon, please don’t hesitate to call me through the intercom if you need anything.”
“Thank you, Sean. I’ll call you when I need you.”
After Sean left, Devon explored her husband’s office, which is definitely not your typical square room for business. Of course, she has expected this. The mafia boss who rules over the entire district would not just settle for an ordinary-looking workplace. In fact, this is nothing like your regular rich man’s office because it looks more like a gallery or a museum.
The place is hugely spacious and you can freely run around without fear of breaking things up from arm’s length. The floor to ceiling walls hung paintings- commissioned, sold, and even bought on black market.
“This is sick,” she whispered to herself when she came across a glass container in the middle of the room where a big body of a tree is displayed. “Daemon, you’re a one heartless sick evil pig.”
Despite admiring his unconventional space, she still felt uncomfortable. It feels empty and sad at the same time.
When boredom struck her again, she decided to call Sean in.
“Yes, Ms. Devon?”
“Can I get Daemon’s number? I forgot to bring my phone and I don’t remember his number.”
Fishing out his phone from outta his pockets, he hurriedly gave it to her. “Here you go, ma’am.”
“Thank you.”
While chilling on his chair in front of his desk, she keyed in his number on the telephone and called him. After she connected, she told Sean to go back to his work.
“Yes, Sean. Anything happened to my wife?” Daemon answered on the line.
Putting her weight on the swivel chair and placing my feet on his table, I leaned back to stare at the crystal chandelier on the ceiling.
“No, nothing happened to your wife, Daemon. She’s still whole, in your office, and not thinking of escaping from you.”
“Daemon, what do you think about this proposal?” Devon heard Maddy intervene, earning a threatened frown from her.
“Just a sec.” She heard the sound of a moving chair before Daemon came on the line again. “Good. Are you enjoying yourself there? Ask for anything you want from Sean. He’ll give you whatever you want.”
Puckering her lips, she thought of anything she wanted but she could only think about how she felt when Maddy literally stole Daemon away from her earlier. She felt challenged much more than she should be as a memory-less wife. Seeing Maddy and Daemon together brimming with the most natural chemistry she’s ever seen in a couple like they’ve known each other’s secrets and emotions for a long time is disheartening.
“I want you,” she answered, biting her lips. Saying these words makes her heart giddy.
Daemon fell silent. The only thing she can hear from him is his ragged breathing.
“I can’t go there. I’m in the middle of an important meeting.”
Her brows raised. Does he really think that she’ll back down like this? She didn’t go through all that cutesy cringy stuff in the morning just to get rejected now.
“I’m hungry. I haven’t had anything for my breakfast.”
“Damn! Why didn’t you tell me any sooner? I’m coming up. Wait for me there. What do you want to eat?”
Suppressing her smile, she covered her mouth with a folder and swallowed a laugh. “I want Chinese food.”
“Alright. I’m coming.”
“I’m waiting.”
A laugh escaped from her mouth the moment she put down the telephone. Gosh, that was easy. She thought she had to lie to him that she’s sick before she could get his attention back.
“Well, Daemon. You’re much easier to figure out this time.”
The door opened immediately after only a few minutes.
“Wow! Did you fly right here?” she asked deeply astonished to see Daemon almost in an instant carrying three bags of food from a famous Chinese resto nearby
“I can’t let you go hungry. It could affect your brain function.”
Yeah, whatever serves your excuse, Daemon.
“Thanks!”
She helped him arrange the food on the table and settled herself in the opposite chair ready to dig in but he didn’t join her to her disappointment.
“Where are you going, Daemon? Aren’t you going to eat too?” she asked, perplexed when he started fixing his suit.
“I already had my breakfast. You eat here. I gotta go.”
Losing her appetite, she dropped the chopsticks and stared directly at him. “With Maddy. Yeah, I totally get it. I mean, who am I really? I’m just your wife.”
Daemon sighed and then laughed afterwards when he realized why she’s acting this way. “Are you jealous of Maddy?”
“Am I supposed to?” her voice and brows raised.
“Am I giving you a reason?”
“Yes! You’re giving me so many reasons. One, you ate with her.”
Chuckling, he brushed the side of her face using his palm and headed for the door. “Cute. I really have to go. See you later.”
Despite her objections, Daemon still left her alone in his creepy big office. She has no choice but to turn her frustration into food stuffing herself until she can’t stand up. Just thinking about what they could be doing now makes her lose her mind so she just laid on the couch and tried hard to fall asleep never minding to see the rest of the office as what she originally planned.
She wakes up sometime later feeling a little too cozy while in a warmth embrace of Daemon’s coat, her head is nicely snuggled on his own lap. His arm was lightly placed on her shoulder as he leaned on the side of the sofa sleeping silently.
Devon carefully moved to watch him sleep to prevent him from waking up.
“I told you, you’d only get bored,” he suddenly said, making her jolt in shock.
“I didn’t. I’m just sleepy but I’m not bored,” she reasoned out and tried getting up but he didn’t let her and tightened his hold on her shoulder.
“Was the meeting over?” she just asked to divert her attention from his hand that’s moving sensually on her back.
“Yes. Will you sleep in my room tonight?”
She lifted her head to glance at him but he kept his eyes closed. “Do you want me to?”
“I sure do.”
“Okay, I’ll sleep with you. I meant it literally,” she said blushing.
He grinned and slowly opened his eyes to meet hers. “Good.”
“On one condition.”
He groaned. “Why did I ever ask? What is it?”
“Let’s eat breakfast tomorrow. Together.”
He looked down on her and nodded before shutting off his eyes, exhaustion in his face.
“Daemon.”
“Hmm.”
“Your office is creepy just like you.”
Pulling her closer to his body, he caressed her cheek gently. “I know, Dev. I know.”
