Third person’s pov:
“Hey, who is there?” Nicholas asked as he pulled the doorknob open.
“Hi……” standing there was Nengi all smiling with a glass of wine in her hand.
“Where are you here?” With no emotions, Nicholas asked.
“Oh! Am I not allowed in here again?” Patting her lashes she muttered.
“Come in…..” Staring at her for some minutes Nicholas reluctantly mumbled.
“Thanks…..” Said Nengi.
Nicholas rashly closes the door, turning around and he was startled by the disgusted look Nengi was giving him.
“What….?” He confusingly muttered.
“Gosh!….. really what has come over you?” Nengi bewilderingly asked, “You look…. Oh! Gosh, this is serious,” she mumbled.
“What’s wrong? Why all this drama?”
“Just take a look at your room, take a look at your room Nicholas and ask me again what’s wrong….”
Unhurriedly glancing around his room, “And is that why you are acting up….?” With his eyes fixed on her, he asked.
“Oh! Spare me that Nico, your room is a mess. Your room is in a total mess, it is messed up!….” She disgustingly scowls.
“Whatever,” Nicholas carelessly mumbled.
“Just don’t tell me that this is where you have been sleeping! This whole place stinks…. it fucking stinks, Nico,”
“It is none of your business….” He mumbled when walking towards the bed.
“It is my business, Nicholas……you just look tattered and unhappy it looks like something is……
” SHUT UP……” Nicholas almost yelled at her, “I have had enough of your ranting, now leave,”
“Seriously,” Nengi surprisingly gaped at him. This is the first time that Nicholas was raising his voice on her, the Nicholas she knew was always after her and her alone but looks like things weren’t like that anymore which twists her heart.
“Nic…… Nico……. las,” the words trembled out of her lips as she looked hurt and uncomfortable.
Swiveling around, Nicholas stared at her with a narrowed expression. Striding towards her, as Nengi let out a pretense cry, Nicholas embrace her in a deep hug.
Patting her back, he calmly muttered “Hey, stop crying…. You know I hate to see your tears,”
Burying her head in his chest, Nengi’s smile widened at the last word that Nicholas muttered, “But you hurt me……you just yelled at me,” she decisively let out a sob.
“And I am very sorry for that, to be sincere with you I don’t know that I raised my voice at you,” rubbing her back, he mumbled as he drew a circle around her back.
“It is fine……” she slowly whispered, “But what has been bothering you for days now?” Looking at him, she questioned.
“Nothing, I am serious, it is not something serious,” he muttered as he spurned it with his hands.
“Come on, Nico….. tell me,” she insists.
“Is nothing and besides I don’t want to bother you with my troubles,” he muttered before going to sit down on his sofa.
“Fine since you said that it is nothing though I didn’t believe that, I think we should just have a drink……… she mumbled, ” You know that good drinks lessen the burden and soften the heart,” she openly declared with a devilish smirk.
“Don’t reject my offer, Nico,” she muttered, noticing that Nicholas wanted to decline the offer.
Looking defeated, he mumbled, “Sure thing, why not….” He let out a forced smile.
“Great!…” Nengi exclaimed happily as she strolls towards the sofa almost to Nicholas as their skin could touch now and then.
“Why is something so impossible to end?” Nicholas muttered after some hours of drinking. Nengi glanced at him and continued her drink ignoring him.
“It was always staring at you in the face no matter how much you tried to avoid or deny it,”
“No matter whatever you do the truth will remain and confidently look you dead in the eye……” focusing his attention on thin air, he kept letting it all out.
“Why are you speaking in parables?” Glimpsing at him, she asked.
“Is nothing, Nengi,” he signed.
“Come on, Nico, I know you wanted to open up your troubles to someone and I promise that the person is me…… look I am here for you ok,” holding his cheeks in her two palms, she voiced out.
A bitter smile curled up his lips, as pain flickers his eyes but he masked it immediately and looked away, “Derrick is mated to Mira…..” He says.
“Come on, everyone knows that he is mated to that nobody….” She sarcastically muttered, as Nicholas unexpectedly released a warning growl. Nengi’s eyes glowed in shock as Nicholas’s sudden behavior startled her.
“I am sorry for that……” he apologized. He was confused and bewildered at himself on why he growled at Nengi for talking foul of Mira.
“I am damn sorry I didn’t know when I growled at you like I wasn’t…. play.. planning to do that, you know,” nervously stretching the nape of his neck, he muttered as he too couldn’t understand himself and his sudden growl. His sudden behavior and thoughts fear him to the core.
“Is nothing I understand….” With a phony smile, Nengi barely whispered.
“I am sorry, Nengi, for shouting at you…. You don’t deserve to be treated badly,” he expressed as Nengi’s smile widened.
“I have forgiven you, Nico,”
“Sure about that….” He drew.
“Yeah, sure thing,” all smiley as she seductively muttered.
“Yeah, she is truly a nobody,” he forced the words out as they felt too heavy on his lips. “But the thing is that……….” His expression darkened and looked serious as he uttered.
“Derrick will be getting married to her on the next full moon……”
“What!!…..” Nengi surprisingly screamed.
“As in he will be getting married to that girl Mira…..”
“Yes….” Nodding, Nicholas replied.
Wiggling her head, she kept muttering “no…. no……no…. no this can’t be true, you are joking right,”
Glaring seriously at her, he asked with a hazardous tone “Do I look like a joker to you?”
“No!…..” She instantly replied, “But the thing is that this thing is surreal to be true,” Nengi felt like she should be happy that it was Derrick but part of her feel heavy knowing that Nicholas’s sudden behavior of being restless and uncomfortable was because of Mira
“But how did you know….?” She uttered with curiosity.
Gulping his drink in one go, he muttered “During the conservation that we had with our parents, it is obvious that they all wanted this to happen to the extent that they have everything sorted out already…..”
“But how could he carry out such a plan without the notification of the other rank members….” She muttered with a hint of anger in her voice, she kind of looked pain and hurt.
“He always has his way,” reluctantly shrugging, he muttered with a bitter smile. “Though he planned on informing the rank members soon…..”
“But he will be present as some rituals that need to be done that day require his presence……” Nicholas said.
“Which rituals and why is his presence?” Nengi confusingly asked as her ear pecked up to get the full information.
“The ritual to bind us three together as mates…..” He heartbroken muttered with a sad smile curling his lips.
“So why his presence…..?”
“He is the only one that can bind us together…” he professed.
“So that means if he is absent that the ritual couldn’t be carried on….?” Nengi desperately said with hope and other emotions flickering in her eyes.
“Nope…..” Nicholas uttered.
“What!……” she exclaimed as her once hopeful eyes turned dull and bleak.
“Another person can do that…..” He concludes.
“And who is that person?” She asked.
“He has refused to say that, till he is sure that we have accepted our bond then before the full moon he will tell us the person…..” He angrily muttered.
“How pathetic,” he uttered a profanity.
“But you seem to hurt, why don’t you reject her and cut any bond you guys share or have,” she reluctantly muttered.
He almost growled at her for such a suggestion but he controlled himself, “I wish that I could….”
“Yes, you could…..” She chimed with desperation, “Wait a minute! Do you like her? Please don’t tell me that you have feelings for that thing…..” She resentfully muttered with disgust.
Letting out a small smile, “My title is at stake if I reject her,” he mumbed.
“No….. no….. no way, what is all this,” she confusingly uttered.
“That wench of a girl,” she cursed under her breath, “You think that you can climb higher and rub it in my face but you lie….” She furiously whispered more to herself.
Turning around, he whispered more to Nengi’s hearing “You are the first person that is aware apart from Mira…..”
“She also knew about this whole thing…..?” She gaped at him.
“Yes….” He shortly replied.
Nengi’s heart breaks at each word that Nicholas muttered, uncomfortably sipping her drink she fought her tears from sliding down. Fear crept into her as she felt that Mira is climbing her way up with confidence and without struggling unlike her that have to put in her all to make perfection.
“I am not going to receive defeat just like that…..
” I won’t give up without a try and a fight. I am the only daughter of Peter the great gamma of this pack, I can’t let myself and my father down. I will show her what I truly made of, enough of sitting down and playing dog and bull game with her.
“I need to strike before the next full moon…. ” Peeping at Nicholas she let out a phony smile as a devilish plan surged into her head.
“What a way to go, Mira…….
