Serenity’s hair suddenly got released from her hair tie and started swaying with cool breeze. She struggled to tame it with her dirty hands.
“Excuse me, where is the library?”
Serenity froze i her place when she heard Nicolai’s voice.
Her heart skipped a beat for a second. She quickly lowered her hair and let her hair curtain her face from his eyes.
Nicolai looked at the girl confused. She was looking small in baggy uniform, her long hair was completely covering her face.
“That way your majesty”
Serenity changed her voice a bit and pointed towards the direction.
Nicolai ignored her and walked away.
Serenity finally looked up and tried to calm her breathing. Her heart was beating erotically. She grabbed the mop and bucket and ran towards her room.
“I can’t do this… What if they see me. It will take ugly turn… I shouldn’t be here… I wanted to see them for one last time and i did. I have nothing to say, there is nothing to talk… Everything ended at the moment when they showed me that they doesn’t trust me even a bit… And if there is no trust then there is nothing for me…”
She rubbed her face defeated.
“I am getting weak day by day… I can’t handle this much work… I should leave.”
She tied her hair and walked towards the Principal’s office. She knocked on the door and entered.
Principal was a wizard, the old man with long white beard and wrinkly face. But he is a good man. His office was very interesting, he has oldest paintings and many antiques.
“Good evening sir.”
Serenity greeted.
“Sera… Come dear… How are you?”
He said joyfully.
“I am fine sir thank you… Actually i___”
She started but he cut her off.
“I was going to call you here, good that you came by yourself… Come sit”
He said and She sat on the chair in front of him.
“I am so glad that you joined us and working so hard for almost five years… You are a very responsible person. And I want to give you a very important work…”
He said and she looked at him confused.
“I want you to assist kings throughout their stay Here”
He declared and her eyes widened.
“Sir i am really very sorry but i can’t accept this task… Infact I am here to quit.”
She said in one breath.
Now it was his time to wide his eyes.
“Why?”
He asked in disbelief.
“I have some personal reasons, i have to go somewhere.”
She replied.
“Serenity i know you are loosing your powers”
He said and her eyes snapped towards her.
He sighed.
“See, it’s your personal life. But When I saw you for the first time, I knew that you are not someone normal but I understood that you wanted to stay hidden… I had no problem with that… But from last few months i have seen changes in you… This university is my responsibility and trust me I know every little thing which is happening here… You took very tough tasks in the beginning but i can see you are struggling now…”
“Sir, I stole the flower…”
She said looking down guiltily.
“I know, but i assume you have a very strong reason… You have been loyal for all these years, so i let it go this time…”
He said.
“Thank you sir… I promise it won’t happen again.”
She replied gratefully.
“Serenity, if you tell me then may be i can help you… You are like my daughter and we need a good soul like you.”
He said.
“I don’t think anything can happen now. It’s too late…”
She shook her head.
“And i want it to end, sir… I have lived enough, i want to go now… There is nothing in this life.”
“I assume you must be older than me?”
He chuckled.
“Otherwise eighteen years old girl won’t say this.”
He said and she gave him small smile.
“Life is beautiful sera and you should be ungrateful like this… I hope there is a strong reason behind this decision… Because my heart breaks when someone like you looses hope.”
“Sir, I have made my mind… I need to leave from here…”
She said.
“Wait for few more days… Until this event ends… Don’t do anything but don’t leave.”
He requested.
“Don’t assist kings you doesn’t want it.”
She sighed.
“Sir, It’s not that… I can do work but I___”
“You are not leaving… Few days more… Then go wherever you want.”
He demanded, he wasn’t ready to listen. Serenity couldn’t say no, it wasn’t her nature.
“Okay, fine…”
She said defeated.
“That’s my girl…”
He took out the small bottle from the drawer which was made up of glass.
“This is a potion, I won’t promise that it will cure you but It will give you relief from the pain.”
She smiled at him.
“It’s so sweet of you but this won’t work on me… It will be waste, you can use this on someone who actually needs it.”
“What do mean by it won’t work on you?”
He questioned confused.
“Nothing works on me…”
She smiled bitterly.
“What are you exactly?”
He asked in dilemma.
She smiled bitterly.
“For now, just a weak human who is counting her days… I’ll take your permission now…”
She left with that.
He sighed.
“You are not a weak human, serenity… You are far more than that and You are not dying, you are suffering from something which has cure… I hope you find your destination very soon.”
Serenity walked out of the office and head towards the garden where she need to water plants.
‘I should have denied him but he is so sweet, i don’t want to upset him… What do I do now, it will be hard to hide from them. It’s not like i am scared of them but i don’t know how to deal with it… For them i am betrayer, I have hurt them and i have nothing to prove myself innocent… It will be waste to even talk, they won’t understand… And i don’t want to do that either because our relationship died when tagged me as as betrayer within few seconds… We are mates, we are supposed to trust each other but may be they never trusted me… Just like everyone i was just a monster for them…’
She sighed defeated and threw the bucket inside the wall which was tied to the thick rope. She embraced herself for the hardwork because fetching water from the well is not an easy task.
She grabbed the robe and started pulling it out, after few minutes she grabbed the bucket while panting heavily. Her hand started stinging which were already bruised.
She poured the bucket near plants and took a exhausted breath. She turned around to continue her work but froze in her place when she saw Nicolai standing in front of her.
Her stomach churned as his emotionless eyes wondered on her face. He was standing like a mountain in front of her and she has no idea what to do.
