She raised her head, and her almond-shaped eyes meeting his dark ones firmly, which radiated a slight glow because of certainty. He looked deeply into her eyes, as if he would look into her soul just like this.
Josephine’s hand trembled harder, as she found the shape of his eyebrows, the slightly upturned corner of the eyes, the stubbornness that loved to choose black under any circumstances, resembled another person.
Her heart suddenly beat fast.
Her eyes were wet immediately, and Josephine stood up, and covered her mouth as she tried desperately to suppress herself from crying out loud.
It was really him. It was her son. What about that guy? Was he here too?
He was jammed in the crowd when she entered the market just now, and that was why she didn’t see him?
He finally found her, right?
“No, I’m not your mom.”
She ruthlessly pushed away his small hand with force and turned around to run. But Lochlan hurriedly chased after her, the childish voice kept shouting anxiously behind her, “Mom, mom…”
Josephine’s heart ached as she walked faster and faster. Lochlan ran after him, his feet suddenly tripped over a rock and his forehead fell onto the ground.
He cried out loud immediately.
Hearing his cries, Josephine finally turned around with a heartache. As soon as she saw the blood seeping out of his forehead, she didn’t even think about anything and rushed up to hold him in her arms and checked his injuries.
Lochlan was held in her arms. He suddenly stretched his hands to hug her neck, and his sobbing gradually stopped. His voice was shaking, his small hands tightly wrapped around her shoulders, “Mom, don’t leave…”
Her heart was painful as if a piece had been ripped out by someone.
Josephine hugged Lochlan tightly, and tears fell down at once.
“Lochlan.”
Regan dispatched most of the bodyguards he brought with him to look for the missing Lochlan in the market, and as soon as he saw his figure, he rushed up to him. When he saw Josephine, who was holding Lochlan, his mouth opened wide in dismay.
“Miss…Josephine?” He was not mistaken, was he?
Josephine fiercely wiped her tears and let go of Lochlan. She stood up from the ground, looked at Regan in shock, and subconsciously looked behind him. There were bodyguards in black suits who are searching in the market, but she did not see Reginald.
“Miss Josephine.”
Regan walked over, his voice revealed a hint of incredulity, “You’re really here, the young master said he saw you just now, and Reginald and I searched around but couldn’t find you. I didn’t expect that the young master finally found you.”
Josephine looked at Lochlan in surprise. Lochlan raised his little head with a proud smile and said, “I was sure of it when I saw mommy for the first time. You look exactly the same as in those pictures that daddy looks at every day.”
Josephine abruptly pulled Lochlan to Regan’s side, took out a handkerchief to wipe the blood stain on his forehead, and said to him in a trembling voice, “Baby, be a good boy, and go back with Uncle Regan. Keep the matter of seeing me today a secret from dad for mommy, okay?”
Regan quickly spoke out to stop her when he heard this, “Miss Josephine, Reginald has been looking for you for three years…”
“Don’t say it.”
Josephine looked up at him coldly, “Let those bodyguards leave now, don’t disturb the business in the market. I’ll leave now. I beg you, don’t tell Reginald, as I’ve divorced him three years ago. We are not related anymore, and I don’t want any of you to disturb my life now.”
She blocked Regan with a few words, and Josephine took one more a deep look at Lochlan, who extremly resembled Reginald, and resisted the pain to turn her head and left.
Lochlan immediately went after her, ignoring his injured head. Josephine ran forward furiously this time without looking back, and soon left him behind. Regan hurriedly went forward and hugged his waist from behind when Lochlan was about to follow and rushed out to the road. Lochlan kept struggling in his arms, and his hand reached out towards Josephine’s direction, crying out loud, “Mom, mom…”
