Honestly, I find the entire thing confusing, but the human counterpart changed them to werewolves. Leaving no Lycans and the world is a better place for it.
“There are no pure Lycans left. You mean your wolf?” I find myself answering before I can stop myself. Now is not the time for a history lesson.
“Not in your bloodline. I was born on the 12th cycle. My bloodline is different, therefore I can’t reject you,” he growls out, clearly annoyed at whatever his words mean.
A sigh leaves me. I refuse to be some side whore for when he wants pups. I will not subject myself to that. “Fine, I will do it then,” I tell him defiantly, trying not to show how much saying those words truly affect me.
However, I’m not given a chance to speak them when I find myself slammed against the wall. Pain shoots through my back, and I find myself staring into his dark cold eyes. “You will do no such thing, Marabella. You weaken me and I will kill you, along with everyone you hold dear. I may not want you, but don’t, for one second, think that I will let anyone else have what’s mine. Understood?”
His words anger me. It is one thing to threaten me, but my family. Who the fuck does he think he is? A laugh escapes me and he growls, shoving me away. “First of all, you don’t own me, and secondly, do you think you could take on my mother?” I chuckle in disbelief.
Kyan smirks, his eyes flicker menacingly. “She isn’t the only Goddess, and she ain’t my god. Blessed, you think that is what she is, blessed by the moon. Well, my bloodline is something else and you will find out what that is if you don’t obey me,” he threatens, the tone of his voice makes goosebumps rise on my arms when his eyes change to a demonic black. What on earth is he?
“I will not be some side whore for you to breed with. If you don’t want me, then just reject me!” I snap at him.
I usually avoid confrontation, like it is a plague, but something about the way he is talking to me and about my family angers something deep within me, even Kora comes forward, enraged.
Kyan smirks and steps forward, his chest presses against mine, and I am forced to crane my neck to look up at him. However, I refuse to simply back down.
“You, my love, will be whatever I choose you to be and nothing more,” he snarls, making Kora growl, and I have to fight the urge to shift as she lurches forward.
Kyan laughs when she shoves me forward, my canines slip from my gums before I shriek and sink my teeth into his arm. His breath moves across the back of my neck. Kyan has moved at the last second as he wraps his strong muscular arms around me, pulling me back against his chest.
“You are no match for the power that I possess. You will do well to remember that next time. I won’t be so forgiving again,” he growls before pressing his face into my neck.
He shudders, his grip becoming tighter on me. I try not to focus on the feel of his body pressing against my back or his strong arms wrapped around me in a vice-like grip, but it affects every piece of me, calling for him, needing him.
“You belong to me, and you will be whoever I want you to be. Is that clear, Marabella?” he snarls.
My heart is racing a million miles an hour as fear slithers up my spine, taking root within me. I bit him, I bit him, and he is alive. How is that possible?
I nod, and he releases me, and I turn to face him. He looks at me for a few seconds, then turns on his heel and walks away. My legs buckle from under me and I find myself on the ground, feeling utterly defeated. Why him? Why did he have to be my mate? I have no idea how long I am sitting here, but I am pulled out of my thoughts when I notice my mother walking toward me, the same anger bubbling up inside of me once again.
“Marabella,” she says, racing toward where I’m sitting in the corridor just outside of the bathrooms.
Rising, I glare at her. “How could you?” I ask her, unable to hide the anger and hurt from my voice.
“Pardon?” she says, stopping a bit away from me.
“You, how could you? You mated me to him! Why?” I ask. She shakes her head.
“I didn’t, and I tried to fix it, honey, I tried,” she pleads.
“So you knew all this time? You knew?”
My mother says nothing when Jonah suddenly appears from around the corner, walking toward us. He stops, and I move toward him, shoving mother out of the way when she steps in front of me.
“Marabella,” Jonah scolds, looking alarmed at my action, but right now I really didn’t care.
“Marabella, let me explain!” she calls after me.
“No, you had eighteen years to fucking explain!” I shout, refusing to stop as I make my way out, only to be stopped by Jonah. He grips my arms, looking between us. Trying to make sense of what is going on.
“Marabella,” my mother calls out again, but I ignore her.
“What’s going on?” Jonah asks again, this time his voice sharper, and he looks back at my mother.
“It doesn’t matter,” I tell him.
“Let’s just talk this out, please, baby.” Mom tries again.
“I am done having you preach your bullshit to me, I am fucking done, he doesn’t want me, okay!” I scream at her. I have never heard myself so angry before, I have never expressed this sort of rage that now leaves my lips… I don’t sound like myself.
“Wait, who doesn’t want you?” Jonah asks, and I rub my eyes, trying to contain my anger.
“Kyan! Kyan is my mate, and he doesn’t want me! Did you get enough answers? Can I leave now?” I tell him angrily and he suddenly lets me go, taking a step back from me.
“No, wait… Kyan is your mate?” Jonah asks, shocked, looking back toward the hall. A silence falls between us as the weight of the situation crashes down on all three of us.
