Daniel’s POV

‘Roman? If you are hearing this, then please talk to me, buddy. I know what I did was wrong, but I promise that I won’t repeat them and will try to make up for it.’, I said, but he didn’t say anything. ‘I need to call a pack meeting and for that, I need your help. I just can’t knock from door to door to call every one of them on the ground.’
No response again.
I sighed and walked out of Nora’s room. Nora quickly stood on her feet from the couch and looked at me with concern. I wanted to blame her for everything that happened, but I knew that anyone who was to be blamed was me.
“Is everything all right between you two?”, She asked, waiting for Angel to come out of the room, but she had already left without anyone’s notice.
“It will be.” Hopefully. I muttered.
“Let me talk with her.”, She said, walking past me, but I held her arms, stopping her from entering her room.
“She is not there.”, I said, on which she looked at me in confusion. “She left, Nora.”
“Left? What do you mean by ‘she LEFT?’ I didn’t see her leaving. Otherwise, I won’t have let her go anywhere.”, She countered back. I released her hand so that she could check on her own so that she would believe me then. I looked for my other family members and finally found them in the garden, sitting with Diana. They were interrogating her or say knowing her in a better way. At the same time, I observed Diana’s behavior for a while before going over there.
She was checking her phone from time to time, and my gut feeling was telling me that this behavior of her had some connection with Eva. Whether they’re chatting or what?
‘I need to steal her phone.’, I thought and then shook my stupid idea because I would get caught if I would do something that stupid. Instead, I should get this work done by her mate. She wouldn’t doubt her mate, right?
‘All I need to know is the location of my mate. I hope wherever she is! She is safe.’, I thought, and that’s when Nora entered the scene screaming and panicking.
“Mom, Dad, Aunt!, Sister-in-law is left.”
“What do you mean by LEFT?”, Aunt asked.
“LEFT is the past tense of LEAVE. And LEAVE means ‘go away from'”, Nora replied sarcastically.
“Nora.” I glared at her for talking with Aunt in this tone, but Nora ignored me and vomited everything in front of everyone. Since I had given sent Stephen to handle the work of rouge personally, so he was not there, and observing Diana’s expression, it was clear that she was aware of everything.
“I can’t believe this.” Dad shook his head and glared at Aunt. “How could you suggest something that stupid to Daniel?” he asked angrily.
“Dad, please don’t say a word to Aunt. If anyone here is at fault, then that’s me, not her. I shouldn’t have followed her suggestion, so please scold me but not her.”, I pleaded.
“Of course! You’re an idiot, and there’s no doubt about that. And I don’t want to say a thing to you, do you know why? Because Eva has already punished you by leaving you.”, Dad sneered. “And don’t forget that your aunt was my sister before first, then she became your aunt. So, I have all right to scold my sister. Did you get that clear?” he asked, to which I nodded my head.
Shit!
I was not the only one who was in trouble.
“Now, Emma! Tell me, why did you suggest something like that to Daniel?”
“Br.. Brother….
“Is this the way husband and wife stay together? By controlling wife? Have you lost your mind, or have you never had one? Because whatever I have heard from Nora, it makes me feel like you were trying to break their relationship instead of mending things between them.”
“I want to mend things between them, Brother. But never did I know that things would turn out like this.”, Aunt replied.
Dad shook his head, not buying her reason, and I could see that his wolf was on the surface. Without Roman’s presence, I could sense how dad’s wolf aura was forcing me to submit in front of him. Aunt looked at me helplessly. I wished I could have helped her, but without my wolf, I was nothing but a human in front of dad. On the top, dad had already made this very clear that he was talking to his sister, not my aunt.
“Mending things by destroying my son’s relationship with his wife. That’s a different thing that she turned out to be his mate as well, huh?” he chuckled, and it sent a shiver down my spine. He looked like he wanted to murder someone. “Do you really think that I’m stupid just like my son? If you want to play dumb, then I will play along.”, he told her.
“You were the one who has been acted as a mother to me since his childhood. I never controlled my mate just like I wanted to. It was just that she willingly adjusted to my lifestyle without any complaint. Yes, our father, forefather, and others used to do that. So, it was you who filled this SHIT in Daniel’s mind. Do you know what, it’s not even your fault; it’s my fault that I didn’t observe how my son was being raised!! I knew he didn’t believe in the mate and mate bond, but it was my mistake that I didn’t teach him how he should behave if he found one. And what did you suggest when he came to you for help? Planning and Plotting? Is this how you would have handled your relationship?” he growled.
That woman kept her hand on dad’s arms to calm her down.
While Aunt’s lips parted and she crosse her arms, she tried to look unbothered, but I doubt that. Without wolf, I was feeling intimated by dad’s wolf then she was no different from me. Maybe now she understood how Nora had put her into big trouble.
“Answer me, Or I need to use violence to open your mouth!”
“No. I wouldn’t have handled the situation like this if I was him.”, She responded. “But all thanks to your son, I never get a chance to be with my mate because of him. My mate got killed because of his carelessness. I wanted him to go through the same pain which I had felt. The pain which I felt when James left me. Not this; my wolf couldn’t bear the pain of her mate’s loss and left him. That’s why I wanted to snatch his ANGEL from him. And I would have planned against him again and again and again until I would have been successful. But seems like fate was on my side; his MATE left him too quickly than I had assumed.”
Tears started dwelling in my eyes when I heard her.
I knew the pain that I gave to my angel was beyond a person thrown into a fire.
But now, I could feel the same pain.
The pain of betrayal from the person whom you trust the most.
The pain of betrayal from the person who is closer to your heart.
Now, I realized why did she fight with me because the pain and hurt were too much to handle. Now I realized that I almost killed her by breaking her trust.
I tried to breathe but couldn’t. I felt something heavy on my heart that I wasn’t able to take away from here.
Aunt kept saying a lot of things, but I couldn’t focus now. My head was getting heavy, and I was having a hard time standing over there.
‘Nothing happens by chance, by fate. You create your own fate by your actions. That’s Karma.’
At last, I heard everyone shouting my name when I fell down to the ground because of the unbearable pain. I smiled softly, seeing my angel’s face because darkness consumed me.

‘Hey, wake up!’
‘Wake up, you idiot human!’
‘You’re not allowed to leave me. Did you get that clear?’
‘Open your eyes and speak to me.’
‘Are you going to play sleeping beauty now?’
‘I promise that I will never leave you even for a second. Please talk to me, Daniel.’ Roman requested, trying his best to wake me up from my deep slumber.
‘Promise?’ I finally spoke.
‘I promise. In fact…hold on! Were you awake the whole time? And just wanted me to see begging in front of you?” he growled, on which I tried to open my eyes but quickly shut them to adjust my vision as per the light.
‘No. I just woke up and found you talking like a non-stop radio in my mind.’, I replied and finally opened my eyes. ‘By the way, for many hours I was out?’ I asked.
‘Two days.’
‘Excuse me?’ I asked him in shock.
‘Yeah. Thanks to me for that. In the absence of me, you got a mild heart attack.’, he said, feeling guilty. ‘If anything would have happened to you, then I couldn’t have forgiven myself throughout my life. I’m so sorry for not being there for you when you needed me the most.’ he apologized.
‘It’s okay, Roman. We both have done our own shares of wrong things; that’s why Moon goddess paired us together.’ I chuckled to enlighten his mood. ‘But this incident made me realize something.’
‘What’s that?’
‘That I’m not heartless.’ I smiled and smelt around. Angel’s scent was not here. It meant she didn’t come to see me even after…
‘Don’t repeat the same mistake. Mate used to care for us no matter how pissed she used to be with us. I don’t think that she has any idea about what happened with you; otherwise, she will be here by now.’
‘Hmm. You’re right.’
‘Any other update when I was out?’
‘Umm…nothing much, but I felt that your mother loves you a lot. She used to be by your side all the time, talking to you, asking you, or say requesting you to wake up. Dad used to send her away from your room. Even right now, he had sent her away to get freshen up.’
‘Hmm.’
‘I think she’s not the wrong person, Dan. I’m sure there will be some reason behind her stranger behavior that night.’
‘Can we just not talk about that topic for now? We will resume this topic when our mate will be here. Because in her presence, I feel complete and strong enough to handle everything.’
‘Okay! As you say.’
“You are awake.” Dad entered my room, holding breakfast in his hand. “My wolf had sensed that. That’s why I have brought breakfast for you.”
“Let me freshen up before.”, I responded and left the bed. I had thought that I might feel weak after a heart attack, but I was perfectly fine.
‘You can thank me for that.’, Roman said proudly, on which I rolled my eyes.

Dad didn’t say a word until I was having my breakfast. ‘But I could tell that he wanted to say something, maybe waiting for me to finish my breakfast.
“What you wolf did..” he started speaking the moment I kept the empty plate on the desk beside the table.
“Dad, please don’t raise this topic. Everything has been sorted out between us now.”, I said, cutting him in between. I knew this was coming because this type of behavior was not tolerated in the werewolf law. The humans get a chance to change their wolf if their wolves end up risking their humans’ life because of their stupidity. “My mate didn’t reject me because of him even after I broke her trust, then how could I be mean to him when he made a mistake.” I reasoned out.
“What can I say now on that when you have already decided! By the way, do you know where your mate is? And how did she leave? Because Nora said that she didn’t see Eva leaving the room that day.”, Dad asked.
“I know how she left but have no idea about where she is now?” I replied. “At the same time, I know what I have to do to make things right for my mate.” I smiled, thinking about my sweet plan. It was not planning or plotting, but at the same time, I knew she wouldn’t miss coming here.
