Evangeline’s POV
.
I almost ran out of the dad’s office and rushed out of the packhouse. I was feeling thirsty, and I knew it was not the water I wanted to drink.
Damn it!
I wanted to escape from here as soon as possible. The moment, I was out of the pack. I stopped my car and snifted around, rubbing my throat. I needed blood.
I quickly ran away from there in search of any wild animals before I lost control of my own body. I kept running in search of my prey, but my feet froze when I smelt the smell of blood; because I could have control of myself, I reached near the kitchen window of the forest officer who had cut his finger while chopping something.
‘Don’t. Don’t think of doing that, Eva!’ Ivory warned, but I was blinded with hunger. ‘Someone else is also here.’, She said, wind around me.
‘I’m not going to share my food.’ I had mentally prepared for that. And the third wheel between me and my food was standing in front of me, raising his hand in the air. He smelled like a human, but his pale white skin and golden eyes said otherwise.
He was a vampire.
But then again, how could he walk in the sunlight freely?
Was he like me?
“Let the human go! I have food.”, he said, to which I narrowed my eyes.
Who the hell was he?
And why was he offering me his help?
“I mean no harm. It’s just drinking human blood is forbidden. The consequence of the crime is the death of the vampire and his or her family, if any, by the vampire king.” My jaw tightened in anger, and I ran away from there.
I needed food, but not for the sake of risking my family’s life, and at the same time, I didn’t take help from that unknown vampire. Unluckily I didn’t find a single creature who could fill my big appetite. I reached back to my car and was ready to leave that stupid place.
That was when I realized that I could control my thirst by thinking about my family, those people who were close to me, and the first face that appeared in front of my eyes was my MATE.
Still, I couldn’t risk anyone’s life, so I dialed Diana’s number.
“Hey, sweetheart!”
“Are you alone?” I asked, to which she didn’t reply anything for a minute
“I’m now.”
“Get a bottle of any blood from the blood bank.”
“Okayyyy!! And what will I say to Stephen? He can smell blood.”
“Just ask him to trust you, and you will share everything when the right time comes.”, I responded. I wouldn’t suggest her to lie to her mate because lying is poisonous to relationships.
‘Say the one who is hiding her truth from her own mate.’, Ivory scoffed.
‘I will tell him everything today, okay? Not stop taunting me.’, I grumbled. I was thinking of sharing all the things which I found out about myself today because all this information was too much to handle.
‘Rogue.’, Ivory warned their presence, and I had enough time to run away from there, but I didn’t. Instead, I waited for them to make my breakfast. By sensing their scent, I could tell that they were three.
“What do we have here? A pretty and sexy human”, I heard one of them taunting, looking at me. I turned around to see them for the first time in my life. They were scrawny and malnourished human by their looks.
“At first, we will taste each and every part of her body, and then will eat her mercilessly.”, The second one commented.
“I will taste her the first.”, the Third one commented, on which the rest of the two nodded. At the same time, I was amused seeing their confidence level. The third one walked toward me, making his first move while I just stayed still, leaning against my car’s door lazily.
“Aren’t you scared, sweetheart?”, He asked with a sinister smile playing on his lips.
“Scared? But from whom?” I mocked before kneading him on his crotch, grabbing his head, and pulling it off his shoulders. I tossed his head to his other partners. They growled at me and shifted immediately without wasting a single second.
I thought that I could handle them alone, but I was so wrong when they kicked my ass.
‘This is what happens when you think of fighting when you don’t know how to fight with wolves.’, Ivory commented.
‘They have each other’s back. When I concentrate on one, the other one attacks me from the back like a coward.’
“Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. Two against one? Where are your manners, rogue?” I heard the same familiar voice around me. The same vampire was there whom I had found in the middle of the forest, and within a few seconds, he killed one of the werewolves.
What the…
“The remaining is for you.”, He said, looking at the rogue who was ready to run away from that place, and he really did. But I picked my ass which was on the ground, and ran behind him.
“STOP RUNNING!” I screamed while running behind him, and the last thing I knew, everything around me froze. Like, literally froze.
‘What was happening around?’ I asked, looking around.
‘I guess that you vampire power ‘to stop the time.”
‘But I didn’t do anything.’
‘Well, you had said ‘STOP RUNNING,’ and at the same time, deep down in your head, you wanted him to stop. So, maybe it worked. I’m not exactly sure, but any special powers work only when they come from the heart.’
“Move,” I said, but nothing and no one around me moved an inch.
‘See, your power didn’t work when it didn’t come directly from your heart.’, Ivory pointed.
‘Great. I think I got this.’ I smiled and quickly ran in front of the rogue and focused on everything to move, and it worked. He looked shocked to see me in front of him. He raised his paw to attack me, but I punched his face before that, and he was thrown away. While he was in the air, I used my speed again. Grabbing his tail and smashed him on the ground up and front like hulk did it to Loki in avengers.
He soon turned into a naked and malnourished, injured human. Seeing his blood, my fang extended, and I sucked it in his neck. He shouted, cried, and begged because of the pain, but I didn’t let him go. Not until I made sure that not a single amount of blood was left in his blood.
“Easy tigress!” I heard that voice again. I glared at him, wiping the blood from my mouth. He quickly raised his hand in surrender. “I mean no harm.”
“Who are you, and why are you following me?”
“I’m Silas. The only motive of my creation is to serve you and make you get along with your powers and vampire things. Long story short, you’re a newly shifted vampire, so I have to make sure of your as well as others’ safety.”
“How can I trust you?” I asked, narrowing my eyes.
“I guess your Lycan can smell that.”
“You know about her?”
“I know a lot about you, Miss. As I said before, I’m created to serve you, so I kind of have done my homework already. Each vampire-Lycan hybrid is gifted with a guardian from both the world. I believe you already know about your werewolf guardian.”
“And you are my vampire guardian.”
“I see! You’re catching the thing.”
“How can you walk in the sunlight?”
“That’s my gift.”
“And how can you smell like a human?”
“Ahh! That question was something that I was not expecting. But anyway, that’s the master’s gift, i. e., to cloak himself or the others.”
‘The same power which I have.’, Ivory responded. ‘I mean, I can cloak you or the others, but I can do that on myself because of which no one can sense my presence.’, She explained.
“And why did your master help you by using his gift?”
“Because he…he wanted me to complete my work in a proper way with this gift, knowing that I might have to stay near the werewolves while protecting you.”
“Who created you?”
“My master.”
“And your master is my biological father, isn’t he?” I asked, arching my brow. He opened his mouth to say something and then closed it. “I believe that you were not expecting that question from me, were you?. Now, don’t you dare to lie because you had said earlier, I have a Lycan who can”
“Yeah! I didn’t see that question coming. I believe not all beautiful women are brainless.”, he responded.
“I will take that as my compliment.”
“So, you mentioned earlier that ‘each vampire-Lycan hybrid is gifted with a guardian from both the world.’ Does that mean I’m not the only one in this world with this power?”
“There is one more person who is like you, in fact, is in a higher position compared to you. And even he is blessed with two guardians just like you.”
“Is he my biological father?”
“Oh, no, no, no, no!”, He shook his head. “He is our vampire king. He is also a hybrid, but unlike you, his family is from the royal and pure-blooded vampire.”
“Oh, okay!” I nodded my head and then frowned. “If my biological father is not like me, then how the hell I become like this?”
“Master used to have Lycan, but his Lycan sacrificed his life to save his life when he was severely injured by the mother’s family members. So, now the master is just a vampire but yes, with a higher authority one.”
“Oh, okay!” I had a few more questions, but then he was not the right person to ask.
“You need to train yourself, tigress! Because soon this news will fly like a fire that there is one more hybrid in the world and greedy people from the world will come for you.”, He said, on which I frowned.
That was why I love my life as a human!
Earlier, I was in danger from those people who wanted to hurt Daniel by using his Luna, and now this.
“Come of me, as in? They will kill me or something like that?”
“No. They won’t kill you, but yes, they can use you as a woman who can give birth to an unlimited amount of hybrid kids, you know. Because as a woman, you’re the only vampire-Lycan hybrid.”
“What?”
“You heard me, tigress.”
“How can I believe that you’re not lying about everything?”
“I won’t repeat my answer again. But there is another way to find the truth.”
“And what’s that?” I asked, eyeing him suspiciously. However, a part of me knew that he was telling the truth, but what would go wrong if I would double-check.
“By marking me.”, he said, on which Ivory growled at him. “No. No. Not marking me as your mate!” he explained.
“Then?” I sneered.
“Marking me at my wrist. It will create a bond between us, and the bite will turn into a tattoo.”, He explained. “After marking me, you will be my master, and along with that, you will be able to feel my emotions. We can also talk through telepathically.”
“Hmm!” I nodded my head. “I’m not in a hurry in marking you as my guardian. Not until I start trusting you.”
“It’s okay. I kind of expected that. I would have been surprised if you would have agreed to mark me as your guardian instantly.”, he said and then looked at my clothes. “I believe you need to change it before your close one start questioning about it.”
Fuck!
I had forgotten that part.
I might be smelling like rouge, and I couldn’t imagine how my mate would react smelling someone’s else scent coming from me.
“Let me help you with this.”, Saying this, he ran away from there, and after a few minutes, he came back with three dresses in three different sizes. “Hope it can help.” I raised my brow, looking at the newly branded clothes. “I had left enough cash for the owner, in case you are thinking that I might have stolen it from the thrift store. I didn’t go in other section knowing that mate is an Alpha.”
I softly chuckled at his comment, “You know about him.”
“What can I say? I have already completed my homework.” he shrugged his shoulder.
“Thank you, Silas.” I gave him a small smile and thought of using my vampire powers to freeze everything and go back to dad’s packhouse to change my clothes.
“Umm.. by the way, did you find out about your vampire’s gift?”
“Yes! I did.”
“Great. You already know on what subject you will have to work on now. From tomorrow onwards, you should start your training because you don’t have much time left with you.”
“You will train me?”
“Yes! You’re Fledgeling (a newly embraced Vampire within the last 20 years, still under the protection of their Sire), so until and unless you get control of your hunger and thrust. No one can risk you staying outside our coven without training.”
“Oh! Okay. If I’m fledgeling, then what are you?”
“I’m Ancillae, the vampires who have proven themselves as valuable members of Kindred society, between 50 and 300 years. Ancillae often serve as aides and agents for elders or the court.”
“So, what’s your age?”
“I’m 83 years old now.”,
“I think this is enough for today.”
“Even I think the same.”, he laughed before speaking. “Won’t you ask anything about master or his coven?”
“Nope.”
“Well, that’s stranger. I had expected that you would ask numerous questions about him after knowing about him.”
“I’m sorry to burst your bubbles then.”
I showed him the thumb and left from there because my mind was now overflowed with all the knowledge. My vampire protector was of my grandfather’s age but looked like an adult like me.
I used my power to freeze the time before reaching dad’s packhouse.
I made sure that the smell of rogue wouldn’t come from me; otherwise, my mate would definitely accuse me of cheating on him. But no matter, whatever I did, he partially figured out the things when I reached his pack.
But surprisingly, his behavior was not violent. Ivory was pushing me hard to tell him the truth because by hiding the truth from him, I was giving him a chance to suspect us, and before I could have told him about anything, he left the room as something important came up.
This was what he told me.
I came downstairs and texted and saw mom sitting sadly on the couch.
“Hey, Mom.”, I greeted her, sitting beside her.
“Eva? You went to the work in the morning, didn’t you?”
“Yeah! I had left from here with that thought, but then something happened about which I thought to talk with Daniel. Because work can wait.”
“How did you know?”, She asked, on which I furrowed my eyes, wondering about what she was talking about. “Did Nora complaint about his brother to you?”
“Moon Goddess! Sometimes, she really behaves like a kid. Please don’t be mad at Dan for punishing Nora by not allowing her food for a day.”
“He did what?”
“You didn’t know!”, She closed her eyes, cursing herself, and then opened it. “Please forget whatever I told you before.”
I shook my head because I didn’t like the punishment that Daniel gave to Nora. Whatever she might have done, he wasn’t allowed to be so hard on his sister.
“Did Nora has her breakfast today?” I asked Mom.
“No.”
I stood on my feet and went into the kitchen. “Eva! Please don’t do this. He will get mad for disobeying his orders.”
“Guess what, mom? You might be afraid of your son’s anger, but I don’t give a damn his anger on unnecessary things. If he is like this, then half of the credit goes to all of you, and I swear I’m going to place your adult son at his place by hook or by crook.”, Saying this, I took the tray toward Nora’s room.
I smiled when I felt Ivory’s full support for my decision but little did I know that a shock was waiting for us!
