Evangeline’s POV
.
“Diana?” Daniel asked in confusion.
“Umm.. I’m not sure about her being Stephen’s mate, but she was the only one whom I hugged today while saying goodbye to her.”, I responded.
“Who’s Diana? Who’s she to you?” Stephen asked restlessly.
“She’s my roommate in the city.”
“Again, a human?” Aunt Emma asked. For some reason, it looked like she was not thrilled with this thought.
‘Only if she knew.’, Ivory muttered.
“No. She is a werewolf.”, Daniel said.
“I need the address right now.”, Stephen said, looking at both of us. “Address.”, His voice was edgy.
“But that’s just a possibility. I’m not sure about her being your mate.”
“Still, sister-in-law.”
“Alright, I will give the address.”, Daniel said, on which he looked at him. “He and his wolf are excited to check whether Diana is his mate or not, and I know he can’t wait till tomorrow morning.”. Saying this, he pulled his phone out of his pocket and sent the address which was on his phone to him.
“You had my number?” Stephen asked in surprise at first, but when he realized that his brother wasn’t going to say a thing. He waved off his question by saying, “Thanks, brother.”
‘This person was really on talking terms with his family members.’, I thought.
Stephen was about to leave when Daniel held his hand, stopping him from leaving.
“Mate or not! Behave with her nicely because I really don’t want any problem in my life with my mate because of you as Diana is like a sister to your sister in law.”, Daniel warned, on which I couldn’t stop myself from smiling. I wanted to say the same thing to him but was in a dilemma whether I should say that to him or not, but I was glad that Dan did it for me.
“We promise you that! Now, we should be leaving.”, His wolf took control of his again and quickly dashed out from there in excitement.
“Great! Seems like soon my both brothers will get busy with their mates and start a family soon.”, Nora chirped.
“I had guessed a little by observing them.”, Mom said with a small smile on her face.
“Why didn’t you share with me, Dan?” Aunt Emma asked, and in no time, Daniel left my side and rushed toward her.
“Aunt Emma, I…I thought I would end up hurting you indirectly and….”
“You think a lot, silly.”, She said, pulling his ear playfully. “Do you really think that I will be sad after hearing that you found your mate? Hell NO!”, Saying this, she released his ear.
“Now come on! Give me a hug.” Daniel happily hugged her. “Congratulation.”
“Thank you, Aunt Emma!”
I didn’t miss the sad look on Mom’s face. I knew she wanted to do the same with Daniel. She wanted to congratulate him too. That’s why I walked toward her and hugged her before she could react. I knew she was taken aback by my gesture but hugged me back.
“Congratulation, Eva! I’m so happy that you’re Dan’s mate.”
“Likewise, Mom.”

Everyone was happy with the news that Daniel actually married his mate instead of marrying someone for his family. After dinner, I went into my room, but even hours later, Daniel didn’t join me in the room. I wondered what was holding him downstairs. I was waiting for him because we had to resume our pending conversation.
Then I called Diana and gave her a brief about what happened here and told her in advance about Stephen so that she wouldn’t freak out when she would hear someone barging into her place unannounced at too in the middle of the night.
“See, I told you that I was born to serve a Lycan.”, She said happily.
“We will talk about that if you really come out to be Stephen’s mate. It might be a fall alarm, you know.”, I said so that she wouldn’t end up with heartbreak when she would realize that she was not going to find her hope this soon.
A part of her had stopped hoping formate because she was well aware that werewolves rarely stayed in the cities, so there were slight chances of her finding her mate in human. On the top, she couldn’t just visit from pack to pack in search of her mate because she was technically a rogue who didn’t belong to any pack.
“Hmm. Let’s see.”
“All right then, good night, baby,” I said before disconnecting the call.
“Eva…!!”, She quickly stopped me.
“Yes!”
“What kind of person Stephen is? I mean..”
“You’re asking the question to the wrong person, Baby. I got married to Daniel just three days ago. I can’t tell you the more about my own mate. Then how can I give any opinion on Stephen?” I chuckled.
“Still…”
“Your heart will automatically know. Just trust you with your instinct, just like I did. I know that my mate is an arrogant jerk, but at the same time, I can’t deny the fact that he is a nice guy from the heart.”, I confessed.
“Thank you. Now, good night sweetheart.”
After disconnecting the call, I frowned, checking the time; he was still not here! Maybe busy with Alpha duties. I thought but felt upset. Ivory’s condition was no more different than mine. She needed her mate by her side.
Immediately there was a slight knock on the door and a familiar face popped up the door. “May I come in?”
“You don’t need to take permission, Nora. Please come in.” I smiled, thinking that at least I would have someone who could help me in killing this boredom.
“Brother is not here?”, She asked, checking the room.
“Nope!” I shook my head. “Maybe he is busy with Alpha duties.”, I reasoned out, thinking he was away from the pack for two days.
“Or maybe busy in Aunt Emma’s room.”, She murmured in a bitter tone.
“Nora?” I asked in surprise because I hadn’t seen her using this tone for anyone before.
“I’m here to warn you, sister-in-law.”, She said in a serious tone, sitting beside me.
“Warn me? About what?”
“About Aunt Emma.”, She said, on which I furrowed my eyebrow. “She is not bad, sister in law but…but she has some possession on Brother. I don’t know what is wrong with her and what is wrong with her, but I think that she is the reason because of why Brother doesn’t talk to mom or Stephen or me?”
“You think? You are not sure about that, right?”
“Yeah! I’m not sure about that”, She agreed, nodding her head.
“Then you should be telling this about her without knowing the whole truth.”, I suggested. “Aunt Emma is like the second mother to your brother. He will definitely like this behavior of yours.”
“Maybe. But I don’t like how she easily gets a chance to spend with Brother while we can’t.”, She muttered sadly. “But I have seen a positive change in Brother after your arrival in his life.”, She added. “Today, Brother talked to Stephen because of you. I didn’t remember when did I see my brothers talking last time, but because of you and your friend, it happened, it happened for real. Now, I’m really hoping that you can also amend my brother’s relationship with me and our mom.”
“Aa.. umm!! I’m not sure about that, Nora.”, I said because I knew that every time I had raised the topic of his mom directly or indirectly, he used to be super-duper mad at me.
“Please! You are our only hope. Please.”, She requested, showing her puppy eyes.
“I will see what I can do.”, I said, not knowing what I would do.
“Thank you.”, She hugged me happily, and after pulling away from me, she said, “And yes, if you will wait for formate then most probably, you will end up staying here alone so better bring him from Aunt’s room. Maybe I’m overthinking, but I’m warning you again about Aunt’s intention. She has wrapped brother around her fingers, and losing the alpha of the pack from her hand will be something which she will never want.”, She said again. “Now, good night, sister-in-law! See you tomorrow.”
