CHAPTER 72

Despite having consumed a lot, Sabrina’s face still lingered in his mind. She had a strong sense of pride, so he knew how much she restrained herself from crying in front of him.
During the time they spent together, he had gotten to know her well, and he was certain she was still awake. He glanced at his watch and realized it was almost midnight. Kenneth contemplated as he stared at his cellphone, wanting to call Sabrina since earlier.
He wanted to seek advice from friends who had happy love lives but he hesitated. It was already late at night, so he was sure they were asleep. He had tried to convince himself several times that what he did was for the sake of both of them, but he didn’t want to hurt Sabrina. When he handed her Scarlet’s passbook earlier, she couldn’t hide the tremor in her voice from him.
Whenever he was with Sabrina, he never felt bored. There were times when she was mischievous, and there were times when she was overly serious. Despite the fluctuations in her mood, his love for Sabrina would never change. As he downed the last shot of brandy he had ordered a while ago, memories of the times he was truly happy while with her came flooding back.
There were times when he became annoyed because some of the tasks Sabrina asked him to do were becoming insulting. He admitted that everything Sabrina did was to drive him out of the house, but he wouldn’t allow it. He had never backed down from a fight.
Indeed!
He had endured the humiliation she subjected him to before, so why would he give up now? Perhaps it was time for him to do what he wanted with Sabrina. He wouldn’t listen to her parents’ advice anymore because it would only create more chaos.
He stood up, not caring that his walk was slightly unsteady. He entered the bathroom and washed his face. Afterward, he quickly brushed his teeth because he had somewhere to go.
They had been through so much together, he and Sabrina, so he couldn’t let it all go to waste. He realized just how much he loved her. During the time she was in the hospital, he promised to love her for a lifetime, so when she was discharged, he didn’t leave her side. He didn’t let her feel alone in life, especially when her family situation was a bit chaotic.
As he brushed his teeth and tongue to get rid of the smell of alcohol, he chuckled at the memory of their conversation in the gazebo near the pool. The woman agreed to marry him, but before that happened, they revisited the places where they first met to replace Sabrina’s bitter memories.
The night was getting deeper, so he put on a hoodie over his t-shirt before sneaking into Sabrina’s place. His eyes widened when he almost bumped into someone wearing a hoodie just like him.
“What are you doing here?” she asked, but instead of answering, the person suddenly covered her mouth.
Sabrina’s heart raced as fear and confusion washed over her. She struggled to break free from the person’s grip, her muffled voice pleading for an explanation. Her mind raced with thoughts of danger and uncertainty, unsure of the person’s intentions.
As panic threatened to consume her, the person slowly removed their hand from her mouth, revealing a mischievous grin that she instantly recognized. It was Kenneth, the love of her life!
“You scared me half to death, you know!” Sabrina exclaimed, her voice a mixture of frustration and laughter.
“I’m sorry, but I can’t sleep without seeing you, Sabrina. I miss you so much and it hurts to be this close to you, and yet, I couldn’t hug you or kiss you,” he stated.
Sabrina’s anger melted away, replaced by a rush of love and gratitude. She buried her face in Kenneth’s chest, taking in his comforting presence and the familiar scent that brought her a sense of security.
“Please forgive me, baby. Give me another chance to prove to your just how much I love you,” he announced.
“Why do you think I am outside right now?”
“I don’t know. Probably, you wanted to get some fresh air,” Kenneth replied.
“Idiot! I am on my way to see you! I heard from my father that he saw you at the resort,” she stated.
For a moment, Kenneth wanted to laugh because he didn’t expect that Brandon Hart would help him in winning his daughter’s heart again. He would be forever thankful to his father in law.
“So, you miss me too,” he stated.
“I do! Where have you been all this time, Kenneth? You made me wait for too long,” she complained.
Then, as Sabrina shared her feelings of longing and how much she had missed Kenneth during their time apart, a rush of emotion swelled within him. Unable to contain his own overwhelming love for her any longer, Kenneth gently cupped her face in his hands, his eyes filled with unwavering devotion.
“I’ve missed you more Sabrina,” he whispered, his voice laced with sincerity. “Every moment away from you felt like an eternity. But now, I promise to never let you go again.”
Without another word, their lips met in a passionate and tender kiss, sealing their love and commitment to one another. In that electrifying moment, time stood still as their connection deepened, intertwining their souls with an unbreakable bond.
As they embraced, their love overflowed, carrying them to a place of pure bliss and contentment. Sabrina could feel Kenneth’s love pouring into her, mending every broken piece and erasing the painful memories of the past.
With their hearts aligned and their love rekindled, Sabrina and Kenneth knew they were destined to be together. They held onto each other tightly, finding solace in the knowledge that their love was strong enough to conquer any obstacle they might face.
Holding hands while walking, she took his hand as she led him to the house. Then, the  entire house became bright, and both of them were shocked to see Brandon and Margaret waiting for them at the foyer.
“Don’t worry, I won’t let him hurt you,” she assured him.
“He wouldn’t dare,” Kenneth said knowingly because Brandon Hart would never hurt the man who meant the world to his daughter.
“Dad, Mom, I am glad that you are still both awake because Kenneth and I have an announcement to make,” Sabrina announced.
“Are you going to marry her properly this time?” Brandon asked Kenneth, much to Sabrina’s chagrin.
“I will,” Kenneth nodded.
“Good. Then, I will let you become part of this family on one condition, McBride,” Brandon said, causing Sabrina and Margaret nervous.
“What is it, sir?”
“Tell your mom and sister to come here to work as my maid. Three years, isn’t it, Sabrina?” Brandon asked his daughter.
“Dad!”
“Alright, just three months. Do we have an understanding on the matter, McBride?”
“Yes, sir. I will bring them tomorrow by hook or by crook,” Kenneth promised. “What about my grandfather?”
“I am still considering my options what to do with that old man. What do you think about merging his logistics company with Stardust?”
“I will tell him about it, sir.”
“Good. Then, tomorrow, bring him here along with your mother and sister. We can discuss the wedding first before letting them know about my condition,” Brandon proposed.
Kenneth just smiled.
“You really love her,” Brandon stated after a few seconds.
“I do, sir.”
“Then, you have my blessings. I wish both of you to be happy for the rest of your lives,” Brandon said emotionally.
“Thanks, Dad,” Sabrina said before hugging her parents.
“I wish you nothing but happiness, my angel,” Brandon said.
Sabrina couldn’t contain her happiness because finally, she was reunited with Kenneth again, and this time, they have her parents blessings.
After going through various challenges and overcoming them together, Sabrina and Kenneth decided to prioritize their relationship above all else. They made a mutual commitment to work on their issues, support each other’s dreams, and create a future filled with love and happiness.
With newfound clarity and understanding, Sabrina and Kenneth embarked on a new chapter of their lives. They celebrated their love by exchanging heartfelt vows in a beautiful wedding ceremony surrounded by their loved ones. The joy and love radiated from their faces as they sealed their commitment with a passionate kiss.
