Kenneth struggled to fight off sleep while playing with the little girl. He wanted to wake Sabrina up to complain, but he remembered that she hadn’t had a proper sleep in two years. However, he hoped that she had warned him about Scarlet being hyper every night.
When the child started feeling sleepy, Kenneth was overjoyed as if he had won millions in the lottery. He smiled widely as he put Scarlet beside her mother and immediately headed to the sofa bed that Sabrina had set up for him.
But then, Sabrina woke him up so early!
He cursed loudly when Sabrina tried to wake him up. Didn’t she know he had only fallen asleep at three in the morning? His head was throbbing, and he wanted to rest some more, but Sabrina wouldn’t leave him alone.
“What?” he angrily brushed off her hand.
Sabrina raised her eyebrow when Kenneth cursed at her. “What’s the matter? It’s already late, Kenneth, and I need to eat!” she said to him. Yes, she wasn’t breastfeeding Scarlet, but she was used to having breakfast early. When the man still didn’t get up, she kicked his knee.
“Do you really have to do that?” he angrily asked the woman, who didn’t even feel guilty about kicking him.
“I’m hungry,” Sabrina said.
“Well, then eat. There’s food downstairs, or just grab anything from the fridge,” Kenneth suggested.
“Don’t you still want to get up, Kenneth McBride?” Sabrina raised her voice as she asked him.
He was still sleepy, but there was nothing he could do about it. His eyes were sore as the wind blew, and he was severely lacking sleep. He had only rested for two hours, and he needed to talk to the woman because what she made him do was unfair.
It was quarter to six when everything was ready. While waiting for the woman to come downstairs, he prepared a grilled cheese sandwich and coffee. He started eating the sandwich when Sabrina arrived and handed him a piece of paper.
“Good morning, Sabrina,” he greeted the woman who looked like she had been through a lot. She seemed burdened!
Sabrina didn’t respond and simply pointed for him to read what was written on the paper. He waited until the man finished reading the list of his daily assignments.
“No swearing while eating, Kenneth,” she scolded him when he cursed loudly and threw the list back at her.
“This is slavery!” Kenneth complained.
“I told you yesterday that you could still back out,” she said.
“This is too much, Sabrina,” Kenneth complained.
“Just say if you don’t want to do it anymore,” she challenged him to back out because she was scared of the consequences of her decision.
What if her mother was right, and her love for him would return? Hmm, well, her feelings for Kenneth never really disappeared. It’s just that her anger prevailed because of what he did, abandoning her.
Kenneth’s eyes narrowed as he realized what Sabrina wanted. Did she want him to back out because she was afraid of him entering her heart again? He finished his sandwich and coffee before standing up.
“Where are you going? Do you want me to have the driver take you back to Azura?” he asked the man when he stood up.
“I’ll just get the laundry from our room,” Kenneth said. “It’s number one on the woman’s list, doing laundry every morning, and we can’t use the washing machine because she said it easily damages the clothes. Only bed sheets and towels can be washed in the washing machine.
His child was still asleep when he entered the room. He was careful not to make any noise to avoid waking the sleeping child and quickly took the basket filled with laundry.
As he was heading to the laundry area, he ran into Margaret. He immediately smiled and greeted her. “Good morning, Mommy.”
She simply shrugged and continued to ignore him. He understood her behavior because he broke Sabrina’s heart.
He wasn’t used to doing laundry, so after just an hour, his hands were already hurting. His hands became cut and stung whenever they got wet. Finally, when he finished, he let out a sigh of relief. But as he was hanging the clothes, his knees trembled from hunger.
He hurriedly walked to the kitchen, as if running, because he needed to eat. When he arrived in the kitchen, he was grateful to find it empty. After eating, he let out a loud sigh and rested for a few minutes before returning to the room to take a bath.
As he entered the room, he immediately noticed that Scarlet was no longer in her bed. He thought maybe Sabrina took her outside or she was playing with Meghan’s daughter. He took off the damp clothes from the laundry and threw them into a nearby laundry basket before heading to the bathroom.
“Oh, my God!” Kenneth exclaimed, quickly covering his exposed junior.
Sabrina screamed loudly when she saw the man outside the bathroom. She was surprised by what she saw, so she went back into the bathroom. However, after a few seconds, she realized that Kenneth couldn’t notice that she was still affected by his presence.
Kenneth saw that Sabrina looked enticing with just a towel on her body, and there were water droplets on her beautiful neck. He quickly entered the bathroom and turned on the cold shower to extinguish the burning desire for his ex-wife.
Kenneth thought his ordeal was over, but apparently not. He fell for another misconception. When he came out of the bathroom, he found Sabrina wearing only panties and a bra, with the towel she used earlier on her head. The woman was sitting on the edge of the bed, applying moisturizer to her body. She looked like a statue, frozen in place, and he couldn’t move.
“Sabrina…” Kenneth called the woman’s name.
“Oh, you’re done already. Hurry up because you still have things to do, right?” She then stood up and walked towards the closet, taking out a pair of white shorts and pairing it with a blue striped blouse.
