CHAPTER 38

Book:FALLING FOR A FAKE OMEGA Published:2024-6-3

Sabrina’s heart shattered into a million pieces as she witnessed Kenneth openly flaunting his mistress in front of her. The sight was like a knife piercing through her chest and it caused an indescribable pain. The betrayal she felt was overwhelming and she just wanted to die, but then, she should not give Isabelle the chance to have Kenneth the easy way.
Every interaction between Kenneth and his mistress was like a dagger to Sabrina’s wounded heart. Their laughter, their intimate gestures, and the stolen glances they exchanged tormented her soul. She couldn’t bear to witness their affectionate displays, a constant reminder that she had been replaced and forgotten.
Sabrina tried her best to conceal her agony, to put on a brave face and pretend that it didn’t affect her. But deep down, she was crumbling. The pain gnawed at her from within, threatening to consume her entirely. She questioned her worth, wondering what she lacked that Kenneth never bothered to look at her as a woman.
The days grew colder and darker as Sabrina’s heartache intensified. She longed for love and attention from Kenneth. Initially, she believed that she would be able to win his heart over time but then she had a competition, her sister-in-law who was favored by the family. There were times when she wondered what would they feel once they knew the truth that Isabelle has been sleeping with her husband’s brother.
With a heavy heart, Sabrina realized that she was now knowledgeable enough to seduce a man. How could she compete with Isabelle? She had wanted to let go of her feelings for Kenneth, but then, she couldn’t bear the humiliation of being a powerless wife. If her parents would learn what was happening inside the household she married, they would go berserk. Her father would probably stomp down on Kenneth’s grandfather without lifting a finger, and who knew what would her grandfather do?
The clock struck eleven in the evening, yet Sabrina remained wide awake. She slid open the window of her bedroom, welcoming the cold rush of wind. When she looked up, the sky was blanketed by dark clouds, concealing the stars. The air carried a chill, signaling an imminent rainstorm. Setting a countdown timer on her phone, Sabrina smiled as the first raindrop fell within five minutes.
As the rain poured heavily, the houses of Azura became obscured from Sabrina’s view. She used to admire the beautiful homes from afar on clear nights, but tonight that was not possible. However, she found solace in the fact that it was only rain, without thunder and lightning to add to her unease.
Deciding to lie on her bed, Sabrina left the windows open to embrace the soothing sounds of the raindrops dancing on the rooftop. Listening intently, she closed her eyes and gradually drifted into oblivion.
However, her peaceful slumber was abruptly interrupted by a gust of wind, as if signaling an approaching storm. Shivering, she rushed to close the window against the forceful wind. Returning to her bed, she covered herself with a thick quilt. As she settled in, a loud knock echoed from outside.
Slowly, Sabrina made her way toward the door, straining to listen. The knocking persisted, nearly deafening her. With a roll of her eyes, she turned the doorknob and opened it.
“Kenneth! What are you doing here?” she inquired but he didn’t respond. Instead, he let himself inside the room, much to her surprise!
“I will sleep here tonight,” he declared.
“W-What? You want to sleep here?” Sabrina stammered, taken aback by his unexpected request to share her bedroom.
“I’m still your husband, Sabrina. You don’t have to act so surprised. Besides, I am a gentleman,” he assured her, and then he gestured for her to join him in bed.
“Do you really think I would let you do it with me after doing it with Isabelle?”
“Hmm, maybe,” he teased, relishing in Sabrina’s fear of being taken.
“My God, you really are a pig, Kenneth! Get out!” she told him.
“Relax, and go back to sleep,” he ordered.
Sabrina took a deep breath, preparing herself for the inevitable. For days, she had anticipated him asserting his dominance, but it hadn’t happened. When Kenneth turned to face her, her eyes darted in different directions, a clear sign of her fear.
“K-Kenneth,” she called his name softly as he reached out to touch her face.
“Close your eyes, Sabrina, and go to sleep,” he instructed before turning his back to her.
Sabrina grumbled at his arrogance. How dare he make her believe that it would finally happen? But why did she feel insulted when he turned away? She should be relieved to have preserved her integrity.
“Do you find me disgusting and ugly?” she blurted out without a second thought, her frustration evident.
“Disgusting and ugly? No way! You are beautiful and sexy, Sabrina. Why do you think I tolerated you as my wife? Close your eyes and go to sleep,” he said it again.
Sabrina wanted to argue with him some more but then he was immediately snoring as if he hadn’t gotten a proper sleep for several nights. Perhaps, Isabelle didn’t let him sleep whenever they were together.
Actually, she was mortified to hear him snoring so abruptly! She glared at his broad shoulders, tempted to smack his head for pretending to sleep. Disappointed by his behavior, she closed her eyes and attempted to sleep. Within moments, she was once again lost in the realm of dreams.
When morning comes, she hastily got out of bed, and then she noticed that the other side was empty. She snorted as soon as she recalled the embarrassment she felt last night when Kenneth came to sleep with her, and yet, he didn’t do anything to her. They were just literally sleeping together!
Opening the window to welcome the fresh morning air, Sabrina removed her pajamas and, unaware of her own nakedness, strolled toward the bathroom for a quick shower. However, she let out a piercing scream when she found Kenneth inside and taking a shower. For a moment, she stood frozen at the doorway.
“Good morning, Sabrina. What a fine greeting in the morning, don’t you say?”
Sabrina became uncomfortable when he feasted on her nakedness and then he groaned as if he found her desirable to look at. When she looked at him, she found him grinning.
“Is there something funny?” she asked.
“You are acting like you are still a virgin, Sabrina. If you want to take a shower, come in. I am almost done. Then, hurry up in preparing food for breakfast,” he ordered.
“Okay.”
Once again, Kenneth humiliated her by reminding her about last night’s events. She waited until he came out of the bathroom before she went in, then she made sure to lock the door.
After the shower, she went to do her task. During breakfast, his family talked about Isabelle’s wish to have a baby within the year. As she listened to their conversation, she wondered who was going to be the baby’s father. Would it be Daniel or Isabelle?
“You must be excited to bear Daniel a child, Isabelle,” Sabrina joined in the conversation but it caused Kenneth to become uncomfortable in his seat. “What about you, Daniel? Are you also excited for the baby?”
“Of course! Isabelle and I should start working on it right away,” Daniel declared, and everyone laughed.
“Then, you should start sleeping with your wife every night, or else, someone else might sleep with her,” Sabrina dropped the bomb and it caused Isabelle’s eyes to widen. Suddenly, Kenneth grabbed her wrist and hold it tightly.
“Sabrina, what are you talking about right now? That Isabelle would cheat on Daniel?” Lorraine asked while staring at Isabelle.
“She is already cheating,” Sabrina replied.
