While she was cleaning the entire house, her mind was preoccupied with finding a way to get back at Kenneth. She couldn’t forgive him for being mean to her! He really thought that he could keep on mistreating her.
The only room she hadn’t cleaned yet was the man’s bedroom, so she felt a bit nervous as she knocked on its door. She knocked several times, but the man still didn’t open it. So Sabrina impulsively kicked the door and didn’t stop until she heard the sound of the latch turning from the inside. As expected, Kenneth’s face scowled as he opened the door for Sabrina.
“Did I disturb you?” she asked him, sounding a bit foolish.
Kenneth let out a sigh of exasperation at her and asked, “Why don’t you ask yourself, Sabrina? After kicking the door, you had to ask me that?” Then, he shook his head in disbelief or annoyance.
Sabrina just grinned despite hearing an earful from her husband. Kenneth looked so pissed that he looked like he was about to throttle her or spank her. Still, she didn’t mind.
“Please step out for a moment, my dear husband. I just need to clean your room, so it wouldn’t take a long time,” she told him, but Kenneth just ignored her.
“Forget it,” replied Kenneth. “Don’t bother anymore because my room is clean. You don’t have to do the cleaning here,” he said.
“I know I made a mistake earlier, so I want to make it up to you. Let me make up for what I did earlier,” she lied but then she noticed that Kenneth seemed to consider her words.
“Ten minutes, Sabrina. You have ten minutes to clean and then you have to leave,” he said.
“Of course,” she promised that she would only take a short time to clean since she still needed to do something else. The color combination made the room darker, so she replaced them with white. Then, she adjusted the drapes and opened to the window to let the cool breeze inside.
She knew that Kenneth would be so busy to notice that his window was open. She heard from the news that there would a full moon tonight. He wanted Kenneth to see the same moon because she would be watching it tonight as well.
“I’m done,” she said to the man who patiently waited outside until she finished cleaning.
“Prepare the table when my ordered food arrives,” Kenneth ordered Sabrina because he didn’t trust her cooking.
“Okay. By the way, I’m sorry about earlier. I don’t know what has gotten into me but I won’t do it again, Kenneth.”
“As you should. Do you even have an idea what will happen to you once my mother is aware? You will be punished!”
“As if you will report the incident to her, Kenneth. You are not that dumb,” she said.
“Excuse me?”
“Pardon my language. I said she will know if you will tell her. So, are you going to tell her about the soup?”
“I don’t know, but you should be mindful next time, Sabrina. What’s wrong with you?”
“What’s wrong with me? Kenneth, in case you have forgotten, I was just dragged into this wedding so the least you can do to me is to be nice. How can you join your family in mistreating me? Did I do anything wrong to deserve all your treatment?”
“Enough, Sabrina. Just leave now, okay?”
“Can’t you be nice to someone who is dying, Kenneth?”
“Who is dying?”
“I am dying. With all the maltreatment I experienced from your family, do you think I wouldn’t die?”
She knew she was talking nonsense but Kenneth was listening. Even if he was not happy to listen to her outburst, he was still listening.
“After the wedding, we didn’t even get the chance to dine together. You always eat alone, and I eat with the staff. I am your wife, and yet, I have to eat with the staff or alone as well.”
“Will you please stop using the word ‘wife’, Sabrina? I am tired of hearing it from you!”
“I will be cooking dinner tonight. I hope you can join me for dinner and not go to the main house to join them for dinner,” she informed him but she was so anxious while waiting for his response.
“Fine,” Kenneth agreed.
“See you again later,” she said before leaving him alone in his room.
Then, she went on with the chores of maintaining the residence. They were living in the West Wing of the mansion, it was quite far from the main house, however, the people who lived in the main house continued to treat her like trash.
Then, she and Kenneth met again for dinner. A plate of roasted meat, steamed fish, and vegetables was served on the table when he arrived. Honestly, she was already starving but Kenneth came in too late.
It had been a long day since one of the staff in the main house became ill and she had to do the cleaning there as well. After cleaning, she also had to do the laundry. She wasn’t used to doing household chores but Kenneth’s family forced her to learn them one by one. It was a tiring job!
“Are you okay?” Kenneth asked the woman because he had noticed she seemed absent-minded.
“I’m hungry,” she answered while filling her plate. “You should eat too,” she suggested to the man who just stared at her. Then, she started eating without serving him. She was really tired and hungry at the same time.
“You are eating like you have been starving for a month, Sabrina,” he quipped.
She glared at him for being insensitive and responded, “You have a great family Kenneth but you never learned some good manners.”
“Do you have a problem with me? I’ve noticed that you’ve had a hot temper towards me!” Kenneth complained as he poured hot tea into his cup.
She had intended to lie, but there was no reason for her to do so. “What do you think, Kenneth? Do you think I am happy in my current situation? I am not happy but I couldn’t even get away from this horrible family of yours! I couldn’t even go to the gate without being dragged back to the mansion. Do you know that?” she told him but when she glanced at him, Kenneth wasn’t listening and was so focused on drinking the tea she had prepared for him.
“I like this one, what is it?” he asked.
“Lemongrass. I saw some lemongrass in the garden so I used them for the tea. You really like it?” she asked because it was her first time doing it.
“Yes, it feels so refreshing, Sabrina.”
“Good. Then, have some more,” she said as she poured another cup for him. When Kenneth lifted the second cup toward his mouth, Sabrina smirked evilly.
