CHAPTER 12

As Monday morning rolled around, Sabrina was up bright and early, eager to start her day at the university. She had heard rumors that a new chairman had been appointed and that he was young and handsome. Sabrina couldn’t resist the allure of a good-looking man, and she was eager to see if the rumors were true.
When Sabrina arrived at the university, she made her way to the chairman’s office, hoping to catch a glimpse of him. As she approached the door, she could hear the sound of voices coming from inside.
Taking a deep breath, Sabrina pushed open the door and stepped inside.
And there he was – the new chairman, sitting behind his desk with a serious expression on his face. Sabrina couldn’t help but feel a flutter of excitement at the sight of him. He was definitely young, and there was no denying that he was handsome, with sharp features and piercing blue eyes.
Sabrina cleared her throat, trying to compose herself. “Excuse me,” she said, her voice sounding a little too breathless. “I was just wondering if I could speak with you for a moment, Mr. Chairman.”
The chairman looked up, his eyes meeting hers. Sabrina could feel her heart racing as he studied her for a moment.
“Of course,” he said, his voice low and smooth. “What can I do for you?”
Sabrina felt a rush of nervous energy as she tried to think of what to say. She knew that she had come in here under the pretense of asking a question, but in reality, all she wanted was to get a closer look at this handsome stranger.
“I was just wondering,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper, “if you needed any help around here. I’m a student here, and I would be happy to lend a hand if you need it.”
The chairman smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. “Thank you for the offer,” he said. “I’ll keep it in mind.”
“Thank you, sir,” she said. Actually, she wanted to stay a little bit longer but then the telephone rang so she had no choice but to leave. She was at the doorway when she heard him calling her.
Wait, are you saying that you are a self-supporting student?”
As Sabrina made her way out of the chairman’s office, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement at the thought of this handsome stranger. She knew that she had lied to him about wanting to help out, but she didn’t care – she just wanted to find a way to get closer to him. But then the chairman called out to her.
“Wait a minute,” he said. “Are you a self-supporting student?” he asked again.
Sabrina hesitated, not sure what to say. She had never really thought of herself as self-supporting, but she didn’t want to admit that to this handsome stranger. For a moment, she was confused about whether to tell him the truth or lie about it.
“Um, yes,” she said, her voice faltering. “I come from an omega family, so I don’t have a lot of resources. My friend’s family is sponsoring my education, but I wanted to earn a little for myself, sir.”
The chairman looked at her sympathetically. “I understand,” he said. “Well, in that case, we might have some opportunities for you to earn some extra money around here.”
Sabrina felt a sense of relief wash over her. She had managed to get out of a potentially awkward situation, and now she had the chance to get closer to the handsome chairman.
“Thank you,” she said, her voice sounding a little too eager. “I really appreciate it.”
As she walked away, Sabrina couldn’t help but feel a twinge of guilt. She had lied to the chairman, and she knew that it was wrong. But she also knew that she was willing to do whatever it took to get closer to this handsome stranger, even if it meant stretching the truth a little.
Sabrina couldn’t wait to share her news with her best friend, Heather. As soon as she saw her, she ran over to her, practically bouncing with excitement.
“Heather, guess what?” she said, her voice high-pitched with excitement. “I just talked to the new chairman, and he said that he might have some opportunities for me to earn some extra money around here!”
Heather looked at her in surprise. “Really?” she said. “That’s great news!”
But then Sabrina’s smile faltered a little. “But there’s something else,” she said, her voice lowering. “He asked if I was a self-supporting student, and I lied and told him that I came from an omega family.”
Heather’s eyes widened in shock. “What?” she said. “Why would you do that?”
Sabrina shrugged, feeling a little guilty. “I don’t know,” she said. “I just wanted to get closer to him, I guess. And I knew that he would be more sympathetic if he thought that I was from a less fortunate background.”
Heather shook her head, looking a little disappointed. “That’s not right, Sabrina,” she said. “You shouldn’t lie about something like that. It’s not fair to people who actually come from less fortunate backgrounds who might need the job. Besides, what would you say to your parents?”
Sabrina felt a pang of guilt at Heather’s words. She knew that she had been wrong to lie, but she couldn’t help but feel a little defensive. “I know,” she said. “But I just really want to get to know him better. And if lying about my background is what it takes, then so be it. Can you even imagine how handsome he is? I think I am already in love with him, Heather!”
Heather looked at her for a moment, then sighed. “Well, just be careful,” she said. “You don’t want to get in too deep and end up regretting it later. So, how are you going to break the news to your parents?”
“Hmmm, I think I will just tell them the truth, and to let me do it. You know how they are, Heather. They wouldn’t dare to disappoint me,” she claimed.
“Well, you are right, but you just met him! For goodness sake, are you out of your mind?”
“Yes! I became crazy as soon as I saw him. Kenneth McBride is just my ideal type!”
