CHAPTER 11

As Sabrina’s eighteenth birthday approached, her mother Margaret was busy planning a special celebration to mark the occasion. Margaret had always been a doting and loving mother, and she wanted to make sure that Sabrina’s birthday was a day that she would never forget.
She had arranged for a lavish party at their family estate, with all of Sabrina’s friends and family in attendance. The estate had been decorated with beautiful flowers and twinkling lights, creating a magical and enchanting atmosphere.
Margaret had also arranged for a special surprise for Sabrina – a performance by her favorite singer, who had flown in from out of town to perform at the party.
As the guests arrived and the party got underway, Margaret looked out over the crowd, her heart filled with love and pride for her daughter. Sabrina had grown into a strong, intelligent, and beautiful young woman, and Margaret was honored to be her mother.
Margaret pulled her daughter aside to have a private conversation. “Happy birthday, my darling,” Margaret said, giving Sabrina a tight hug. “I can hardly believe that my little girl is all grown up now.”
Sabrina smiled, her eyes shining with excitement. “Thank you, Mom,” she replied. “I’m so grateful to have you in my life.”
Margaret smiled back, her expression filled with pride. “You’ve grown into such a strong and beautiful young woman, Sabrina,” she said. “I couldn’t be more proud of you.”
Sabrina’s smile widened. “Thanks, Mom,” she said. “I’m so excited for tonight. It’s going to be amazing.”
Margaret nodded, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “I’ve arranged for a special surprise for you, my love,” she said. “Your favorite singer is going to perform tonight.”
Sabrina’s eyes widened in surprise. “Really?” she exclaimed. “That’s amazing! How did you manage to do that?”
Margaret chuckled. “Let’s just say that I have my ways,” she said, with a sly grin.
As the program proper began, Sabrina’s eyes shone with excitement, and Margaret looked on with love and pride, knowing that this was a special day that her daughter would remember for the rest of her life.
As the evening wore on, the party continued into the night, with music, dancing, and laughter filling the air. Sabrina was surrounded by her loved ones, all of whom were there to celebrate her and the incredible young woman she had become.
As the night drew to a close, Margaret pulled Sabrina aside once again, her eyes filled with tears. “I’m so proud of you, my darling,” she said, her voice shaking with emotion. “You’ve grown into an amazing young woman, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you.”
Sabrina smiled, her eyes shining with love for her mother. “I am not sure if you are really happy tonight, Mom,” she said. “You look sad,” Sabrina noticed.
As they hugged each other tightly, Margaret knew that she had done everything she could to make Sabrina’s eighteenth birthday a day that she would never forget. And as they looked out over the partygoers, the love and joy in the air were a testament to the incredible bond that they shared as mother and daughter.
“You just turned eighteen and still your wolf hasn’t awakened yet,” Margaret said.
“Daddy said it will be fine. I can just be a plain businesswoman if I turned out to be wolfless,” Sabrina replied.
“Oh, really? Did he say that? What about your marriage?”
“Hmmm, he says I can take my time, Mom. Do you know that he told me to be on a trip with my friends? He will shoulder everything!”
“Not this year, sweetheart,” Margaret refused to let Sabrina travel by herself. “It’s too dangerous to do that,” she reminded her daughter.
“Grandfather said I don’t have to worry about anything,” Sabrina mumbled.
“He said that? Where is your grandfather? I think I really have to talk to your father and grandfather, Sabrina,” Margaret said because those men have spoiled her daughter a lot.
“Go ahead, Mom. I saw Grandfather in the billiard home earlier,” Sabrina said.
As soon as her mother left, Sabrina decided to be in the garden for a few minutes. She needed some space even for a few minutes. As Sabrina walked through the garden, trying to clear her head, she noticed a couple in the distance.
The man was tall and handsome, with dark hair and piercing blue eyes. He had his arms wrapped around a woman, who Sabrina recognized as one of their maids. Sabrina felt a twinge of discomfort at the sight of the two of them being so cozy.
She knew that her family had strict rules about relationships between employees and members of the household, and she wondered if they were aware of what was going on. As she got closer, the couple noticed her, and the man quickly pulled away from the maid. Sabrina could see a hint of guilt in his eyes, and she wondered if he had been aware of the rules.
“Excuse me,” Sabrina said, her voice cool. “Can I help you with something?”
The man straightened up, his expression apologetic. “I’m sorry, Miss Hart,” he said. “We were just… talking.”
Sabrina nodded, her eyes fixed on the couple. “I understand that,” she said. “But I hope you’re aware of the rules regarding relationships between employees and members of the household.”
The man nodded, looking slightly embarrassed. “Yes, Miss Hart,” he said. “I apologize for any trouble I may have caused.”
Sabrina nodded, her eyes still fixed on the couple. She couldn’t help but feel a twinge of discomfort at the thought of one of their maids being involved with a member of their household. But she also knew that it wasn’t her place to get involved in their personal lives.
As she turned to leave, Sabrina couldn’t help but wonder what other secrets were hiding in the shadows of their family’s estate. She was about to return to the ballroom where the party was held but then, she saw Luke Blackwood standing nearby, talking on his phone.
Luke Blackwood was the president of the school organization, and Sabrina had never liked him much. She had always found him to be arrogant and condescending but everyone from Skyline University was invited. As she approached him, Luke noticed her and gave her a cold look.
“What do you want?” he asked, his tone clipped.
Sabrina felt a pang of anger at his attitude. She had never done anything to warrant his disdain, and she didn’t appreciate being treated like an annoyance.
“I just wanted to say hello,” she said, trying to keep her tone civil. “It’s been a while since we’ve spoken.”
Luke rolled his eyes. “I’m busy, Sabrina,” he said, his attention back on his phone. “I don’t have time for idle chitchat.”
Sabrina felt a surge of frustration at his dismissive attitude. She had always known that Luke was a difficult person to deal with, but she hadn’t expected him to be so openly hostile.
“Well, I’ll let you get back to your important business then,” she said, her tone frosty. “I hope you enjoy the party.”
As she walked away, Sabrina couldn’t help but feel a sense of disappointment. She had hoped that they could at least have a civil conversation, but it seemed that Luke was still determined to treat her with contempt.
“Sabrina, where have you been?”
Sabrina’s eyes widened in glee upon seeing Heather, her best friend. She thought the woman wouldn’t be able to attend her party because of some important matters. “I thought you can’t come!”
“I’m not going to miss this party for anything. So what happened? Why do you look so sad?”
“I happened to see Luke Blackwood in the garden,” she said while rolling her eyes. “I envy the maid who got a nice treatment from a man.”
“Most men are really insecure with your status, Sabrina. After all, you are the only daughter of Brandon Hart and Margaret King. I didn’t even mention your grandfather,” Heather explained.
“Well, that explains it but it’s not my fault to be born this way. I didn’t choose my parents,” Sabrina explained.
“I know. Anyway, you shouldn’t be stressed over that matter. Let’s go. Oh, by the way, I heard that Skyline will have a new chairman and he was pleasant in the eye,” Heather informed Sabrina.
“Then, we should be early on Monday,” Sabrina said and then they both laughed.
