“It’s definitely not Dahlia if the shock expression she had, when Mike said it wasn’t he the one that caused the accident, was any indication. Then the only one’s close to us that’s left is mom’s family. And hearing that she’s adopted kind of confirmed it. No one can hurt you more than the people you had chosen to love and was not obliged to because of blood relations.” I continued.
“And that leaves us with your uncle Nathaniel and Aunt Carol?” She asks.
“Yes. And after all the help and clues uncle Nath gave, especially the letters, I definitely don’t think its him. The letter began everything. If he was the one, he easily could have burnt it, so my investigation would not have even begin. Plus, all the help when I was in the hospital, even though he hates hospitals-”
“He hates hospital?” Amanda asked.
“Yeah. I asked about it when he refused to treat the gunshot wound, said it was related to the incident in his childhood. I didn’t pry further seeing how uncomfortable he was being.” I said.
“So that’s it. Just with that you think he’s not. You know-”
“I know.” Interrupted. “I know with just feelings you should never decide. But it’s not just that. Carol not only snatched my mom’s company. Jesus! Saying it like that makes it seem childish.” I chuckled but quickly stopped seeing Amanda’s glare.
She seriously could kill someone with her expression. Okay moving on…
“I asked grandpa and he said Carol hasn’t called them for about 2 months. And-”
“Wait. 2 months? Are you sure that the accurate time period?” Amanda interrupted hurriedly.
“Yeah? He said more than 2 months.” I replied.
“Oh!” She exclaimed.
“Why?”
“It’s been more than 2 months since my company started receiving threats and declining. And the stocks are being taken by BlackJack.” She replied.
“Wait! Your company’s in trouble and you are telling me now?” I yelled.
“You already had lot on your plate and I didn’t want to add to it.” She shouted back.
Okay… before we wake my family up we need to tone it down.
“So I dragged you into my problems and you couldn’t share yours?” I asked calmly. Guilt tripping her doesn’t sit right with me. But knowing she hesitates to share her problems with me hurts me.
“Sorry. I just felt you should have less problems on your plate.” She said guiltily. I hugged her.
“You got angry and retorted back to Mike as well as the officers. You dealt with my problems showing me my problems are yours as well. I am sorry for dragging you here and not even once asking about you or your company. But you should know your problems are mine as well.”
“Well I don’t blame you for not asking. I mean half this trip was spent with you sleeping.” She joked making me laugh. “But I am sorry as well.” She said.
“So you were saying your company stocks are being taken by BlackJack?” I asked to which she nodded. “So this clue proves that Carol is behind BlackJack.” I said.
“What clue?” She asked.
“I had checked Carol’s bank details. She has been getting huge amount transferred to hers within the past 2 months.” I said which had Amanda with widened eyes.

*Amanda’s POV
“Yes dad! She says it’s Carol.” I said.
“And not Nathaniel?” Asked Dad.
“No. All the clues points to her.” I replied to which he hummed.
After Kat and I found all the clues needed to search for evidences, I made Kat sleep off her tiredness from the drug lest she continues searching without realising she’s tiring herself out.
Once I made sure she’s slept I came out into the kitchen to tell Dad about everything we found.
“Don’t you think she should know the truth Dad?” I asked.
“Yes she should know-”
“I-”
“Not you. But he will.” He said sternly stopping me from saying anything about it.
“Okay da- mmmm-” I screamed as much as I could as I felt a cloth cover my mouth.
“Amanda…” dad shouted as I felt my consciousness slipping.
“AMANDA!!”

*Unknown POV
“Hello?” A deep voice asked.
“They kidnapped my daughter.” The person on the other end said.
“What? So soon?” He asked surprised.
“Don’t worry. Tell Kat about this. I will go to them along with her.” He said before hanging up.
“Desperate, are we?”
