He was working on his computer knowing very well in his 180 degree view, he could see me.
“Mr. Scott as my task is done here I am preparing to leave.” I said with as much strength as I could muster. He looked up from his computer and nodded with no expression whatsoever.
“Good.” He said before he turned his attention back to the computer.
That’s it? No goodbye or anything? I prepared for harsh words from him but didn’t predict him saying nothing at all. It hurts. But I don’t know what might have hurt more, him saying nothing or him saying something harsh.
I turned away from him preparing to shut the door harshly and leave the place as soon as possible.
“Wait.” He called. I turned around, not expecting or preparing myself for anything this time.
Bad decision.
“Take this before you leave.” He said one hand pointing towards the rectangular paper on his table while the other typing on his computer.
I walked towards the table to see what it was that he was offering.
Blank Check. He gave me a freaking blank check. Though this time not wanting to put myself down I assumed it was for Mr. Simon, my boss.
“I will deliver it to Mr. Simon.” I said, which caught his attention.
“It is for you. Mr. Simon has already got his part of the deal.” He said while searching my face for my reaction, with his no expression face. I gave him the answer of no expression face as well. He shook his head slightly before turning back to the computer.
“Mr. Scott as much as I appreciate this, I can’t accept it since it is not part of the deal and I can’t accept anything from my client. My boss does pay us well, and I am sure I will be getting what I deserve for the work I did.” I pointed out.
“I know Mr. Simon will be giving you your pay based on you work. But this is for what you have done for me out of work. I don’t want to owe my enemy anything.” He stated while still working on his damn computer.
“If so it would be me who would be owing you if I took the money, if what you said about me benefitting from my dad’s help for you, were true.” I stated back. He snickered. He looked up and finally moved away from the computer as he gave me all his attention.
“Your benefits from it evened out your dad’s help. Now I don’t owe the old man anything at all.” I clenched my teeth together at hearing him talk about my dad. If I let me talk it would be this conversation to an ugly argument.
“This check is for your help.” He said while getting up from his chair and walking towards his table making me walk back away from him. He leaned on his table as he took the check from it and extended it towards me.
“And what would come under those help, Mr. Scott?” I asked genuinely not understanding what help he was mentioning again and again.
“Taking care of me when I was sick, and cooking for me, would include some of it.” He stated as he waved the check around.
I snatched it from his hand and looked at in disgust. “Would the some include sex?” I asked.
“If you say so. I have signed it and it has no limit, so you can take whatever you please to.” He said while he went back to sit on his chair. He made himself comfortable by placing his elbows on the table and his head on his hands.
I wanted to tear the check in front of his eyes and throw it on his face. But it would just satisfy him to see me angered from his insult. Now it is much better not to give him that satisfaction than to hear him insult me. Having what to do with the check in mind I nodded at him and was satisfied to see the disappointment in his eyes for a second before that changed to annoyance of my presence. I turned to walk towards the door. I turned the knob around but turned back at him before opening the door.
