*Kat’s Pov
“I was talking about how my dad had helped you during your grieving period and how he was also the reason behind you building your company to this level.” I stated.
“It’s good that you have mentioned it now.” He made himself more comfortable by crossing his leg over the other and his arm around. For some unknown reason the way he sat made me feel things that I’m not supposed to feel right now.
Even if he’s supposed to be my enemy I can’t deny the fact that he is devilishly handsome. Plus the history makes it even more harder to deny my attraction towards him.
“Now that I think about it, the way your father have helped me feels suspicious to me now. He must have done it as a way to repent or to cover up his bad deeds. Either way I don’t think it was for my benefit but more for his.” He said smirking at his own findings.
I scoffed. “It’s evil of you to think about a person in a bad way after everything he has done for you. Worse after you have reaped the benefits from his help.”
“It won’t be worse as his daughter too has had gained from the said benefits.” He smirked cruelly, making me shiver internally.
It’s amazing to see how much he has changed over night. Gone, the old sweet Ryder, who is now replaced by the cold-hearted would do anything for revenge Ryder.
“And what would I gain from my dad helping you to cover the news of you murdering Keith Garderner, Raven’s stepdad?” (chapter 27) I asked noticing how he had stiffened from me mentioning about the incident.
“How did you know it was your dad?” he asked.
“I searched around when I noticed you were hiding somethings from me, the day you mentioned about this.” It equally excited me and made me uncomfortable seeing him squirm, the more I questioned about it. Made me almost stop the conversation but remembered how he had basically started with insulting dad.
“The way you said about your PR team helping you but you immediately firing them just didn’t add up as well.” I continued watching him trying to gain back control of the situation.
“I won’t waste our time by denying that, your findings are indeed true. Congrats Sherlock. But it was because of the same incident making me a ruthless billionaire and pretty famous that made you come to me like all the other girls.” He said smirking. Yet I could see something undetectable in his eyes covered by his smirk.
This jerk son of a good mother.
“What do you want?” I asked wanting him out of my sight as soon as possible. It’s harder to change the mind of a person who is dead set on what he think is right, even if it sounds absolutely bizarre. It’s better to stay silent and listen to what he’s got to say than to let him break me further by arguing and spending my energy on arguments that have the same end result. The end of us.
“You to be out of my sight as soon as possible. Unless if you don’t want Mr. Simon to be the one affected by this.” He said it slowly and sternly to make the message clear that he doesn’t want me anymore in his life. As if that message hasn’t already been stamped in my weeping heart.
I wanted to say more to the threat he just made but it would mean another long conversation with him leading to me shedding the tears that I am trying hard not to. Letting out a deep breathe I looked up at him to notice the disappointment in his face for my decision of not wanting the unwanted argument.
“The message is clear, Mr. Scott.” I said back sternly as well, looking at his eyes. I clenched my teeth together while staring at his beautiful blue eyes that I am still in love with no matter what happened. It took everything in me to not burst into tears in front of him under his glare from those same eyes that used to look at me lovingly.
Seeing that I am not going to show my weakness to him, he nodded and stood up and left without turning back even once.
I heard a bang from his office which told me he is now in his office too. I turned my head towards the wall separating our offices to see he has still the shield on. I sighed and turned back to continue with my work not wanting to show how much this is affecting me, knowing very well that he could see me as the shield has one way view from his office to mine.
