Recap( I will continue from chap 30, to know what happened bfr check 26 and 30, After reaching the police station they understand someone powerful is blocking their paths to finding the murderer. After taking the laptop home Katherine decides to test Amanda. But Amanda fails the test by sneaking into Ryder’s study room and trying to open the laptop. When asked the reason behind her betrayal she says the laptop was the reason for Katherine’s parents death. Now continue )
*Kat’s POV
“So dad’s laptop is the reason for their death?” I asked.
“More like what’s inside the laptop is the reason for their death. Knowing it, brings not only you but all three of us in danger.” Mandy said.
“So what you are saying is that I shouldn’t know what is inside it for my safety meaning my dad is bringing me to the brink of my death too? I don’t think my dad would do anything which will bring me harm. Are you trying to remove all the blames from you and put it on my dad?” I asked angrily.
Mandy sighed and shook her head, “I know whatever I say, wont make you believe me.”
“You think.” I scoffed angrily.
“And the truth is I don’t know why uncle is set on wanting to let you know about whats on inside. He said to tell you whats on inside but dad was like he is insan-”
“But u didnt say anything about dad wanting to let me know what’s in the laptop. Why did you hide that from me?”
“Because both dad and I thought it might be best to not let you know.”
“That is not your decision to make.”
“But your parents died-”
“All the more reason for me to know what led to their deaths. Don’t you think?” I turned around and asked Ryder.
That was then that I noticed Ryder moved from behind me and is now sitting behind the laptop. Well, there’s his answer. I smirked at Mandy showing her that I have at least one person on my side.
“Well it will take days to crack this code. Thankgod the laptop only suffered minute damages. I was able to on it after some repairing.” He said looking up at us with a goofy smile.
“You guys are making a terrible mistake.” Mandy said sighing.
“Mistakes are meant to be made don’t you think?” He replied.
I nodded.
I went to his side and sat on the armrest. He pulled me to his lap.
“Make yourself comfortable in your home.” He said nuzzling in the crook of my neck.
“You guys make me sick.” Mandy replied.
“You are always welcome to leave. You know the way to sneak into my study so I don’t have to show you the way out.” Ryder said without moving from his position.
I slapped his hand. “Mandy you can stay as much as you want. Though you did hide and sneak into the study, I can understand why you did that. Thankyou for taking care of me but I am big enough to take care of myself.”
“I will be leaving at early morning.” She said leaving.
“Mandy this doesn’t change anything.” I said before she turned the knob.
I swear I hear “I know” from her before she closed the door. Whatever that may be.
I stood up and slapped his head.
“Great idea of making the person you hate the most way awkward that they may want to leave.” I scolded.
“Hey in my defence she sneaked into my study room where there are many important documents.”
I raised my eyebrow. “House bills can be important documents too.” I shook my head.
I took the laptop and went to sit on the couch in his study. Soon he joined me as well. And we two were set to crack this open.

2 hours later.
“OMG Kat you did it.”
I couldn’t believe my eyes.
“You did something that I don’t think the third top hackers could do it.”
I opened up the computer. But the happiness didn’t last long. The computer shut itself off. I gasped. I tried all ways to turn on but it dint work.
Fortunately something happened.
The screen turned blue with coordinates.
39°54’N 78°W
But before we could write it down it read:
KAT HOW MANY TIMES MUST I TELL YOU TO PUT YOUR LAPTOP OFF YOUR LAP. THOUGH IT SAYS ‘LAP’TOP DONOT PUT IT ON YOUR LAP. NOW PUT IT ON TABLE WHERE THINGS WONT CATCH FIRE.
And before I could respond the screen said “self destruct in 20 seconds”
Ry took the lap and threw it on the floor away from the carpet quickly and ran to take the extinguisher. Before he could return the fire started. Still I dint stand up from the couch. I was shocked that I couldn’t move. No wonder dad always scolded me for keeping the laptop on my lap. It was for this moment. He knew it.
Ry came running and extinguished the fire. But the fire destroyed the laptop completely.
“He did plan this for a really long time.” Ry said.
“That he did. Too bad we couldn’t note the coordinates down it must be leading to the original laptop.”
“I did.”
“What, this fast?” I asked surprised.
“It wasn’t something that I could forget.”
“What do you mean.”
“It is near the area where my parents had accident.”
“What???” I asked shocked or confused couldn’t decide which from all the incidents that occurred in a minute.
“This all must be connected.” I said.
“Maybe” he said with an emotionless face.
A/n : Two things:
1. this is just a fictional story it has nothing to do with reality. I don’t know about any computers that switches off and turns on just to show the coordinates. This is all just my imagination including the coordinate if you must have noticed. For all I know, these coordinates must be leading to some cave.
2. I know its been long since my last update its because I have to focus on my studies so I won’t be able to write but I will try to find time to complete this story I wont be leaving it incomplete. Thanks for your support.
