Nickolas drags my body on the floor using my hair. By the time he releases it, I am surprised I still have hair on my head.
“Do it fast, Ava. The werewolf king’s army is stronger than we anticipated,” Nickolas says to a woman who stands across the room.
“You don’t have to tell me twice. Tie her to the ground,” The woman, who I am guessing is Ava, says.
Nickolas drags my body to the center of the room. He uses a rope to tie my body down to the ground. He pins nails down to help the rope to hold me down. My legs and hands are spread wide open. Ava places candles all around me. She releases a ball of fire that spreads across the room and lights up all the candles. She begins to chant words the same way Ekaterina does every time she casts a spell. Ava is a fire witch, but her hair does not glow as she casts spells. I watch as her tongue moves fast as she speaks in a foreign language. The fire in the candles around me suddenly grows high and meets each other at the top. She placed the candles around me at a specific position, so they formed a star above me. Her eyes become black the more she chants words.
“Open it now,” She says to Nickolas. The moment the ground under me starts to move. The fire in the candles leave the candles and hang in the air. They join together and form a big ball of fire.
I screamed louder than I even did when Nickolas killed mason once the fire hits my body. The fire enters my body and burns from within. I scream and shake my body against the floor.
“It hurts,” I manage to say with all the pain I am going through right now. I don’t even get to fully take in the pain from the fire before more comes. My whole body begins to tear open once the fire settles well into my body. I scream more as my arms, stomach, legs tears open. It’s like I am being skinned alive.
“Soon, you will be with me, my love,” Ava says to something behind me. I can’t move my head right now, but I know under me is open. They must be giving Nickolas’s brother my blood but did they have to do it this way. There are other ways than making me go through so much pain. It’s bad enough I have to die for nothing, and now I am dying in the most painful way possible.
Nickolas is about to speak but gets cut off once the glass behind him breaks into pieces.
“Did you really think you could run away from me, Nickolas” Theo growls at him as he walks into the room through the window.
“I was not running away, you dog. I had more important things to attend to,” Nickolas says, looking at me. Theo’s eyes follow where he is looking at. His eyes almost fall out of their sockets the moment they land on me.
“What have you done to her” Theo growls. He runs towards Nickolas, but before he can grab him, Nickolas moves away. I can’t believe Theo still cares about me. I thought he wouldn’t care that they were hurting me. I can’t believe he still does.
“What she was born to do,” Nickolas says, smirking, dusting off invisible dust off his body.
“I am going to kill you?” Theo says and shifts into his wolf. I want to shout at Theo to shift back to human form because Ava is here and practices black magic. I can barely open my mouth talk more of screaming at him to shift back. I am about to try mind linking him but don’t need to because someone helps me warn him.
“Theo shift back; Ava will enter your mind,” Ekaterina shouts from the door. Theo quickly shifts back to human form and puts on a pair of shorts. The man who came in with Ekaterina hands him. “Oh, heavens, what have they done to you, Ana,” She says, running to my side, but before she can touch me, a bolt of lightning hits her.
“Did you really think I would let you ruin my plan, Ekaterina?” Ava says, coming out of her hiding place. Once Theo arrived, she hid. I am sure it was, so he won’t know she is here, and he will shift into his wolf form so it will be easier for her to kill him.
“I just wanted to check to be sure you were still smart,” Ekaterina says, lifting herself off the ground with the help of the werewolf that came with her.
“You are lucky to have lived this long. Once my sister arrives, she won’t waste time and end your life on the spot,” Ava says
“Not, if I am alive” The werewolf growls and takes a protective stance in front of Ekaterina. I know I am dying, but I never thought I could see another werewolf protect Ekaterina except for Theo.
“It’s fine, Kyler, I can protect myself,” Ekaterina says, stepping in front of the werewolf.
“You are mine to protect,” The werewolf who I have come to know his name is Kyler says, taking Ekaterina’s face in his palms.
What is going on? I think the more I lose blood, the more things don’t make sense to me anymore. Why would a werewolf say such a thing to Ekaterina and protect her the way he did. I mentally open my mouth in shock once I realize why. Ekaterina is his mate. How could I not have seen the mark on her neck when they stepped in? Only a werewolf could have given her that mark. My train of thought is interrupted when my body collides with another person. The person hits me so hard we move across the room.
“Anastasia,” Theo says, holding me. At least I got moved from feeding the vampire my blood.
“Theo,” I mind link him. I am too weak to speak. I don’t even know how I am still alive. I try to lift my hand and touch his face, but I can’t. I can feel my body about to give out on me. I need to be fast and tell Theo the truth. “I am happy I got to see you one last time. I want to tell you something before it’s too late. I never cheated on you, my love. I would never do such a thing to you. I lied because I thought I was saving your life, but I was played. I don’t think I have enough time to explain everything, so once I am gone. Ask my mother she will explain everything. Goodbye, my love, my mate. I love you,” I say and allow the darkness to take me away.
Theodore
Theodore shakes his injured mate’s body to wake her up. She can’t be dead. She can’t leave him when he is so close to giving her the happiness she deserves. He was able to find out the truth this morning before he left. Her mother came in this morning and told him everything. He felt foolish to not have seen through his mate’s lie. He felt like he broke her trust for believing she could cheat on him.
“Ekaterina,” Theodore shouts across the room.
“I am here, Theodore ,” Ekaterina says, running to his side.
“Help,” Theodore says, handing his mate over to her.
“I will do my best,” Ekaterina says, checking Ana’s wounds. They were bad. She didn’t even know if she could still save her after the amount of blood she lost.
“Thank you,” Theo says, standing up. “Kyler,” He calls his strongest Alpha in his kingdom.
“Yes, my king,” Kyler says, standing beside Ekaterina after he finished throwing Ava across the room. His mate trained him well on how to fight fire witches like her. Ava is a piece of cake for him.
“Make sure that witch does not interrupt. I have a vampire king to kill,” Theo says, walking towards Nickolas, who was trying to get away.
The stupid vampire king was trying to run away after killing his mate. He will have to die himself before he allows Nickolas to leave this room alive.
