Bonnie sat quietly in the room where she was kept. Her face felt hot and she knew she had a cut on her lower lip from where she had been hit when she was grabbed. She had cried her eyes out until she didn’t have the energy to cry anymore, so she just sat on the floor with her knees raised up to her chest and tried to think. Her life had changed so much since she ran out on her wedding…. It hadn’t even been up to four months but so much had happened that it felt like years had passed.
Her thoughts drifted to David. She was in this situation right now because she had gotten involved with him, but funny enough she still didn’t regret it and didn’t regret running out on her wedding. How stupid was she? She couldn’t help but wonder because only a crazy person would think the way she was thinking right now. She sighed…. A person crazy in love.
She winced when she thought about Michael. How was he? Was he dead? Did someone find him? The question bothered her and the assumption that he had bled out without any help or anyone around sent shivers down her spine. He had probably died protecting her, she thought, and he barely even knew her. She felt the tears coming again so she shut her eyes tightly. She had to focus at least for now, she told herself over and over again. If this man wanted her dead, she would be already. He was using her as bait to attract David… All she had to do for now was wait since there was no hope of escaping the room she was kept in… and hope that David wouldn’t end up the same way Michael did.
Bonnie sat up when the man who had grabbed her suddenly came into the room. She wanted to move as far away from him as possible but she couldn’t go anywhere in the little room he’d stuffed her in. Bonnie took the time to look at him, unable to hide the hatred she had for him although he didn’t seem to mind her look. He wasn’t a big man, not as big or tall as David, but he looked angry and mean with his beard which was unkempt. He had also taken off his shirt and now all he was wearing was a pair of black singlet and his pants.
Bonnie waited for him to say or do something. When he didn’t, she spoke up. “Please let me go. I don’t know you and I’ve done nothing wrong to you”
The man said nothing. He didn’t even spare her a glance as he withdrew a cigarette and lighter from his pocket and began to smoke. Bonnie almost puked from the smell, but she kept talking and tried to hold it together.
“Please” she said again. “Why did you even bring me here?”
“It’s not about you” came his gruff reply. Bonnie was surprised that he even replied because he hadn’t said a word to her ever since he grabbed her, apart from yelling at her to keep quiet, so she kept talking.
“And Michael…. The guy you shot at my house. Was it about him?”
“No. He got in the way”
Bonnie fought back tears. “And so you had to kill him? He was innocent and he had nothing to do with this, and you killed him anyway. Why would you do something like that to someone who didn’t hurt you? You’re a monster.”
He suddenly turned to look at her and Bonnie froze. The look on his face was scary and there was no atom of kindness on his face. His eyes looked like they had seen a lot of horrible things happen. So horrible that he had no remorse for what he’d done.
“How about you ask your boyfriend about that?” he said. “He took someone away from me and he didn’t care…and now I’m going to do the same thing to him. You can ask him about it when he gets here… That if you get a chance to before I put a bullet in his brain…. Or yours… who knows?”
He grinned and Bonnie fought the urge to throw up.” You are wasting your time. He’s not going to come for me.” she said angrily, although she hoped that wasn’t the case. “We are not together…. not anymore. He dumped me… and he has no reason to want to protect me. He’s not my bodyguard anymore. He got his payment already so you’re wasting your time…. The only thing you should be thinking about right now is how you’re going to spend the rest of your life locked away in prison for what you did. You killed an innocent man and kidnapped me”
“Shut up” the man thundered, then without warning, he struck her hard across the face. The force sent Bonnie sprawling on the floor, and then there was a loud noise of a door being smashed open. The man rushed to her and quickly pulled her to her feet. He stood behind her, still grabbing her, then pointed his gun to her head.
“Guess you were wrong” he whispered coldly against her ear and Bonnie shivered. “We are about to know just how much your boyfriend cares about you, bitch. It’s showtime.”

David reached for his night vision binoculars and trained them on the bedroom windows of the house. The third one from the left had drapes open, which allowed him a view of the darkened room. Bonnie was probably in there -restless, worried, scared.
He knew she was. There was no way that they were wrong. This was definitely the house. He knew the bastard was in there with her. From what he could tell, it was obvious that no one else was in or around the house. He and his men had made sure to check carefully before proceeding, so it was obvious that this was a one man job. This bastard, whoever he was, just wanted revenge for Joseph Saunders.
David felt a bit relieved. He was okay with that. It meant he wouldn’t need much help and no one else would be in danger because of him, but most of all, he badly wanted to face the idiot and bring him down himself. He didn’t even mind if it would result in a fight. In fact, he was fully ready for one… the guy deserved a fucking smack down before handing him out to the authorities.
He turned his attention back to the house, then he checked his watch again. It was time. He talked once on his earpiece, signaling his men to be alert and in position, then reached for his gun.
