Nora became dazed for a moment. After a while, she reached up for the papercup, expressing gratitude to him in a low voice.
Kingsley didn’t reply to her. He went to his own chair, sitting down and continuing reading documents. Nora drank hot water with head lowering, feeling more comfortable. What’s more, she found that the temperature of air-conditioning seemed to be adjusted higher.
She couldn’t help but stare at the man who was working conscientiously. When being serious at work, he was good-looking with his head down. He had a straight nose and thin lips on his face.
Such a man was sure to be a focus of a million eyes, especially women’s. When he was in No. 1 Middle School, he had a big fame and almost every girl in his school loved him. Kingsley had a big family background, possessed cool appearance, achieved good scores and was skilled in sports. He was really perfect. He would absolutely have bright future if the accident didn’t happen to his family.
There were many girls falling in love with Kingsley, such as Rosaline and Vivienne. Maybe numerous women would come into her sight intending to have dates with Kingsley in the future. What did Nora have? She just had an ordinary family background and average-looking. Her intelligence wasn’t high enough especially when it came to the relationships between man and woman. She was so silly, always irritating him. When thinking about it, Nora felt grieved as if she had been punctured in her heart with a short breath.
In the game of love, the one who got emotional first was often the person losing the most.
It was really hard to love someone.
At about seven o’clock, the pain was relieved and her stomach began to growl in protest against hunger.
Kingsley didn’t forget that Nora was going to treat him to dinner. Located in the center of the city, this Western restaurant was on the top floor where you could see the flowing river below.
Considering the ordinary family background, she surely had never been to this kind of high-end place. She was wearing a white shirt, black Capris and flat shoes. To speak well of her, she was pure. But to be honest, she was tacky.
It was her own treat today so she had to show up her good bearing. Nora gave the menu to Kingsley with hands trembled, saying, “You first.”
Finally, she didn’t forget to add, “I haven’t received my salary yet, Mr. Kingsley. Please be a little considerate.”
Kingsley glanced at her, with smile hidden in the radian of lips. Then he snapped his fingers and asked the waiter to come over.
Kingsley ordered her stewed noodles with lobsters and a little dessert.
It was style that could be enjoyed in the Western restaurants. Nora thought she should actually go to eat hotpot rather than these stuffs. But how could Kingsley go with her.
Kingsley had been reading the menu. He looked up at her tangled face, and asked, “What else do you need?”
Nora’s heart hurt, but she kept smiling on her face, saying, “No more.”
Kingsley lowered his eyes and his long eyelashes moved presenting a shadow. He put away the menu and talked with that Italian guy with blonde hair and blue eyes in English.
After ordering the meal, Kingsley looked at her tangled face, which was quite funny. He said, “I should give you a mirror to show how reluctant you are!”
Nora immediately made the adjustment to her facial expression and said, “I’m not reluctant. It’s my honor to treat you for dinner.”
Kingsley raised his eyebrows and sneered. “You really have villain’s quality.”
“No, I don’t have that quality. I’m just a little girl,” She said with a smile and then slipped away before Kingsley had enough time to switch his look.
After washing her face in the restroom, Nora looked at herself through the mirror. Her skin was fair and her eyebrows were delicate but now she looked quite haggard and listless.
As she was in a trance, there came a raised voice behind her.
“Nora?”
