Chapter 36 Win Sympathy by Pretending Weakness

Book:Indulged In Love Published:2024-5-1

Nora Cole’s words were so obscure. Kingsley Baxter didn’t get the meaning and frowned.
Nora said with a long face, ” I…I get my period.”
Kingsley finally figured it out, though he was a chauvinist.
So when answering the phone again, the secretary felt greatly surprised that there really was a girl in boss’s office!
And she was requested to prepare for feminine hygiene products, being asked what should be paid attention to during the “Period”.
As a secretary bearing professional ethics, she decided to keep secrets.
After Nora got cleaned up and went out of the lavatory, she blushed like a red apple, bit her lips lightly and dared not look up.
If there was a hole in the ground in front of her, she was sure to jump into it without any hesitation.
That her period came unexpectedly early really put her to shame.
With a little pain in the abdomen, she moved fingers anxiously. The sweat beaded up on her forehead.
Kingsley got up from the sofa and gazed at Nora. He asked, “Have you finished cleaning up?” In his deep eyes, nobody could figure out his emotion.
“Yes,” said Nora in a small voice, biting her lips slightly. That sense of shame spread out from her body.
What had happened was really an embarrassment. So Nora looked down to avoid watching Kingsley’s face.
Kingsley stared at her with gentle smile. She looked lovely and silly like before.
He suddenly bent down and gazed at her. The hot breath rushed to Nora. “It doesn’t seem that you can do that today. We have to choose another day.”
“Choose another day?” Nora didn’t understand.
Kingsley raised the eyebrows, “You want to do that with blood?”
Do that with…blood?
Nora’s mind went blank, seeing the cool man in front of her. She got nervous and drew back with awareness, scolding him in her mind, “What a cheeky man!”
She looked around. As she just wanted to say whether she could walk or not, the pain was generalized in the abdomen. Her pain doubled up and she frowned tightly with pale face.
“What’s up?”
“I felt… great pain in abdomen.” said Nora, clenching her teeth and grabbing Kingsley’s hand in pain to stand up. She was afraid of being taken to hospital again, saying in a hurry, “It’ll do me good by just taking a rest!”
Not until sitting on the sofa, Nora was aware that she herself was still grabbing Kingsley’s hand. She retracted her hand immediately, just like experiencing an electric shock.
Kingsley retracted his hand slowly, thinking that she made no pretension seemingly. He frowned a little bit and said, “Sit down and have a rest first.”
Nora sat for a while and desired to drink hot water. But she felt great pain in abdomen. Turning her glare to Kingsley probingly, she asked, “Is there any hot water here?”
“It’s on your right.” Kingsley said.
Nora didn’t move.
“Waiting for me to pour it for you?” Kingsley put down his pen.
Yeah. That was just what she thought. Though Kingsley made a really accurate assumption, she thought she should be reserved. Nora clutched her abdomen with hands and said, “I cannot stand up, for I’ve got great pain in abdomen.”
Kingsley raised her eyebrows with half-smile on his face, gazing at her and saying, “You are really good at winning sympathy by pretending to be weak!”
Well, she really felt painful in her abdomen which made her hard to stand up. It was just about pouring some water. Why had it become winning sympathy by that? Nora was in great anger and stood up in a short time.
In a short while, she got light-headed. There was a sudden sharp spasm of pain in her abdomen so that she had to sit on the sofa, took a breath and covered her eyes with hands. Well, let it go. Just don’t drink water. She was angry to the point of liver pain.
“Drink it!” Nora heard a cold voice after a while.
Nora looked up and saw Kingsley holding a papercup with hot water. He stood in front of her still with no goodwill on his face.
