The security guard in the lobby walked over and told her politely, “Something went wrong with the elevator system just now and it was being repaired which may take 20 minutes. You could use the stairs if you couldn’t wait.”
Nora looked at the five large ice drinks in her hands and thought about that the meeting room was on the top floor, the thirty-four floor. Was this a joke?
She was not willing to just sit and wait until the ices were melted which was likely to make her get in trouble with Spencer. She asked the security guard if there were other elevators available.
The security guard looked kind of embarrassed, “Yes, over there, but you need to wait…”
Before he could finish, he saw this girl with two big plastic bags had turned around and ran over there immediately.
There were elevators at the end of the right hallway and it seemed like they were in service. Nora was a bit speechless when she saw the elevator was going up. Then she immediately turned her gaze to the other elevator beside it.
She glanced at it and knew it should be a direct lift which usually operated under special circumstances. And she reckoned someone was using it because it was running at the moment.
Anyway, she just pressed the button.
She stood in front of the elevator, watched it descend floor by floor. It finally stopped and the doors parted.
Sure enough, there were people still talking. However, when Nora looked into the eyes of the man whom was walking out and realized who he was, she felt like her brain went blank for a second and she almost just walked away instinctively while she snapped out of shock.
However, she forgot that she was holding five cups of Frappuccino of which the lids were loose from the cups along the way.
She was panic and her hands holding the drinks flipped over as she stumbled. Then what she could feel was the icy cold as all the drinks poured down her body.
Kingsley’s eyes darkened. He walked to her and caught her by the arm in time, then said in a deep tone, “Why did you run?”
Nora took a deep breath. He was embarrassed and didn’t know what to do.
She also realized that her reaction was silly and there was no need to run at all. What was the big deal about running into him? Besides, she could be cheeky and just went around him as if she hadn’t seen him. And it wouldn’t be appropriate for him to be too hard on her in public, wasn’t it?
But it was always easier said than done.
She gritted her teeth and somehow her nose twitched. She tried to withdraw her hand and intended to leave when she recovered, but Kingsley tightened his grip.
It was not clear whether the other man around was Kingsley’ subordinate or not. The man’s expression slightly changed when he saw this.
Nora’s shirt was all stained with brown coffee and it was so embarrassed. She was so unnerved that she desperately struggled to break free and tried to push Kingsley away.
But she didn’t notice that Kingsley was holding a stack of documents in his hand. He was unprepared and the documents in his hand just fell down on the spot where the Frappuccino was spilled.
The documents were soaked in a second.
Nora gasped and thought that perhaps her doom was really coming this time.
Kingsley knitted his brow tightly the moment he saw that the documents in his own hand had fallen down. He had almost stayed up all night to make notes on the papers, and now they were all ruined, easily and quickly.
However, before he had said anything, his subordinate who already with the “It is over!” written on the face, cried out, “Boss, what should we do now? We have to write a new one?”
Kingsley’s voice was deep with unfathomable emotion as he replied, “You go upstairs and print a new one!”
Then he looked back at the woman standing aside and said, “Come with me!”
While Nora didn’t move, his gaze on her became even more darkened and he said in a faintly displeased tone, “Are you deaf?”
