Nora patted the door with all her strength, “Is anybody here? Please open the door!”
She got a little desperate after several unreplied attempt. Her clothes and cellphone were taken, and she was locked in the dressing room. It couldn’t be just coincidence.
Nora didn’t want to waste her strength anymore, so she found a chair to sit on, thinking optimistically someone may find her tomorrow so that she could get out.
It was raining outside heavily. The windows of the dressing room were broken and the freezing wind came through. Nora couldn’t help shivering. She stood up to close the windows when the light above her suddenly went dim.
A bolt of lightning flashed by, then the light completely turned off with a snap. Darkness prevailed the whole room with a clap of thunder. Cold sweat immediately rolled down Nora’s spine, so she hurried to back sitting on the chair.
The wind was blowing heavily. Nora was sitting in the dark, wet room in thin and tattered costumes. She wrapped her arms around her body to keep herself warm, but couldn’t resist the chill deep inside of her bones. She sat on the chair with her eyelids down, and fell asleep eventually.
It was 9 pm when Kingsley returned home. Rachel had called Nora for many times but nobody answered. She said to Kingsley anxiously when she saw him, “Mr. Baxter, Mrs. Baxter hasn’t come back yet and she doesn’t answer the phone.”
Kingsley raised his eyebrow, “She didn’t come back?”
“No, she went out in the afternoon, and hasn’t come back since.”
“Do you know where she might go?”
“I… I don’t”, there was a bit of horror in Rachel’s eyes, “She only said she would be out for a while, I think she mentioned the movie base. But it’s so dark and it’s raining outside, did something bad happen to …?”
She swallowed her last words because Kingsley was suddenly staring at her coldly.
Kingsley was pressing between his eyebrows, paced for a while and said, “You keep waiting here. Call me immediately as soon as she comes back.”
“Al… Alright.”
Kingsley headed straight to the security room, got the surveillance video and confirmed that she went to the bus stop. Then he called his private assistant, “Get all the security cam records around my housing estate and investigate Nora’s trace. Keep me informed if you find anything.”
“What happened to Mrs. Baxter?” Louis asked.
“She went out and didn’t come back.” There was worry in Kingsley’s voice.
It was raining heavier. It felt like the rain was going to devour the whole city. The black Bentley was sprinting in the rain. When Kingsley drove on the highway, Louis called, “Mr. Baxter, Mrs. Baxter got on the No. 106 Bus, the destination of which is the movie base.”
“Call the person in charge of the movie base right now.”
Louis noticed the anxiety in Kingsley’s tone. He sounded really worried about Nora. Louis was a little bit confused. Didn’t he hate that woman? But he still followed Kingsley’s order immediately.
Nora was woken up due to the unbearable coldness.
Cold…It was so cold…
She had a couple of sneeze, wrapping the thin cloth around her body in the darkness. Her lips went pale and her limbs were so cold and numb that she was at the edge of losing her consciousness. Then in the daze she thought she had heard the sound of neat but anxious footsteps outside.
Who would come here so late?
The horrifying thoughts popped up in Nora’s head one after another. She was so scared that she had suddenly restored her consciousness, gripping on the arms of the chair and hid behind it.
Someone knocked on the door heavily, with a muffled voice of a male, “Nora, are you there?”
