Nora had a good night’s sleep, but she woke up the next morning only to find the man who was sleeping beside her had gone.
She didn’t have a clue about when Kingsley had gone. Nora got out of bed, finished her morning cleaning and went down stairs. Then she saw Kingsley’s mother sitting at the table greeting her, “Come here and have some breakfast, Nora. Which one would you like, bagel, muffin, cereal or scones?”
Nora went to her and took a quick glance around. No, there was absolutely no trace of Kingsley.
Anna was a smart woman and she had obviously discovered what was in Nora’s mind. She explained, “Just some business at the company. Kingsley went there in the morning.”
Nora sat down and picked up a bagel when she saw the implicit smile on Anna’s face, “I happened to notice that he was a little bit tired this morning. Just don’t stay up too late next time. I know both of you are young and energetic, but you should also mind your health.”
“Anna…” Nora felt herself blushing within seconds.
Nothing really happened between them last night. Apparently it was a misunderstanding. But Nora couldn’t explain anything, so she just kept quiet.
After breakfast, Nora sat on the couch as Anna’s company, chatting and watching TV with her.
“Nora, Kingsley doesn’t know how to express his true emotions. He prefers keeping everything to himself and staying silent.” Anna looked at Nora with clear affection in her eyes, “He has locked himself in his room and kept his mouth shut for a really long time since his father passed away. Then he quitted school and took the adventurous path of building his own empire. Now his career has just taken off, and all I ever want is for him to live in stability and happiness.
Anna patted on Nora’s hands gently, “You are a good girl, Nora. Kingsley likes you a lot. He just doesn’t know how to show it. Feel free to come to me if any problems occur between the two of you and I will help!”
Kingsley liked her?
Nora was shocked by Anna’s words. It seemed that Kingsley couldn’t hate her enough. How was that even possible?
But Nora couldn’t say that to Anna’s face. So she simply faked a smile, “Yes, Anna. I’ll keep that in mind.”
It was a pleasant day on Tuesday. Nora had accepted Jonathan’s invitation to be an extra in the movie. The shooting scene was located at the old town in the suburban area. She took a bus there, and she spotted Jonathan waiting for her as soon as she got off . He was wearing a black hat, a white shirt and black trousers. The young man in his twenties was full of the energy of youth and a carefree attitude.
He ran up to Nora at the moment he saw her, “I’ll take you there. Just follow the assistant director’s instruction and it’ll go smoothly.”
“Oh, alight.” Nora took a glance at him, “So what have you been up to lately?”
“Just run around delivering takeout for the whole crew.” Jonathan took off his hat, “Guess I can do nothing more than that.”
“I thought you said you wanted to be a director.”
Jonathan smiled embarrassedly, “Just take it as a stupid joke.”
“Don’t say that. Humans are born to dream. Even the loser dares to dream big. Maybe it’ll all come true one day, you know.”
“Hey, let’s keep moving. You are up for the next scene.”
It was a costume movie. Nora didn’t even know the name of the film due to the remarkable confidentiality work of the crew. The assistant director arranged his assistant to take her into the dressing room. She listened to their introduction while she was getting dressed, and quickly understood that she was playing the role of a maid of a favorite imperial concubine. Additionally, she would be killed with one stroke of a sword by the rebel forces during the revolt.
It would be really easy. She just needed to be careful enough to not get hurt when she was falling down.
Nora was all dressed up, putting her clothes into the bag and stuffed it into the cabinet. Then she sat aside and waited quietly.
But the shooting didn’t begin after a long while. She asked the assistant with curiosity, “Why does it take so long?”
The assistant checked on the time and became worried, “The leading star is still absent. Let’s keep waiting for a little longer.”
After a long time of unbearable waiting, the assistant finally received a phone call. She turned into relief and delights, “It’s ready, you can go to the palace now.”
It was only when Nora arrived at the scene and saw Vivienne Hall in a glamorous outfit that she realize who was the leading star of the movie.
Vivienne was listening to the director and took a cursory glance at the “maids” who had just come in.
Just for a moment, the gaze of her eyes met Nora’s in the air. Vivienne’s eyes suddenly became gloomy at that second.
