Chapter 46.
“I am back darling. Sorry for making things difficult for you and for making you worried for the past weeks.” Ashton said. His voice was soothing and Maya felt her mood calm down from his gentle voice. Just as Ashton thought that she had stopped crying, Maya started to wail again.
Ashton could not fathom what was going on with her as this time around, it was loud and unrestrained. Her tears fell like torrential rain and her voice sounded stertorous.
But to Ashton, every tear that fall on the back of his hand carried a heavy feeling that weighed on his heart, making it hard for him to breathe. Her tears burned the back of his hands like a tornado and Ashton could not help but hate himself for a moment. He drew her into his embrace without a second thought and soon his shirt was soaked.
“He does not want me anymore. He is not coming back to me.” Maya cried heartbrokenly. “You are not real. I am just dreaming. I don’t know how long I will continue to dream. Ashton please, come back to me. I can’t live without you. My life has been like an empty and bottomless hole since the first day you fell into the coma.”
“Please…. Please… I beg you. Come back to me. I promise that I will be very obedient and I will listen and do everything that you say. I will not throw any tantrums.”
Ashton who was on the verge of banging his head on the wall due to frustration, could not take in any more. He immediately lifted her in his arms and carried her back to the bedroom in a princess style.
“Darling look, I am real. You are not dreaming. How could I leave you? How could I not want you anymore when you mean the world to me?” Ashton asked.
Maya who had her eyes closed immediately opened them. When she saw the familiar-looking face before her eyes, she was shocked. She instantly sat up on the bed and stared at Ashton as if she was seeing him for the first time.
“You…. You are real?” Maya asked. She raised her hand and touched Ashton’s cheeks. Seeing that she was able to touch Him and feel the warmth of his skin, Maya revealed an excited expression.
“Yes, my princess, I am real. Have you forgotten about yesterday?” Ashton asked.
“What happened yesterday?” Maya asked with a confused expression. But seeing Ashton’s teasing expression, Maya’s mind cleared and she seemed to recall what had transpired yesterday.
She had gotten scared after she came back from the outside and found out that Ashton was not on the bed anymore. Then someone attacked her, and that someone turned out to be Ashton. The two had then shared an intimate act before they fell asleep.
Her face reddened at the thought of how wild they had been yesterday. Her ears twitched and she looked down shyly.
But the only problem was that, when Maya woke up a moment ago and saw no one by her side, she thought that what had happened yesterday was one of her many dreams that accompanied her every time. Her thoughts had immediately run wild and her brain had refused to think anything.
She slept knowing that Ashton had already regained his consciousness and he had recovered, but when she saw an empty bed after waking up and feeling the cold sheets as if no one had slept on that side of the bed, Maya broke down. She felt that her hopes had been crushed and she did not want to live anymore. She was tired of holding up hope for something that seemed impossible.
Maya did not say anything. She immediately threw herself at Ashton. Ashton caught her and the two hugged tightly. She could not believe this was real. The hope that had dwindled to the bottom of the Pacific Ocean returned.
The sky cleared and the world was bright and full of life.
“I am sorry darling for making you worried. I promise that nothing of that sought will ever happen again.” Ashton said.
”oh my God, I cannot believe that I am actually hugging you and you are hugging me back,” Maya mumbled emotionally. Her voice had turned hoarse from all the crying. Ashton hugged her closer to his chest and just wanted to melt her in his body.
After the two reunited and after Maya calmed down her emotions, the two lovebirds joined Eliphas and Theo in the living room. They had a lot to discuss as Ashton needed to fight for his pack. There was no way he was going to admit defeat to his stupid brother.
“You guys are up?” Eliphas said to the two people who were clinging to each other like they could not bear to be separated for even a second.
“Yup. I feel super fine and completely recovered. There is no need to rest in bed for a few days.” Ashton said.
“Have you felt your other self?” the old man asked again. He did not want to put too much pressure on Ashton so he did not dare say his wolf.
Ashton understood his concerns and nodded with a grateful expression. Then with a sash, his fangs became visible on his hands. “You mean this?” he asked with a small smile on his cool lips.
When everyone saw that, they were happy. Ashton’s wolf had been the most injured during the whole process. They thought that it might never survive, but seeing Ashton slay with his fangs, they realized that they let their mind run wild for nothing.
“Dinner is ready, we’re just waiting for you guys,” Eliphas said. “Ashton, you must be hungry. You haven’t eaten any real food for a few weeks, let us go and have dinner before it gets cold.”
Although Ashton had not felt the hunger moments before, now that Eliphas mentioned it, he felt his stomach growl at the smell of the delicious food.
“Let us go and eat. I can’t wait to taste uncle Eliphas’s delicacy. It must be good because the smell alone is already tantalizing.”
The four people went to the dining room and they enjoyed their dinner. It had been a long time since the atmosphere in Eliphas house has been this relaxed. Everyone was excited and they had a great time together.
On the other end of the world, things were not relaxed on Kelly’s end. Some dumbasses formed an opposition against him. He could not believe that there were still some people who believed in Ashton.
Even after he had racked his brain so much on how to gain their trust, some gullible people still trusted Ashton so much and one of them was his father. He had wanted to kill him after Ashton left because he was the only one who knew the truth about what happened but Kevin had advised him against the idea.
He had thought that he had done a good job at winning their hearts. It had been a few weeks and there was no news of Ashton. His left eye kept twitching and although he did not believe in such superstitious things, he had a feeling that something bad was about to happen.
His wolf was also irritated making Kelly in a foul mood. He did not know if it was because he had not mated with a woman ever since the day Ashton and that witch left, but his body seemed to be lacking something.
Without wasting time, he called Kevin and ordered him to bring him a few women that were good at serving men. Since he was the alpha, he did not have to feel conscious of someone not wanting to sleep with him.
They had come to his door several times, but he would always chase them away. He did not know what had come over him recently.
Every time he thought of a woman and the process of mating, Maya’s words would always echo in his mind, sending chills down his spine.
The woman had looked at him coldly and said the following words when he had brought her to his room that fateful day, “I can make you never desire a woman in a heartbeat. Although you think that you have won, you have unfortunately messed with the wrong people. It is not too late for you to turn back if you still want to have some fun.”
Kelly had thought that the woman was afraid of him and was talking nonsense in a fit of panic. Little did he know that she was being serious.
Since that day, he had truly not desired anyone and even the normal erections he used to experience in the morning were not there.
He had been afraid that he might embarrass himself if called for a woman, but feeling his wolf’s irritable mood, he knew that he had to satisfy him or he might wreak havoc. His wolf was in the heat and if he did not find someone to mate with, he did not know what might happen to the both of them.
