Kelly looked at Kevin with an incredulous gaze. ‘What was this stupid uncle of his talking about? How could Ashton’s leaving be of any good to him? He was about to die from anger and someone was joking about it?’ Kelly felt like punching someone in the face.
Kevin felt Kelly’s gaze on him and the excitement he felt in his heart cooled down. He did not feel good being looked down upon by his nephew.
“Can you hear me out first before giving me such a gaze?” Kevin said. Kelly has never even once respected him as his elder.
“What do you have to say? I don’t want to listen to your nonsense right now!” Kelly said.
Kevin was extremely vexed by his attitude but there was nothing he could do. He even wondered why he decided to support such a knucklehead alpha! He felt that ever since he started being close to Kelly, at least half of his brain cells have already died and he has already aged at least aged a few decades.
“Listen, Ashton has left under unclear circumstances. Everyone knows that he is a criminal and a murderer. He committed treason by killing the patriarch of the pack who was also his grandfather and attacked you, the pack’s new alpha. Everyone knows that what he did vindicates a death sentence and now that he has escaped, you can use that to your advantage.”
Kelly, who had been listening to Kevin half-heartedly the whole time had his eyes flash with understanding. “Please, continue uncle Kevin.” He said in a pleasing tone, no longer grumpy about having his time wasted.
“You can use the opportunity and play the victim’s card. Make the pack feel sorry for you. You have to look like you can’t go on after what Ashton has done. I can assure you that the pack will sympathize with you and everyone will be eager to take care of you. Their trust and respect in you will grow to another level.”
“Paint Ashton as an irresponsible and bastard alpha who could not even spare his grandfather’s life because of his selfishness. We have to plant a deep-rooted hatred in everyone’s heart so that even if Ashton decides to come back one day, no one will be welcoming towards him.” Kevin said his plan.
“Instead of wasting our resources looking for him, you can just offer up a tempting reward. Whoever finds Ashton will be rewarded handsomely. This news can also be made known to the neighboring packs so that even if Ashton turned to them for help, no one would be willing to help him no matter what.” Kevin said.
“Uncle you are a genius. Quickly put your plan into action. I want to see just how far they can run. Make sure that word is spread through the whole of the wolves’ world. Anyone with any news regarding my brother will be rewarded munificently.” Kelly said.
“Okay alpha, I will get it done.” Kevin nodded.
“Also you can find someone to prepare for my grandfather’s funeral, make it as grand as possible, and invite all the packs, be it our enemies or friends. I want everyone to know that I am now the alpha of the ash band pack.” Kelly said. He had to establish his power in the world or else other people might continue to look down on him and laugh at him.
If he wanted to secure his position as the alpha, he had to think outside the box.
Kevin left to carry out his assignment. He never, in his wildest dreams, imagined that Ashton would be able to get past their defenses. No, he never imagined that that little girl was a witch. If he had known, he would have tied her together with Ashton so that they die together.
But now, there was nothing he could do and there was no one to blame. They had been too careless into thinking that they will be able to deal with Ashton in one swift move. He was still as cunning as ever even after not being in the pack for a long time.
Kevin went to spread the news, and like wildfire, it reached almost all the packs in no time.
It was such abrupt and huge news that everyone who heard about it was shaken to the core.
Ashton was a respected member of the alphas’ association. He was young, vigorous, and ruthless to his enemies. No one ever imagined that he will actually abandon his pack and upon his return, he would immediately slay his grandfather.
Everyone had a different opinion when they heard the news. Those who had always been displeased by Ashton and hated him celebrated his downfall in delight.
Those who were close to Ashton and had an intimate relationship with him had a lot of questions in their heads.
With their understanding of Ashton, he would never do something as stupid as abandoning his pack. They knew just how much love Ashton had for his pack and there was no way he would suddenly ditch the pack he had worked so hard to protect.
“This is nonsense, Ashton would never do such a thing.” One of Ashton’s close friends immediately denied the news that his beta had reported to him.
“Something must be going on. How could someone who has fought so much for the pack now become a fugitive? There is no way Ashton would do such a stupid thing.”
“And killing his grandfather? If he was that cold-hearted, he would have done it ages ago. Ashton was someone who valued family over anything else. Even if hated you, as long as he considered you as his family, he would never lay his hand on you!”
“These are all nonsense. Someone must be trying to sabotage Ashton’s relationship with everyone else.” The one who was close to Ashton said.
‘I was also shocked when I heard the news. I have met alpha Ashton a few times and the love he has for his pack cannot be measured.” His beta echoed.
“His bastard cousin is now the new alpha. I heard that Ashton had left for a few months because he had found his mate but she was sick. After his leave, his brother started organizing a riot and he wanted to take over the pack. He forced his grandfather to announce him as the new alpha.”
“I have never liked that brother of his, to begin with. I had once warned Ashton to be wary of him but he had not listened. I am one hundred percent sure that everything was organized by him.”
“Alpha, there is nothing we can do at the moment, we can only hope that alpha Ashton is fine wherever he is.”
“Okay. You are dismissed. I will see what I can do. I
hope that I can find him before his enemies do.”
