After Kelly left, he went to look for his uncle, his father’s brother.
“Uncle Kevin are you there?” Kelly called out.
“Kelly, is that you?” Kevin asked.
“Yes, uncle. Do you have time to talk?” Kelly asked carefully.
“What is it?”
“Grandpa called me today,” Kelly said.
“Your grandfather? What did he want?” Kevin asked.
“He told me to take care of the pack for the time being since he doesn’t know when brother Ashton will be coming back,” Kelly said.
Kevin looked at Kelly deeply. Although he was not his real son, he treated him as one.
All his sons were useless and they spent most of their time messing around instead of contributing to the pack.
Only Kelly had a promising future since he was more hardworking and talented than the average wolf.
At first, they had even thought Ashton will take him as his beta but when he announced that Theo was his beta, Kelly was devastated though there was nothing he could do.
His uncle Kevin told him to work hard to improve himself and maybe one day, someone will take note of his efforts.
“What does your grandfather mean by telling you to take care of the pack for the time being?” Kevin asked.
He thought that something didn’t seem right.
“Ooh about that….”
“Maybe grandfather is just worried that the pack will be unsettled after Ashton left for a long. You know that some pack members are already dissatisfied, it is just a matter of time before everything is blown up.” Kelly said.
“Okay. What do you need me for?” Kevin asked.
He felt that his nephew wasn’t being very honest with him.
“Grandpa also said that if brother Ashton doesn’t come back in two months, then he will have no choice but find the pack a new alpha,” Kelly said.
Kevin was shocked.
Does his father want to appoint a new alpha? The old man always dotted on Ashton. How can he give his position to another person?
And according to the rules, only someone of pure blood was allowed to sit on the alpha throne.
“I have no idea what grandfather is thinking either, but since he told me to help him take care of the pack, then I will gladly do it,” Kelly said.

“I was just hoping that uncle can help to take care of the pack with me. You know I can’t do it alone. Since brother decided to abandon us, we have no choice but to take up his position.” Kelly said.
Kevin looked at him with an unfathomable gaze.
He was not like his brother Leonard, whose loyalty to Ashton ran down to his bones.
He was a shrewd person who minded about his benefits more than anything else.
He has never been taken advantage of even for one time.
And he was not a child that is why he had already understood what Kelly was trying to mean.
His grandfather had called him out of all his grandchildren and asked him to take care of the pack on behalf of his brother…

In just a short amount of time, Kevin had thought through everything.
If Ashton did not come back in the next two months, he will no longer be the alpha, and if that was the case, Kelly will automatically be appointed as the next alpha.
Even if he managed to come back later, his position will no longer be his and he will be forced to come to terms with it.

“Uncle….” seeing that he hasn’t said anything for a long time, Kelly called out.
“Yes.” Kevin came back to his senses.

“So we won’t be just taking care of the pack, I want my brother’s most trusted subordinates to turn against him. Even if he comes within these two months or after, he will have no place in this pack.” Kelly said.
He felt that he could trust his uncle with his secrets because they were practically the same kind of people.
“I understand. My father, that is your grandfather, has not treated us fairly. Although we are not of the same blood as Ashton and his father, we are never the less his kin. But he has never considered us as such.”
“When Ashton’s father and mother disappeared back then, I thought that he will appoint one of us to lead the pack. But he did not. He preferred to take over the pack as he waited for Ashton to come of age. I have long been dissatisfied with him.” Kevin said.
Back then he was loyal to his father just like Leonard was loyal to Ashton now.
He never believed that because he was not of pure bloodline, it will hinder him from becoming a good leader.
He was the one who helped expose Ashton’s father back then when he learned that they had kept that witch and not killed her.
His father hated people going against his orders and he already knew the fate that awaited Ashton’s parents if he reported them to the old man.
He even thought that Ashton will be sent packing together with his parents.
Not only did he remain in the pack, but the old man also personally took care of him.
Kevin was so disappointed in the old man and never cared about him anymore.
That is why he never cared about the pack anymore.
But Kelly had ignited his passion again.
If he could help him become the next alpha, then he will reap more benefits.
