He had a guilty conscience.
Jessica Lennon hesitated. In the past, she wouldn’t have doubted and would have agreed to it.
But now, Jessica had made a promise to Dolores Flores not to pressure her or set her up with Sampson. Jessica didn’t dare to agree to it.
“I need to call and ask Lola about this matter,” Jessica said, heading towards the phone. Sampson reached for the phone and said, “It’s just a lunch. No need to ask her. I’ve brought my car.”
Jessica relented. She was afraid that Dolores would be unhappy with her decision.
It hadn’t been easy for Dolores to raise the entire family by herself. Jessica didn’t want her daughter to be sad.
“Come on. We’ve known each other for so long, do you still mistrust me?” Sampson stood up.
Jessica glanced at the time. It was only 10 o’clock, not even lunchtime yet. “Wouldn’t it be too early for lunch now?”
“The restaurant I reserved is quite far from here. By the time we get there, it’ll be noon already. It’s not early at all,” Sampson tried his best to convince Jessica.
At this point, it wouldn’t be good for her to refuse Sampson again. Jessica had no choice but to agree, saying, “Have a seat on the sofa and wait for me. I’ll get the two kids ready.”
She untied her apron and went into the bedroom.
Samuel Flores sat at the bay window, holding Simona Flores in his arms. He was teaching her how to draw on the tablet.
Dolores had given Samuel the tablet and phone so he could call his teacher and play games.
Jessica picked up Simona, who was still in her casual clothes and needed a change.
Samuel leaned against the soft cushions, playing with the tablet on his lap, and asked, “Grandma, why are you changing Simona’s clothes? Are we going out?”
“Yes. Your… Sampson said he wants to take us out for lunch.” As she spoke of Sampson, Jessica thought of her son.
Samuel sat up straight, shocked, blinked his eyes, and looked at Jessica. “Grandma, what did you just say?”
Jessica patiently repeated her words.
Samuel put down the tablet and rushed to the door from the bay window. He opened the door slightly and peered through the doorway. Sure enough, he saw Sampson sitting on the sofa with a bandage on his head.
Samuel recalled the video he had seen on Matthew Nelson’s phone. It was about Dolores being chased after.
He had never seen his mother so panicked and helpless before.
Samuel clenched his hands tightly. “Such a two-faced liar.”
Sampson seemed like the right person on the surface, but secretly, he was actually harassing Dolores.
“What are you saying?” Jessica turned around and looked at Samuel, who was mumbling to himself at the door. “Do you want to change your clothes too?”
“No need,” Samuel answered in a cold voice. Have lunch?
No way!
He didn’t want to have lunch with Sampson.
Who knew if this hypocrite would arrest them for threatening Dolores?
Just thinking about it sent shivers down Samuel’s spine.
“I need to use the bathroom.” After saying that, Samuel rushed into the bathroom and locked the door.
What should he do?
How could he stop Jessica from going out with Sampson without letting Sampson find out?
Samuel sat on the toilet lid, feeling distressed. Suddenly, he remembered that he had Matthew’s number and dialed it…
WY Group.
Another stranger was in Matthew’s office.
This man was Matthew’s friend.
Last time they went to the KS Club, he was the one who rented the venue and had invited Matthew.
But then Matthew met Dolores, who was almost raped, and he didn’t go.
This guy still remembered it.
Armand Bernie entered with a mocking tone, “Haha, I never thought that you might need my help someday after you stood me up. What are the odds?”
When he received the call, he thought he misheard.
Matthew didn’t even bother to argue with him. “The evidence and plaintiff are here.”
To file a lawsuit, a lawyer must know all the details of the incident.
He had to establish the availability of evidence.
Armand curled his lips. “This has gone too far. You’ve already hired some of the best lawyers in my firm as your company’s legal professionals. And now you want me, the boss, to personally file a lawsuit for you?”
Huh…
Armand suddenly realized that the person sitting on the sofa in a suit wasn’t a man, but a woman.
He tilted his head and walked towards the sofa, staring at Dolores. “This is your ex-wife, right?”
When Matthew and Dolores got married, Armand was studying abroad and wasn’t in the country at that time.
Later, Dolores left again.
So they hadn’t met before.
He received the news from Abbott Baron that Matthew’s ex-wife, who had divorced him a month after their marriage, had returned.
“I missed my chance last time. This time, I have to take a good look at her, the one that Matthew is fond of.”
And she was indeed impressive.
Armand approached Dolores, but suddenly, his shirt collar was grabbed. “Let’s get down to business,” Matthew said, pulling Armand back a few steps.
As Dolores was being stared at, she twirled her hair to hide her awkwardness.
Terry Holmes was in awe on the side. He couldn’t believe that the CEO of the WY Group was Dolores’s ex-husband.
“Matthew, that’s not how you should behave. We need to talk. We shouldn’t…”
“I heard that your grandma is searching for you everywhere. Do you want me to tell her that you’re here right now?” Matthew let go of Armand’s collar and mocked him.
Armand’s expression changed.
What a threat.
“Hmm?”
“Alright, alright. I’ll do it. Okay?” Armand really wanted to slap himself for having a friend like this.
Armand turned to Terry and yelled, “Hey, what’s your name?”
“It’s Terry Holmes,” Terry replied with a smile.
“Pff… Ahahaha…”
Armand burst into laughter. “How did you end up with that name?”
Terry remained silent.
What could he do? His parents had given him that name.
“Come on, let’s go. Tell me more about it.” Armand was an easy-going and lively person, completely different from Matthew.
How could two people like them be friends?
Terry frowned slightly.
The office fell silent once again after Armand left.

“Is that your friend?” Dolores broke the silence.
“Yes.”
“Is he a lawyer?” Dolores questioned, as he didn’t seem like one.
In her mind, lawyers were strict and serious.
But Armand was so energetic and lively.
How could someone like him be a lawyer?
“How did you two become friends?” Dolores was curious.
Matthew walked over. Just as he wanted to talk to Dolores, his desk phone started ringing. ‘Little Brat’ was displayed as the caller ID.
Matthew had only met this brat three times, but the brat had already “surprised” him twice.
He had left quite an impression.
So he purposely labeled him with that name.
As Matthew glanced at Dolores, he answered the call.
“Hello?”
“It’s me. The bad guy has come to my house. He said he wants to take us out for lunch. I think he wants to capture us and threaten my mom.”
