He pursed his lips, “I’ll find a way to take her for a thorough examination.”
Yan Nan nodded, agreeing with the idea.
“In these few days, the company’s affairs, I’ll leave them to you.” Lan Yu Feng looked at Yan Nan, “If there are any major events, feel free to give me a call.”
“Yes, sir. Rest assured of your recuperation. If there’s nothing else, I’ll leave now.”
Yan Nan respectfully obliged. Turning his head again, he nodded with Zi Ge, who had already entered.
“Uncle Zuo will just leave?” Little Douzi asked with his innocent little face tilted up.
“You’re on a family vacation, and Uncle Zuo is still staying, he’s just an obtrusive light bulb.” Yan Nan stroked the top of the child’s head.
A family?
Vacation?
Both of these words made Zi Ge subconsciously want to retort, but, looking at the child’s gladly smiling face, she was unable to say a word in the end.
As Yan Nan walked to the door, he remembered something and folded back to look at the always-silent someone on the sofa.
“By the way, sir. Ms. Sue has been calling me, wanting to ask about your whereabouts.”
“You handle it.” Lan Yu Feng only replied briefly, his line of sight, however, unconsciously balked at Zi Ge’s face for a few seconds. And she …
Just concentrating his head down in talking to the child, the gentle smile hanging between his features did not weaken a little.
Apparently …
She doesn’t, at all, care …
Suddenly feeling very bored, Lan Yu Feng just waved his hand dismally, signaling Yan Nan to leave.
Yan Nan had already left, and in the villa, only two adults and a child remained for a while.
She was in her room packing while he sat in front of the fireplace sharply building a fire. The child came running out of her room in her slippers with a ‘thud’.
“Daddy …”
A timid child’s voice sounded behind him.
Turning back, he saw Little Bean standing by the couch, seemingly nervous, her little hands constantly stirring the fringe on the couch.
Chest, slightly choked.
The child’s alienation from him could not be more obvious.
Ever since that night when they lost control of their emotions and vented all their anger on their own children, there seems to be a gap between them, father and son …
He, never was good at apologizing, or explaining. Besides, he must be a wolf father in the eyes of his children now.
“What’s wrong?” He asked. Trying not to look so harsh.
“I’m going to go to the grocery store with Mommy, do you want to come along Daddy?” The child asked.
“Mommy sent you to ask?” Lan Yu Feng set the fire on fire, orange flames that blanketed his handsome cheeks.
Little Bean shook his head, “No, it was Little Bean who took it upon himself to ask.”
“Oh.” Still a little lost, he looked at the baby again. “So do you want Daddy to come along?”
“Think.” Without hesitation, the child nodded.
Lan Yu Feng lifted his lips, and a little smile finally appeared at the corner of his cool lips.
Despite wanting to, … the child’s nervousness is still evident …
“Daddy’s not going, you guys go ahead.” His presence was just making one of them uncomfortable as a whole.
So …
Him, why bother?
“Really not going?” Little Bean asked again in confirmation.
Although …
He was really scared of daddy. He still remembers the last time he was mean to him.
But …
It’s so rare that Mommy and Daddy are all together, he just wants to travel as a family of three so badly!
“Douzi, since he said he won’t go, it’s better for the two of us to go together.” Zige’s voice came from behind her. She didn’t even look at Lan Yu Feng, she just walked over and directly picked up the child, smiling brightly at him, “It’s getting late, we can’t dawdle any longer. Otherwise, you should be hungry in a while.”
“Alright then! Little Bean is really hungry.” The child wrapped both arms around her neck.
“Mommy’s hungry too!” The warmth that filled her arms made Zige’s long empty heart finally feel comforted.
“But does Mommy have money?” The child was worried.
“Of course! Mommy was smart enough to change the money right off the plane.” She had learned that she could rely on no one in the world but herself.
So, she’ll do everything in dribs and drabs.
“Daddy’s not coming with us, so do we have to take the car by ourselves?” The child threw out another question.
“Uh-huh.”
“But Mommy and I can’t understand them, right? Will we be sold?”
Oh. He can be such a meddlesome boy!
“Don’t worry, Mommy will protect you well! Definitely won’t let you be sold.”
As they chatted, they walked out of the villa. Left alone, Lan Yu Feng sat alone by the closet.
Tongues of fire, burning and radiating powerful heat.
But …
Inexplicably, however, he only felt an indescribable coolness enveloping him.
Cold …
Drilling, piercing cold.
When Zige came back with the child in hand, the villa was, unusually, quiet.
On the sofa, a long figure lay quietly. He was asleep, but the weariness and haggardness in his expression was unusually clear.
Zige looked on in bewilderment, and actually felt her breathing tighten.
The child did not notice, and was just about to speak when she bent her head and put a finger on her lips.
“Shh. Gently.” She softly reminded the child.
Little Bean cautiously probed and glanced inside, then nodded her head in a good-natured manner and whispered softly, “Daddy’s sleeping.”
“Uh-huh.” Ziggy changed her shoes and carried Little Bean into the house.
“Mommy is going to make dinner, and you’ll be in the hall playing the game console that Uncle Yannan brought you. But, only if …”
“I know.” Little Bean interrupted Mommy’s admonition with a grin, “Provided it doesn’t disturb Daddy’s sleep.”
The words, coming from the child’s mouth, still shook Zige.
This, indeed … is what she wanted to say.
No! Not care!
But it was just professional habit. He was her patient, so such care could not be more natural.
Thinking like this, Zi Ge’s heart in turn was relieved for a few minutes. Into the room to take out the child’s game console, line of sight, fell on the blanket on the bed, thought for a moment, or smooth hand hold in the hand.
Ziggy was busy in the kitchen, occasionally poking his head into the hall. He was still asleep, and the child was sitting in the small spot left beside him, playing a video game.
Occasionally, pull your eyebrows.
Occasionally, Shukaku smiles openly.
Occasionally, read the words.
Out of breath, looking at the child, Zi Ge’s heart was filled with a joy that was hard to describe when it was lost and found.
Dropping her head, she stroked her still-flat belly, and it was hard to imagine that a new life was beginning to be conceived here again.
The eyes, when they fell again on the quiet man, quickly averted …
Between them, it is equivalent to two intersecting lines. After having intersected, from then on … they are strangers …
And, it’s a stranger that goes further and further away …
In this way, it couldn’t be better.
Yes, it couldn’t be better …
When Lan Yu Feng woke up, he saw the child sitting on his side. The warm little body, close to him, made him so engrossed that he didn’t want to get up.
Moving his sleep-sore body, the blankets on his body slid slightly, causing him to freeze slightly.
“Daddy, are you awake?” Sensing movement, Little Bean drew back from the game console. With clean, wide eyes, he looked at him.
“Uh-huh.”
“Did Little Bean wake you?” Little Bean looked at him a little apologetically.
“Nah. Daddy’s full of sleep.” He shook his head, dropped his eyes again, glanced at the blanket on his body, pursed his lips, and asked, “You covered Daddy?”
“Uh-huh! Yes!” Little Bean nodded solemnly.
He smiles a little.
What’s on your mind?
Should have known it wouldn’t be her.
Also, it can’t be her.
“But Mommy was the one who brought it over and asked me to cover it for Daddy.” The child’s words, in the next instant, made him freeze.
The color of his eyes plummeted a few shades deeper.
The tide of the heart, heavily shaken, rippled out in a circle.
“Where’s your mommy?” He asked the child, suddenly in a much better mood.
“Cook for us in the kitchen.” The child pointed to the kitchen.
Lan Yu Feng lifted the quilt, sat up and walked towards the kitchen. In the kitchen, there was a subtle movement, he didn’t go in and didn’t disturb her, he just stood at the kitchen door quietly watching her busy back.
That’s all that matters …
Get too close and you’ll get stabbed by the thorns on your body instead.
“Well …,” apparently scalded, she was carrying the soup and her hand trembled, spilling all the boiling hot soup on the floor. The steel pot fell to the floor with a clanging sound.
The hot soup splattered all over her, making a mess.
Watching this scene, Lan Yu Feng frowned slightly and sank his eyes.
Crouching on the floor, Zige frowned in pain as she looked at her hot, reddened fingertips. The messy floor made her a little frustrated.
It’s all going to be re-cooked.
“Let me see.” Suddenly, a pair of long legs appeared in her eyes. Without waiting for her to look up, her burned fingers had already been grabbed by a large, warm palm.
He gave her a look and ripped her straight up, turning the cold water faucet on without a second thought. Her scalded fingers were shoved right into the cold water by him.
On days like this, the water is cold and a little bit harsh.
Ziggy did come to her senses for a moment, clawing back some sanity.
“What are you doing?” She struggled, to draw back her hand.
“Don’t ask this question every time.” Lan Yu Feng didn’t let go of her hand, but only glanced at her with a faint sideways glance.
They were very close.
Her hand, still held in his hand. The warmth of his body heat caused her to recall the image of when he had once accompanied her to make crabs. Obviously the past was only a few months, but it was as long as if half a century had passed.
Ziggy broke away from him again, moving so much that the cold water splashed onto both faces and hair.
He stiffened.
Eyes darkened at her resistant look.
The water ‘clattered’ and she only felt distracted. Reaching out to snap the water valve shut, she braced herself on the veiled counter and, without looking at him, only said coldly, “Please get out.”
He stood there without moving.
The look on her face added a few chills.
Zige took a deep breath and suppressed her racing heart. After a while, she turned her head to look at him, “Lan Yu Feng, please, keep your distance from me …”
She was a little breathless.
Lan Yu Feng clenched his hands.
She continued, “I’m sincerely begging you to please, don’t get too close to me. Lan Yu Feng, like you said, we’re just a normal patient and caretaker relationship, so …”
She burned her fingers, curled them, and hid them in her palm.
It was hot, like fire.
Fingertips, almost pinching into the flesh.
She lifted her head and looked straight at him, “So leave my fingers alone and leave me alone!”
“Did you cover me with the blanket when I fell asleep?” Without answering her back, he simply asked his own question.
Ziggy froze.
And then she nodded calmly, “That’s right, it’s me. I’m the caretaker, you’re my patient, and I’m obligated to take care of the health of your leg.”
“Just, just like that?” His eyes were fixed on him, giving her no room to evade or retreat.
“Otherwise, you think I’m concerned about you?” She laughed a little, “Would I be that stupid?”
He looked at her.
