Chapter 875: Sophistry

Book:Married To The Most Powerful Man Published:2024-5-1

This man, who actually kept bringing this up. Alice felt that if she kept talking to him, he would only take advantage of her.
So Alice interrupted this conversation in time and changed the subject at once, -Let’s go back first.
Here it wasn’t too far from the commons, and that’s probably why Kennedy was able to find it.
Still, Alice was a little worried; after all, she had left first thing in the morning and, according to the call Kennedy had made to her, it was not known whether he had already done anything.
What if he asked something, then?
And what was she going to say?
Tell the truth?
Alice pursed her lips, thoughtful as she was led forward by Kennedy, she thought for a moment that she wasn’t really trying to hide anything on purpose, and that these would have been Kennedy’s previously lost memories, and that if he really sensed something, or remembered something, then there would seem to be nothing wrong with her being honest.
Kennedy was driving off, leading Alice to the car and running his hand over her to keep her from hitting her head as he prepared the driveway.
Alice was still thinking, when suddenly she felt a warm breath coming towards her, and when she looked back Alice suddenly saw a handsome face in front of her, magnified a million times.
She was startled.
The handsome face approaching startled Alice and she gasped out, -You, what are you doing?
The man’s narrowed eyes narrowed slightly, forming a particularly nice arch, and Kennedy’s lips curved, -Safety belt.
After saying that, he buckled his seat belt.
After that, however, he did not turn away from her, but came closer, his breathing audible.
-What’s all the fuss about?
-It’s nothing.
She averted her gaze and twisted her head in the process.
The next moment, however, Kennedy grabbed her chin and forcibly turned her face so that Alice had to meet Kennedy’s gaze.
-Fuck, what for? -Because he was so close, Alice could see even the fine fuzz on his face, and as she thought of those images from the night before that made her blush, Alice’s heart began to thump against her body again, as if it wanted to burst.
-And you say it’s nothing, why so?
Kennedy lowered her voice, her voice hoarse by several degrees, -are you thinking about the night before again?
At these words, Alice’s face flushed sharply and she reached up to forcefully push him away, -What are you talking about? Drive your car.
After pushing Kennedy away, she turned toward the car window, not daring to look Kennedy in the eye again.
After a few moments of silence in the car, the car finally started up.
Soon the two were back at the house and the first thing Alice did when she got back inside was to take off her shoes and run to the kitchen without even speaking to Kennedy.
If he hadn’t walked so fast that it caused her pain somewhere, she would have furrowed her brow on the spot and then her gait would have become strange.
With what seemed to be burning eyes staring at her, Alice didn’t dare stop, but endured the strange feeling and went back to her usual self, walking into the kitchen and closing the door behind her.
Bang!
Kennedy, standing in the foyer, surveyed the scene and unconsciously reached up to touch her nose at the sound of the kitchen door closing.
Why was she always under the illusion that the door had hit her nose when it was so far away?
Once the kitchen door closed, Alice felt like she finally had a sense of freedom, and whatever she had just been holding on to came crashing down at that moment, lightly touching her waist as she trudged forward.
Placing the bags on the table, Alice unpacked them one by one and put the ingredients in the fridge.
The only thing she did in the morning was go to the checkup and at this point she hadn’t even had breakfast.
It was too late to cook the porridge, so Alice decided to stick to eating the noodles.
Alice lit the fire to boil water and then took the noodles out of the bag, which she had just bought at the supermarket and to which she would simply put the toppings later.
Once the water had boiled, Alice put the noodles in.
At that moment, however, the door clicked open and the sound of firm footsteps came from behind them.
Alice felt her heart skip a beat and quickly regained her composure.
A large hand encircled her waist, the tall man hugged her from behind, lowering his head to rest it gently on her shoulder, he said in his husky voice, -Why didn’t you get more sleep in the morning before you left?
Alice was speechless.
Finally he couldn’t resist asking.
Just as Alice struggled with how to answer him, she felt a touch of warmth and softness on her neck.
Kennedy’s lips lightly kissed her neck and whispered, -I thought you were sorry.
What?
Alice thought she had misheard.
She blinked at the thought, -How could I regret that?
But come to think of it, after what happened last night, she left without a word early in the morning, that made him feel worried.
If the person left had been herself, a soap opera would probably have unfolded in his head.
Alice avoided his kiss and turned around to ask, -What the hell happened last night?
A hostile look appeared under Kennedy’s eyes at the mention of the previous night’s events and she didn’t answer.
Alice, however, asked a little hesitantly, -Wasn’t it your grandfather who told you to come back last night… why…?
Now she wondered how the hell he had been drugged. Did Kennedy’s grandfather know about it too?
At her confused look, Kennedy brushed her hair away from her cheeks and whispered, -Don’t worry, I’ll handle it.
-Before you left last night, you told me to wait for you to come back, and it’s ….
-And I didn’t end up coming back? -Kennedy interrupted her, “I came back even though I was drugged, didn’t I?
Alice looked at him for a long moment, biting her lip.
-Sophismas.
Even though the person was back, but with such a big thing happening, she would be worried too, okay? And in a critical situation like last night, what would have happened if he hadn’t come back? Then there wouldn’t have been …
Thinking about it, Alice then said, -I don’t see you coming back unless it’s Anthony.
-I’m sure I’ll be back.
Kennedy, however, answered her firmly.
Alice froze.
-Even without Anthony, I would have come back.
Alice looked at him dumbfounded, not expecting such a reaction from him. She didn’t say another word, and Kennedy’s hand stroked her cheek.
-You were very tired last night, so stay home and rest today and don’t go to the office.
