Alice talked with Yanis for a while longer before ending the call.
She then logged on to the Carlos family’s company website and found an unread notification message in her account.
Alice clicked on it and discovered that she had received a reply to the CV she had sent.
She was told to attend an interview tomorrow morning at 8 am.
Alice’s mood finally improved when she saw the interview announcement.
It meant she was one step closer to her goal.

The next day
The next day, Alice arrived at Carlos’ office on time. She spoke to the receptionist in fluent English, but to her surprise, the receptionist spoke to her in Spanish.
-Are you Spanish? Have you booked an interview today?
Alice nodded with some surprise.
-You’re in luck, Grupo Carlos is the best group and the staff is well paid.
Hearing her say that, Alice smiled, “Yes, I only applied for the job because of the good pay.
-Haha, you are very demanding. By the way, what position did you come to apply for?
-Secretary’s assistant.
-Wow, you really are to apply for the position of assistant secretary, since that man came, more and more people are applying for jobs in our company. You are so pretty, why are you applying for the tough assistant position?
Despite what the receptionist told her, she pointed her in the right direction, -Take elevator C to the fifth floor, the interview will be held there.
-Thank you.
Alice nodded her head and headed for elevator C.
But the receptionist whispered to her colleague, -What a pity!
It didn’t take Alice long to find the elevator, as it was full of people. She was a bit surprised because they were all young and pretty girls.
Most importantly, they all smelled a lot of perfume.
Alice thought about her pregnancy and took a few steps towards the outside. She stepped away from the crowd and looked at the elevator screen.
-Excuse me, are you Spanish?
Suddenly, Alice heard someone next to her ask this question.
Alice then realized that there was a girl next to her, somewhat different from the girls next to her who were wearing perfume. She was wearing very nice clothes, but she was wearing something plain and simple, and she had very nice features and looked very young.
The girl looked at her so Alice could be sure she was talking to her.
Alice nodded her head.
The girl was pleased and offered her hand.
-My name is Lolita Jiménez, and yours?
Lolita… Alice knew it was the name of the main character in a book, but she thought it fit the lovely girl in front of her.
-Hi, my name is Alice Nelson.
-Great, are you also here to apply for a secretarial assistant position? I’m the same as you, we can go together.
Alice was here for Kennedy and when he regained his memory they would go back to Spain together, so she wouldn’t be here too long.
After all, the Moore Group had a lot of things waiting for Kennedy to take care of.
Looking at the pretty girl in front of her, Alice spoke but pointedly, -You and I are applying for the same position, so there is competition between us.
The girl named Lolita froze for a moment, she probably didn’t expect Alice to say that, but she wasn’t affected by her words. -It’s okay, it doesn’t affect my attitude towards you, because it’s not up to us whether we get hired or not.
Not expecting Lolita’s friendly attitude, Alice smiled politely and nodded to withdraw her gaze.

Alice would talk back to her from time to time.

When the elevator finally arrived, the group of beautifully dressed girls frantically squeezed into the elevator, and since Alice was pregnant, she stayed at the back of the crowd and didn’t fight for the elevator.

Alice looked at Lolita and realized how sincere Lolita was when she complimented her.
Alice was a little embarrassed as she reached up to fix her hair and said, -Thank you.
-You’re welcome, let’s go in too,” Lolita took her hand and tried to get into the elevator.
Alice went in with her.
The smell of the elevator made Alice frown and she unconsciously held her breath as Lolita entered the elevator first, so Alice was last.
But to her surprise, the elevator dinged just as Alice entered.
-She’s overweight,” someone inside said, and as Alice was the last to enter, everyone’s eyes were now converging on her.
All the people in the elevator suddenly looked at Alice and she felt a little embarrassed because she was indeed the last one in, but before she could get out, she heard someone in the elevator start to scold her, -What’s wrong? The elevator is already overweight, why aren’t you out?
-Do you think the elevator will keep running as usual if you don’t leave?
Alice frowned and walked out.
She hadn’t had time to react to the group of women….
It seemed that the people who had come to apply for jobs today were all very hostile to each other and really treated each other as competitors.
Alice stepped out of the elevator and Lolita seemed to feel out of place, so she coughed slightly and followed her.
-I’m fine, you don’t have to be here with me on purpose, I can take the next elevator.
Lolita didn’t get in and winked at him, -It’s okay, we’re friends now, I’ll wait for the elevator with you.
Since Lolita said that, Alice never turned her down again. But after waiting for the elevator to leave, Lolita suddenly came to her side and whispered to her.
-I know of another elevator around here that goes to the fifth floor.
-Come with me,” Lolita took his hand and walked in the other direction.
Alice had to follow her.
The place was much quieter and when she reached her destination, Alice realized that this elevator was different from the one she had just taken because there was no one there.
-We can go to the fifth floor from here.
With that said, Lolita led her to the elevator.
