Zain frowned and looked at the Yanis in front of him, not realizing that she had just let him listen to the conversation on the cell phone….
-You’re not staying with Alice?
Yanis froze and bit her lower lip.
-Alice has Megan with her now, and I’m more interested in knowing if the man they found is Kennedy.
-Right now all I have is that the person has been found, but it’s not yet known if he’s dead or alive, so there’s not much to say.
-Don’t worry,” Yanis hastily raised his hands in promise, “I’ll never say nonsense, I just want to confirm it.
-Come on,” Zain stepped forward and spoke in a cold voice.
Hearing this, Yanis catapulted towards the car behind Zain, and he didn’t know if it was nerves or what, but his head really hit the door with a thud.
The sound was quite loud, and Yanis took a hit, taking two steps backwards and sitting on his ass on the cold floor.
Zain looked back just in time to see the scene, then frowned at her, but still nothing moved.
Yanis felt so embarrassed that she quickly got up from the ground, slapped the dust off her palms, then stood up and got back into the car as if nothing had happened.
-Ejem, that I’m thinking about something, that’s why?
She didn’t say these last words because she noticed that Zain’s face was cold and even his eyes were not warm.
-Sit down and shut up.
Yanis did not dare to speak any more, not even to raise her breath, but to square herself silently and look straight ahead.
This matter was important to Zain and important to her, it shouldn’t have been done like this.
Suddenly, she felt a little annoyed.
Once the car started up, so did the silence inside.
Yanis kept wondering what the caller had said to Zain a moment ago, and what had happened to him now.
He was looking forward to seeing Kennedy soon, if he could see him safe and sound, then Alice wouldn’t have to be so depressed.
“God, you must keep Kennedy safe, Alice’s health is so precarious and now she’s pregnant, she can’t afford this kind of torment.” Yanis held her hands clasped over her heart and continued to pray.
He didn’t know how long the car had been going, but finally it stopped and Yanis poked his head out as Zain spoke coldly.
-Get out.
Yanis shuddered in fear and hurried to open the car door.
This time she moved carefully, making sure not to hit the door, and only after her feet were safely on the ground did she let out her breath.
A man was guarding the door, and who had been looking this way, when he saw Zain and hurried towards him.
-Zain, you’re finally here, we’ve been waiting for you for a long time.
Zain frowned and said coldly, -Where is everyone?
The man looked at Yanis behind Zain, quickly withdrew his eyes and said softly, -They are inside, come with me.
Zain followed him, and Yanis followed in his footsteps, like a crawling worm.
-When we found him, his whole body was covered with wounds, even this face.
Hearing these words, Zain’s steps falter.
The reason he didn’t inform Alice first after receiving the news was that he was worried that those people would find the wrong person, or that what they found would be a corpse, and then they would sadden Alice for nothing.
Instead, it was better for him, as an older brother, to come and see what was going on and then think of a countermeasure. Before arriving, Zain had remained silent, but he was actually thinking that if what he had found was really a corpse, then he would make a quick decision and get rid of it to hide it from Alice.
On the other hand, he would pretend that nothing had happened and be an evil man for his sister’s sake.
Hearing this from the man leading the way, Zain was relieved that the other man said everything, which meant that at least they had saved his life.
As for the bruises on his face?
-Hurt badly?
-Yes, it’s too bad. He fell on a barren hill not far from here, and when he fell, he probably got caught on a tree branch or injured himself on a sharp rock.
-You’re doing very well,” Zain nodded and shot a grateful look at the other man.
-Thank you for the compliment it was my idea at the time he was bleeding badly and then I happened to know a small clinic around here so I had the man brought here on the spur of the moment.
-Okay,” Zain answered again.
Yanis, who was following behind him, was having a hard time listening. According to what this man said, would Kennedy’s face be especially badly wounded?
Wouldn’t that leave a scar afterwards?
Yanis forgot what Zain had told him not to say anything before he arrived and asked, -How bad is his wound? What did the doctor say? Will it leave a scar or something?
The question was really to the point, and the man, who a moment before had been somewhat pleased with himself, became dejected after hearing Yanis’ words.
-The doctor came to see him and the wound on his face was so bad that he said it would eventually leave a scar.
-What? -Yanis exclaimed, “How could this happen?
Alice will be heartbroken when she finds out.
His startled cry drew a stare from the man and some discontent in response to his words.
-That can’t be helped, it’s hard enough to bring him back to life when he’s so badly wounded, it’s unrealistic to expect him not to leave a scar or something.
-But a scar shouldn’t be left on his face -Yanis still felt heartbroken for Alice; the wounds on his body could be covered with clothes, how was he going to hide the ones on his face?
The more Yanis thought about it, the sadder he felt for the couple.
Without realizing it, he lowered his head, unaware that the person in front of him had stopped, so his head collided with him without warning.
Bang!
Yanis’ forehead ached and she took two sharp steps backwards, looking up to see Zain staring at her coldly.
He pursed his lips, with a displeased expression.
-What are you doing?
Yanis shook her head and raised her hand, justifiably, to cover her sore forehead from the impact.
-I’m sorry.
Zain withdrew his gaze.
-Zain, the wounded man is inside, the hospital has instructed not to let too many of us in, so I won’t accompany you inside, I’ll keep watch outside.
-Okay.
Zain nodded, looked up and walked through the door.
