Hearing this, Estelle couldn’t help but sigh and said, “There are only a few days before Grandpa’s birthday. Although the wound on your neck is not deep, it may not heal before that.”
Cristofer adjusted the rearview mirror on his motorcycle and looked at the scratch on his neck. The scratch was in his Adam’s apple and was about four centimeters, looking distinct.
At this time, Christina, who had been silent, took out a band-aid from her pocket and handed it to him. “Uncle Cristofer, here you are.”
Seeing this, Cristofer was a little surprised. “Do you always take a band-aid with you?”
With a smile, Christina nodded, “Hee hee. I specially prepared it for my Dad.”
“Why did you prepare a band-aid for him?” Cristofer asked curiously.
“Mom said she doesn’t have any photos of my Dad. I guess that maybe it’s because he always gets injured when he fights with bad guys that he doesn’t want to take a photo, so I prepared this band-aid for him,” Christina explained.
Cristofer didn’t take the band-aid immediately. Instead, he smiled and asked her, “Since this is especially for your Dad, why did you change your mind and give it to me?”
“Umm, because you are a good man,” Christina quickly said.
“How did you know I’m a good man?”
“Everyone who likes my Mom is a good person,” Christina smiled as she explained, her eyes looking like crescent moons.
Hearing her response, Cristofer couldn’t help but chuckle and nodded, “What you said is quite reasonable.”
“Hey, hey. Take it and apply it to your wound quickly!”
“Alright. Thanks,” Cristofer said, taking the band-aid and using the rearview mirror to cover his wound.
Listening to their conversation, Estelle gently squeezed Christina’s face and said with a hint of helplessness, “Christina, don’t say things like that. Who told you he likes me?”
“I’m not just saying things, Mom. I have a good sense of people, and I can tell that Uncle Cristofer likes you, but Uncle Derrick doesn’t,” Christina insisted.
Intrigued, Estelle asked, “If you can tell that Derrick doesn’t like me, then why did you go to such lengths to discourage him from pursuing me earlier?”
“I thought he liked you. But when I saw how Uncle Cristofer treats you, I realized Uncle Derrick doesn’t like you at all. Their attitudes toward you contrasted sharply. Mom, when Uncle Cristofer looked at you, his eyes were full of love and kindness, but Uncle Derrick didn’t look that way, and there was no love in his eyes when he looked at you,” Christina explained clearly.
Estelle nodded and roughly understood what she meant. ‘It’s normal that there is no love in Dr. Carrey’s eyes when he looks at me. After all, we have just met twice, and he can’t fall in love with me so quickly. As for Cristofer… Although we are no longer a couple, we can be counted as friends. Besides, we have two children. It’s also normal that he is kind to me for the sake of our friendship and the children.’
Noticing the black motorcycle in front of her, she said, “I remember you haven’t ridden a motorcycle before, but you looked like a proficient and excellent rider just now.”
Nodding, Cristofer touched the handle of the motorcycle and said, “Somehow, I had a sense of familiarity when I first saw this motorcycle. I’m a complete novice at riding a motorcycle, but when I rode it, I felt like I had ridden it many times before.”
Hearing this, Estelle was stunned.
‘Is it possible that the connection between Mr. Mysterious and you made the motorcycle feel familiar too, Cristofer? Does that mean you might also know what happened during the three months when Mr. Mysterious and I were together through this connection? If that’s true, it could be a bit awkward.’
Thinking about this, Estelle felt uncomfortable. Suddenly, her phone rang.
“Mom, who’s calling?”
Looking at the caller ID, Estelle replied to her, “It’s Derrick.” Then she answered the phone. “Hi, Dr. Carrey.”
“Hi, Miss Hudson, I’m sorry that I left first and didn’t drive you and Christina home,” Derrick said on the other end of the line.
“I should be the one who says sorry. How is your hand now?”
“It’s okay. I’ve taken care of it. Miss Hudson, I’m calling to let you know that I have some information about advanced care for liver transplants. I hope it can be useful to you,” Derrick said in his usual gentle tone.
“Thank you, Dr. Carrey. That’s very kind of you,” Estelle replied.
“I’m happy to help. Miss Hudson, would it be convenient for you if I bring it to your workplace tomorrow?”
Surprised by the offer, Estelle suggested, “Do you have an electronic version of the material? You could send it to my email, so you don’t have to make the trip to my office.”
Derrick explained, “It’s actually a physical manual I wrote a while back, and it contains important insights I’ve gathered from my years of experience. I’ll stop by your office to deliver it tomorrow on my way to visit a patient.”
“Okay. Thank you.”
While Estelle was on the phone, she had a strange feeling that someone was watching her from behind, and she initially thought it was Cristofer. However, when she ended the call, she realized it wasn’t Cristofer but Christina who had been observing her.
Christina wore a serious expression and said, “Mom, can you please stop seeing Uncle Derrick?”
“But he needs to give me information about your treatment,” Estelle explained.
Christina suggested, “You can ask your assistant to collect it when Uncle Derrick comes to your office. Mom, you belong to Dad only. Where is my Dad now? I really want to see him.”
“He…”
“You want to say he is busy, right? Is he so busy that he doesn’t have time to see me? Yohan said that his Dad was also very busy before but would play video games with him and tell him a story every night. Why doesn’t my Dad even have time to see me?”
Sighing deeply, Estelle said helplessly, “I’ll contact him. If he’s not busy, I’ll take you to see him, okay?”
“Okay!” Christina said happily.
Estelle was not sure if Howard was willing to see Christina. Previously, every time she called him to talk about Christina’s condition, he would hang up the phone immediately. Later, he didn’t even answer the phone when she or Rebecca called him.
For Christina’s sake, she had to try to call Howard again. But when she dialed Howard’s number, she heard a quick, busy tone. In confusion, she looked at the screen to see if she had dialed the wrong number.
“He blocked you,” Cristofer said, “This quick, busy tone shows that he has blocked you.”
