Cristofer’s face remained dark throughout the drive, and he seemed deep in thought. Observing his solemn mood, Eva refrained from engaging in conversation, fearing that she might worsen his mood. However, her curiosity about who Star might be eventually overcame her hesitation, pushing her to inquire with Cristofer after a brief pause.
“Mr. Hans, if you don’t mind me asking, who is Star?” Eva questioned.
Cristofer’s response was straightforward, “That’s Estelle. I need you to go to the Hudson Group and bring her back to the Hans’ Residence.”
“Oh, I see. It’s Miss Hudson.”
However, Cristofer stopped her with a serious tone, “In public, refer to her as Mrs. Hans from now on.”
Eva was taken aback and inquired, “Mr. Hans, you two are married?”
Cristofer confirmed, “Yes, we got married about nine years ago.”
“Nine years ago?!”
Cristofer questioned, “Is there an issue with that?”
Eva quickly shook her head, “No, not at all. I’ll go pick up Mrs. Hans now. Please enjoy your dinner, Mr. Hans.” She then entered the car and drove off swiftly.
Cristofer, whose face had been darkened, couldn’t help smiling.
‘I’ll try to get Estelle back to me and make her become Mrs. Hans again,’ he thought and walked into the seafood restaurant.
Cristofer had asked Eva to reserve the whole restaurant to have a private talk with the car buyer. When he entered the restaurant, he saw a red-haired man sitting in a booth with his back to him.
Then he walked slowly toward the young man and asked, “Excuse me, Sir. Are you Mr. Brown?”
The red-haired man, who was tall and in his early twenties, stood up immediately and said, “Yes, yes. Nice to meet you.”
“Nice to meet you, too,” Cristofer nodded and said with a faint frown.
“Sir, may I inquire about your relationship with Miss Hudson?” Mr. Brown queried.
“I’m her husband,” Cristofer gently responded as he sat across from him. “Mr. Brown, I have a few questions for you. If you answer them, you don’t need to pay the remaining balance.”
“Of course. Your secretary informed me about that, and that’s why I agreed to meet you,” Mr. Brown nodded, showing his willingness.
Cristofer then slid the menu toward him and offered courteously, “Please go ahead and order. It’s my treat today.”
“May I know what to call you, sir?” Mr. Brown asked.
“You can address me as Mr. Hans.”
“Alright, Mr. Hans. I truly appreciate your waiving the balance, and to show my gratitude, dinner’s on me. What would you like to discuss? I’ll share everything I know.”
Cristofer then signaled for the waiter to come over. He ordered a bottle of wine, and Mr. Brown chose some dishes. While awaiting their meal, Cristofer studied Mr. Brown with a smile and inquired, “Mr. Brown, was the Porsche you purchased colored gold?”
“Yes.”
“It was relatively new, with an engine modification and a minor scratch on the steering wheel, correct?” Cristofer asked.
Mr. Brown nodded vigorously. “Exactly. Mr. Hans, is there an issue with it? Did Miss Hudson sell the car without your consent? To be honest, I was a bit surprised when I found out that she sold a Porsche in such excellent condition for only four hundred thousand dollars.”
Upon hearing this, Cristofer furrowed his brow, and his expression grew cold.
Seeing Cristofer’s expression, Mr. Brown grew nervous and a bit fearful. “Mr. Hans, you’re not backing out of the deal, are you? I understand that the price for the car Miss Hudson sold me was unbelievably low, but we’ve already made an agreement, and neither you nor she should back out now.”
“Don’t worry. I won’t back out of the deal. You’ll still have the car, and you won’t need to pay the balance. I just need to confirm the details of the car you purchased,” Cristofer assured him.
“Alright…” Mr. Brown replied, still feeling uneasy.
Cristofer continued, “Can you tell me who sold you the car at that time?”
“It was a man. However, he wore a cap and a mask, so I couldn’t see his face.”
“How old is he?”
“I guess he was about thirty years old then. He’s about your age.”
“What other physical characteristics of him do you remember?”
After contemplating for a moment, Mr. Brown shook his head and replied, “It’s been several years; I can’t remember.”
Cristofer then inquired, “Was he limping or had any visible leg issues?”
“No, he didn’t have any physical impairments. I recall that he walked rather briskly.”
Upon hearing this, Cristofer started to form a conclusion in his mind. ‘The man who sold my car isn’t Geoffrey. So who could it be? Perhaps another one of Uncle Nelson’s subordinates? There were roughly twenty cars parked in my underground garage, and the golden Porsche might not have been the only vehicle sold. Uncle Nelson claimed that all the cars were damaged due to heavy rain, but Mr. Brown mentioned that the car he bought was still fairly new.’
Cristofer continued to ponder, ‘Even if a waterlogged car was repaired and well-maintained, it shouldn’t resemble a fairly new car. It’s clear that their statements contradict each other. If it was one of Uncle Nelson’s subordinates who sold the car for personal gain, why would he instruct Mr. Brown to transfer the money to Estelle’s account…?’
The more Cristofer thought about it, the more confused he was.
“Mr. Hans, do you have anything else to ask me?” Mr. Brown asked. His voice wrenched Cristofer’s mind back to the present. Raising his head, Cristofer stared at Mr. Brown with a serious expression on his face.
Being stared at by him like this, Mr. Brown was frightened and felt uneasy. Then he explained quickly, “Are you suspecting that I have an affair with Miss Hudson? Mr. Hans, don’t misunderstand us. Although she was the seller and sold me the car for a low price, I have never met her, and I don’t even know what she looks like. Moreover, when I bought the car three years ago, I was just a high school student.”
At this time, the waiter came over with a bottle of wine and greeted with a smile, “Here is your wine, Sir. May I open it for you now?”
“Yes, please.”
“Okay.” The waiter expertly uncorked the bottle of red wine and poured it into a decanter. Then, he arranged two wine glasses and placed the cork on the table. “Enjoy your meal. Sir, be mindful not to overindulge; your girlfriend might not appreciate it.”
Upon hearing the waiter’s words, Cristofer looked up and realized that the waiter was addressing him. Slightly puzzled, he responded, “I believe we haven’t met before. You may be confusing me with someone else.”
