“I don’t want money, Mr. Hans. All my family and friends knew I would marry into a rich family, but you suddenly called off the engagement and made me a laughingstock. You owe me,” Mila snapped back.
“Cut the crap. Tell me how much money you want,” Cristofer asked grimly.
“I’m not interested in money. My concern is preserving my reputation. If we’re seen together at the concert and photographed, people will believe that we’re still together and that you harbor feelings for me. Later on, I’ll inform my family and friends that I ended the engagement by breaking up with you.”
“Have it your way,” Cristofer retorted, his tone edged with sarcasm.
“Stay by my side until the concert ends. If not, I’ll make a scene inside your company!”
Cristofer wasn’t particularly worried about her causing a scene at his workplace. After all, nobody inside the company would dare to gossip about him behind his back.
However, the pending deal with the multinational company presented a slightly more complicated situation.
The CEO of that company had a reputation for being serious and formal. The primary reason he had been hesitant to collaborate with Cristofer was due to Cristofer’s unmarried status. If Mila were to cause a commotion at his company, the CEO of the multinational company would likely withdraw from any potential cooperation with Cristofer.
In this case, Cristofer’s gem purchase plan in Africa would be affected, which would affect many orders that the Hans International Corporation had taken.
Trying hard to hold back his anger, Cristofer said in a deep voice, “I’m going to the restroom.”
After saying that, he turned around and walked away, ignoring Mila’s reaction.
When he turned the corner and was about to get to the restroom, he heard a familiar voice.
“For a child, an absent father is no different from a dead father!”
“Miss Hudson, stop being ridiculous! I have never wanted to have a child!”
“If you don’t want a child, why didn’t you use a condom back then? Your child is seriously ill because of you, but you don’t give a damn about her. She will die if she can’t have a liver transplant soon!”
“Is it my fault? No man will refuse a woman who seduces him. It’s human nature. As for the baby, I was too careless and should have taken some precautions. But that’s not my fault. Well, I’ve heard something about you and Cristofer from Rebecca.”
“He’s no different from me. You two only had sex twice, and you gave birth to two children. And Christina’s condition is the same as that of your son before. When your son was also seriously ill, did Cristofer ask about his condition or do anything to save him? Have you ever questioned him like what you are doing to me now? If not, what gave you the right to do this to me?”
“Howard, you…”
“Stop it. I don’t have time to waste on you. You can raise Christina if you want. If you don’t, then just abandon her. Anyway, she will die if you can’t find a suitable liver donor. Her death is just a matter of time. If she is still alive, I’ll have to worry that someone will find out that I have an illegitimate daughter. If she’s dead, I will have no worries. Now, the paparazzi pursue me wherever I go. The existence of that child is like a time bomb for me.”
“How could you say such words?!”
“Miss Hudson, if you don’t leave here now, I’ll ask the bodyguards to drive you out.”
“Then could you at least go to see her? The first word she learned to say is “Dad.” She wants to see you very much. Can you spare some time to see her?”
Remaining unmoved, Howard sneered and shouted, “Bodyguards!”
Soon, several strong bodyguards in black appeared at the end of the corridor and rushed towards Estelle.
Howard pointed at Estelle and said, “Get her out of here.”
The bodyguards nodded respectfully. When one of them reached out to pull Estelle, his wrist was grasped and then twisted by a great force.
“Ahhhhhh!” The scream of the bodyguard echoed in the corridor.
Cristofer looked back at Howard with a sneer and said, “You are really something to treat a woman like this.”
“Mr. Hans?” Howard was a little surprised when he saw Cristofer.
Then, with his face darkened, Howard added, “Aren’t you going to remarry soon? Why are you still so concerned about your ex-wife? Aren’t you afraid that your fiancée will be unhappy about it?”
“This is my personal affair, and it has nothing to do with you. I’ll take her away,” Cristofer clenched his fist.
Before Estelle could say anything else, Cristofer pulled her out of the stadium, forcibly let her get into his car, and slammed the car door.
It had only been a few days since Estelle came back, and she had met Cristofer three times.
Thinking about this, Estelle smiled bitterly, pondering, ‘What a curious twist of fate.’
The first thing Cristofer did after getting in the driver’s seat was lock the car door. After that, he said, “I want an explanation from you.”
“Explanation about what?”
“That child,” Cristofer snapped quickly, “I thought that the child’s father was Mr. Mysterious. But it turns out that her father is Howard. Estelle, you are so popular after we divorced. Tim, Eric, Mr. Mysterious, and Howard all have feelings for you. And you even have a child with Howard.”
“The relationship between Howard and me is not what you think it is,” Estelle responded calmly.
“So, is he just your sex partner? Don’t you know what kind of person Howard is? How could you sleep with such a person?”
His words were so harsh that Estelle couldn’t help frowning in displeasure.
“Cristofer, watch your mouth,” she warned.
“Watch my mouth? If you hadn’t done those things, I wouldn’t have said such words,” Cristofer said in a deep voice.
“Whatever I do has nothing to do with you. I don’t want to waste time talking with you. Unlock the door and let me get out of the car,” Estelle was growing angry.
“No.”
“What the hell do you want to do?” Estelle asked angrily, “We have divorced. We’ve been divorced for three years! It’s none of your business who I’m with and who I give birth to a child for. Did I interfere in your personal life? Who are you to interfere in mine?”
Cristofer sneered and retorted, “Estelle, I was with you for over ten years. And I suddenly feel that it’s not worth it.”
“You’re right. It’s not worth it. We were together for more than ten years, but back then, when I was set up by Gretchen, whom you had just known for a few months, you chose to trust her rather than me.”
Her words silenced Cristofer.
