Chapter 296: Wrong Room

Book:Honey, Love Me One More Time Published:2024-6-2

At two o’clock in the afternoon, Eva drove Cristofer’s car to pick up Miss Wilson according to the address that the HR manager told her.
Since she was quite familiar with Hadale and the Grand Hotel of Hadale City was a landmark, it didn’t take her much effort and time to find it and get there.
After entering the hotel, she took the elevator to the eighth floor, came to Room 0829, where Miss Wilson stayed, and rang the doorbell.
Soon, the door was opened, and a boy about seven or eight years old came into view.
Yohan was a little surprised to see her and asked, “Who are you looking for?”
When seeing him, Eva was also surprised. “Hello, little boy. Is this your room?”
“Yes. I’m staying here with my Mom.”
“Your… Mom?” Eva was shocked, thinking, ‘Miss Wilson is a single mother?’
“Auntie, are you here to see my Mom?” Yohan asked.
Thinking of a possibility, he looked Eva up and down with a vigilant look and continued, “Are you a child trafficker?”
“No, no, no,” Eva said in a hurry, “You misunderstood me. I’m here to pick up… your Mom. We’re going to buy wedding dresses and jewelry.”
While they were talking, Estelle came over. She was dressed in a plain dress with her hair hanging down on her shoulders, looking very beautiful.
“Yohan, who is it?” she asked.
“Mom, she seems to come here for you.”
“For me?”
Estelle walked over, smiling pleasantly, “Excuse me, who are you looking for?”
Her voice was soft when she spoke, and she looked very gentle.
Amazed by Estelle’s beauty, Eva thought, ‘Sure enough, Miss Wilson, you’re as kind and gentle as the HR manager mentioned. Besides, you’re so beautiful. You’re the best woman I’ve ever seen. No wonder Mr. Hans chose you as his marriage partner regardless that you’re a single mother.
“Hello, Miss Wilson. I’m Mr. Hans’ secretary. My name is Eva. Mr. Hans is busy today, so he asked me to go to buy wedding dresses and jewelry with you.”
‘Mr. Hans?’
Estelle’s heart skipped a beat.
“Your boss is… Cristofer?” she asked.
Eva, who still didn’t know that she had met the wrong person, enthusiastically responded with a smile, “Yes. Miss Wilson, the car is ready. Let’s go.”
“Sorry, Miss. You’ve got the wrong person. I’m not Miss Wilson,” Estelle stated firmly.
Hearing this, Eva was stunned and asked, “Isn’t this Room 0829?”
“No, this is room 0826. Room 0829 is located on the opposite side of the corridor,” Estelle clarified while gesturing in the indicated direction.
“Go straight ahead, and then you’ll see Room 0829 at the end of the corridor.”
“Thank you, Miss. Sorry to have bothered you,” Eva said with an apologetic look.
“It’s okay,” Estelle smiled back.
As the room’s door gently closed, Eva scrutinized room number 0829 and noticed that the numeral 9 wasn’t aligned with the rest of the digits.
It dawned on her that the room directly in front of her was actually Room 0826, not Room 0829.
The mishap had occurred due to the numeral 6’s sign being loose and upside-down, leading her to the wrong room.
‘But how did that beautiful lady know Mr. Hans?’ Eva wondered, ‘Well, Mr. Hans has been in the limelight in the past years, so it is not strange that she knows him.’
While Eva was lost in thought, a woman’s voice came from the end of the corridor. “Are you Cristofer’s secretary? I’m the one you are looking for.”
Eva quickly ran over and said, “Yes, I am. Are you Miss Wilson?”
“Yes.”
Maybe it was because Estelle was so pretty that Eva was somewhat disappointed when seeing Miss Wilson, who was plain-looking.
Moreover, Miss Wilson was not kind or gentle at all.
She always looked at her with her head held high.
“Are you a recently recruited staff member?” Miss Wilson inquired with a hint of disdain, her chin raised and her attitude aloof.
“Yes, I commenced my employment with the company today,” Eva replied, nodding and conveying respect in her tone.
“I really can’t understand why Cristofer hired you as his secretary. Even his former secretary is more competent than you. At least she is smart and won’t go to the wrong room. Don’t you know Arabic numbers? Are you a primary school student?”
Being scolded by her, Eva felt embarrassed and blushed.
“Miss Wilson, I’m so sorry. I went to the wrong room just now because of the number on the door…”
Before Eva could finish her words, Miss Wilson interrupted her and said snappishly, “I don’t want to hear any explanation. By the way, who will drive us to the wedding dress store?”
“Me…”
“You? A female driver?” Miss Wilson remarked, her tone wrapped with a mocking sneer.
“Miss Wilson, despite being female, I possess excellent driving skills. I will ensure a comfortable and secure journey for you. You can have confidence in my abilities,” Eva assured.
“I don’t trust you,” Miss Wilson responded candidly. “Send a male driver here, or I won’t go if you’re still the driver.”
Eva was speechless. It was her first day at work, and she didn’t know any male staff members inside the company.
“Miss Wilson, how about I call for a chauffeur service?” she suggested.
“Then why did you come here yourself? Why didn’t you simply arrange for a designated driver to pick me up beforehand?” Miss Wilson snapped irritably.
At this time, someone gently knocked at the door.
Miss Wilson’s expression soured, and she addressed Eva with an annoyed tone, “You’ve arranged for a chauffeur service?”
“No.” In confusion, Eva went to open the door and saw a familiar figure standing at the door.
Estelle had changed into an elegant floral dress. With a gentle smile, she said, “Hello, Miss. I saw a car key at the door of my room just now. Is it yours?”
Hearing this, Eva touched her pocket and found it empty.
‘Oh, my God. I almost lost Mr. Hans’ car key! If I lost it, I would definitely be fired!’
“Yes, indeed! Thank you, Miss! I truly appreciate it,” Eva expressed her gratitude as she accepted the car key from Estelle.
“You’re most welcome,” Estelle responded, her smile intact. “I’m heading off now. Goodbye.”
“Wait a moment.” Miss Wilson halted her abruptly. Approaching the door swiftly, she scrutinized Estelle from head to toe and queried, “Have we met before?”
Estelle also looked at Miss Wilson up and down and was a little surprised.
Miss Wilson looked a few years younger than Estelle. She didn’t wear make-up, and her skin was a little sallow, making her look a little haggard. She was casually dressed in a simple shirt and jeans, wearing a thick pair of glasses.
‘Is this Cristofer’s fiancée that his secretary just mentioned? His taste has become worse.’
People in the jewelry industry all have an eye for beauty, especially Cristofer, who has extraordinary aesthetic judgment.
‘Even though Gretchen is not drop-dead gorgeous, she is prettier than most women. However, this Miss Wilson… is too plain-looking.’
‘Forget it. Whoever Cristofer wants to marry has nothing to do with me.’
Thinking of Cristofer, Estelle hoped that she would never see him again because as long as she saw him, she would think of Mr. Mysterious, and she would feel sad.
