Quinn starts the car, “Have a nap. I’ll wake you up when we arrive.”
“Don’t we go home?”
“After breakfast, I’ll send you home for a rest.”
Yaffe nods but she doesn’t take a nap. .
Quinn doesn’t talk to her any more. He drives the car quietly.
Yaffe keeps silent for a while, saying, “The rescue of the owner of Chery is not valid. He died. The other two passengers are still in danger. Their situation is not optimistic.”
With his left hand on the steering wheel, Quinn stretches out his right one, gently catching her soft hands, “Not your mistake.”
“Rich Man, am I unreasonable? I know doctors are not God and we can’t cure everyone. But I still feel sorry for it. I think I’m unreasonable.”
“No, you’re good. It’s weird if you’re not sad.”
“I think so.”
Pinching her hands, Quinn says, “After breakfast, I’ll take you to the seaside for a walk.”
“Why?”
“Since the first day of our marriage, Willouphy exists in our life. You don’t get used to it right now. I think maybe we’d better spend more time without Willouphy.”
Yaffe looks at his side face in surprise. She gives an innocent smile and gently seizes Quinn’s hands.
**
The restaurant Quin picks out is located at the seaside.
At the moment the sun is rising above the horizon.
The shining sun light glitters the sea. With the moving waves, the sea is perfectly beautiful.
They sit in the above-sea platform built by the restaurant, enjoying the delicious breakfast and the gorgeous view.
The vast sea view without blocks makes people unconsciously broad-minded.
Yaffe finishes fried noodles in an unladylike manner to fill her empty stomach. Then she tastes cookies slowly and looking far.
She indulges herself chatting with Quinn, “Rich Man, why can you unlock the car with iron wires? I find you know everything, why?”
“I used to be keen on Extreme Sport and Outdoor Adventure. At that time, I usually met different situations.”
“You stop them because of your brother and sister-in-law’s death?”
“Their death made me realize that my brother bore a lot of unknown pressures to protect me. Since he passed away, I should take the responsibility, to make Sabrina, grandparents and parents live in my protection.”
Sabrina’s pregnancy comes into Yaffe’s mind. She doesn’t know what if Quinn knows Sabrina’s pregnancy without marriage.
Thinking for a while, Yaffe says, “Rich Man, if, I mean it’s only a hypothesis. Suppose Sabrina gets pregnant without marriage, what will you do?”
Quinn gazes at her, feeling confused, “Why do you suppose it?”
“I always look for Rowie in Obstetrics and Gynecology Department and see girls who are pregnant without marriage. Most of their parents don’t support it. I’m curious about your family members’ opinion.”
“Abortion!”
“Why?”
“We don’t think an unhappy family can raise a good descendent. Pregnancy without marriage of course doesn’t affect our family as our wealth and social position have a solid foundation. The kid won’t be criticized for living in a single-parent family. But giving birth to a kid in such situation is selfish. In my opinion, without kids’ permission, it’s selfish for adults to give birth to them, let alone they can’t afford a harmonious family. This is even worse.”
“But…”
Quinn sips coffee, looking far, “Of course it’s my personal opinion. I think pregnancy without marriage is what losers use to comfort themselves. They have no courage to strive for love but imagine getting a man’s heart with a kid or use the kid to satisfy their pitiful delusion. The kid won’t be happy.”
Yaffe feels speechless for a moment, but she can’t find any words to deny his.
“Is abortion the best solution?”
“Women have to take many risks for abortion and as a man I can’t experience it. But I do think it’s a good choice for a woman to have an abortion instead of living with a kid or starting a new love with a kid. If a woman holds the opinion to win a man with the kid, I think she’s silly. She might get marriage, but she and her husband’s positions in the marriage are imbalanced.”
“Do all men think so?”
“Quite different from women’s?”
“Yes.” Yaffe nods.
“Not all men have the same opinion as me, but the man of my social class agree with me. We don’t respect women who impose marriage on us with tricks. Unlike some women’s love stories, it’s impossible for us to love them after marriage. Compared with men in other social classes, we face more tempts. There are countless excellent, pretty women who truly love us and we don’t need to leave our hearts to them. Generally speaking, after marriage, we just leave them at home. It’s not good for women and kids. In such situation, do you think, kids will be brought up well?”
Yaffe is surprised. She rubs her face, “You make me speechless.”
“Let’s go. I’ll bring you for a walk. After digestion, I’ll send you home for a sleep.”
Yaffe follows Quinn to slowly walk on the beach. Again and again what Quinn said just now repeats in her mind.
She wants to talk with Sabrina. After all, Quinn knows more about rules in rich and powerful families.
…
After digestion, they pack some food as Willouphy’s breakfast and then leave for the villa.
Seeing the food, Willouphy grins all over.
Yaffe kisses his tender face, “Babe, eat it yourself. I need to have a sleep. I’ll accompany you this afternoon.”
Willouphy kisses her as well and watches her going upstairs contently.
After taking a bath, Yaffe applies a facial mask.
She reads the time. Sabrina should have got up. She dials her number.
Sabrina picks up the phone quickly, “Yaffe. What’s up for calling me so early?”
“I wanna tell you something.” Yaffe repeats what Quinn said just now to Sabrina.
Sabrina says nothing.
Yaffe says, “Sabrina, I didn’t mean to reveal your secret. I just wanna know your brother’s idea. If you think I did it wrong, you scold me, please. But after his analysis, I think it makes sense.”
Sabrina scratches her head, “Yaffe, thank you very much. Actually your question has made him realize what happens to me. He might be on the way here.”
“I’m terribly sorry.”
“Never mind. I know you didn’t do it on purpose.” Before Sabrina finishes the words, someone knocks on the door, “You see. He’s arrived.”
Unconsciously Yaffe’s palms get sweaty. “What should you do? Don’t open the door. Pretend you hear nothing.”
