Quinn rolls his eyes at her. He finds that her thinking is so wired that he can’t assess it normally.
Isn’t it wired to talk about her ex to him?
Yaffe rubs her face and continues, “That was probably the most serious crisis I had ever faced. I used to be excellent with good grades and pretty appearance, I could have been the school beauty. But I blindly fell in love with a scum, and gave him my precious chance to go abroad and the 200, 000 RMB bank card my parents gave me only to use when I turned 20. As a result, he abandoned me as soon as he was abroad and crushed my girlhood. You wouldn’t know how hard it was for me at that time. Although my parents didn’t blame me, the surrounding relatives, classmates, friends and teachers all regarded me as an idiot, they gossiped about me everyday. Then I went abroad angrily to look for him for an explanation.”
When Yaffe says this, her eyes are suddenly filled with tears.
She covers her eyes with her palms and says, “He didn’t even dare to see me but sent Quaneisha Ye to deal with our problems.”
“So this was the reason why you didn’t fall in love with anyone for years and refused my proposal? It was all because of Zeow?”
“He has smashed my trust in others and I once doubted the way I looked at people.” Yaffe is interrupted by Quinn’s word. She gets rid of self-pity and sniffs, “Besides, I was just a small citizen who lived at the subsistence level, when the most famous rich man in Chandely proposed to me, it was normal reaction to run away.” She says.
“But you didn’t manage to run away in the end.”
Yaffe giggles and feels less painful in her head. She adds, “What about you? Did you have a special ex-girlfriend? You must have had a bunch of ex-girlfriends. How did I defeat them and become your wife?”
“Who told you that I had a bunch of ex-girlfriends?”
“”How can’t you not have a bunch of ex-girlfriends when all those second-generation riches who don’t look good do?”
“Are there any necessary connections between the two? Many second-generation rich even take drugs or fights, should I also do them?”
“Well, you’re right.”
Quinn pats her hairy head, saying, “Sleep for a while, I’ll wake you up when we arrive at home.”
“Hmm.” Yaffe’s voice is so nasal that she feels she is going to be sick.
“Do you only have previous three-day off for New Year’s holiday?”
“No. Now all the doctors have resumed work, so those who were on shift in New Year’s holiday are allowed to take a holiday at any time.”
“Then have a good rest tomorrow and don’t go to work.”
“OK.” Yaffe replies in a low voice and closes her eyes.
**
As expected, Yaffe catches a cold and has a fever in the mid-night. Her head is throbbing and her throat is so dry and sore that she wants to cry.
When she tries to lean to another side, a broad and thick palm places on her forehead, “Don’t move, you’re still having a fever.”
She nods her head.
Seeing her suffering, Quinn sits down on the bed and helps her up to feed her some water.
The lukewarm water comforts her throat a bit. Since it is already dawn, Yaffe asks in a husky voice, “Where’s Wiphy?”
“He’s having a class in the study room.”
“And my mom and dad? They should come back today.”
“I received a phone call from your mom, she said she will come here later.”
“I’m done. I’ll be mocked by her.”
Quinn touches her sweaty face, saying, “For being sick?”
“You don’t know her. Her bark is worse than her bite.” Yaffe moves her arms only to find they are aching and feeble.”
“Drink some porridge first, it’s not easy to recover with an empty stomach.” says Quinn.
Yaffe agrees. She takes the bowl of porridge from him and drinks it slowly.
Looking at her pale face, Quinn feels soft inside.
She is becoming more important not only to Wiphy but also to himself.
The roar of a woman comes just as Yaffe is drinking porridge, “Yaffe!”
Yaffe almost throws her bowl away. She responds weakly, “I’m upstairs!”
In no time, the sound of scuffling footsteps comes from downstairs.
Monismith Lo runs in and feels her forehead anxiously. She feels relieved to know that Yaffe no longer has a fever, “Can’t you take good care of yourself?” She says.
“Just an occasional illness. It’s OK. Mom, you’re becoming prettier now.”
“Stop flattering me. What do you want to eat? I’ll cook for you.”
“Thank you so much. Just cook all your specialties.”
“No way.” Monismith pokes her head in a bad way, “Do get well quickly and don’t infect my little grandson.”
“Mom, you’d better go to the kitchen. I can’t stand your criticism.”
“Don’t pretend.” Monismith snorts and goes downstairs.
Quinn looks at their funny interaction.
After her mother leaves, Yaffe moves her aching and feeble arms and says, “I want to take a shower.”
“Doctor Qin, don’t you know that people who have a fever can’t take a shower?”
“But I smell like beer.”
“Last night I have helped you clean your body.”
“OK.” Then Yaffe thinks about it and realizes something wired, she quavers out, “You… you helped me? You took advantage of my being drunk and peeked at my hot body?!”
“You mean your flat-breast body?” Quinn can’t believe it.
Yaffe hugs the quilt and looks at him for a moment, then buries her face with the quilt, saying, “So embarrassed.”
Quinn doesn’t know what to say.
He holds the belief that his IQ will drop dramatically if he spends more time with her.
After Quinn leaves the room, Yaffe pokes her head out of the quilt, looks at her pajamas secretly, and touches her breasts with an obscene expression.
Then she gets up to call Rowie to check her situation.
It sounds like that she doesn’t have a fever or feel uncomfortable, instead, she is more energetic than yesterday.
Yaffe puts on home-wear and goes downstairs when Monismith and Lara have already finished all the dishes.
There is also a mini cake for everyone.
“Mom, I love you.”
“Go away, I hate it when you call me mom.”Monismith shouts ferociously.
Yaffe immediately goes away to find Yannick Qin.
Yannick is chatting with Quinn in the living room, he reaches out to feel her forehead when she comes and says, “Still a bit hot.”
“Dad, your dear daughter’s health is declining.”
“That’s because you lack exercise. You should get up early and exercise with Quinn and Wiphy.”
“I will.” Yaffe lays her head on his shoulder idly and asks, “Dad, was there anything interesting in the New Year’s holiday?”
“No. Just more people and more boisterous. Jarre has been admitted to Quinn’s company as an intern.”
“Quinn, will this bring you any trouble?”
