“I was cheated since young. I used to think doctors were sacred and decent; however, since the first day when I became a doctor, I found it was really tough. In addition to heavy load of work, you have to fight a battle of wits and courage with patients and their relatives. Life is interesting. You never know what will happen in the next second. How exciting it is.” Yaffe pauses for a while and adds, “Although it’s not that good, I will still choose to be a doctor if I’m given another chance to choose my job. Without being close to death, diseases and pains, you’ll barely have a deep understanding of how precious the life is.”
Quinn looks at Yaffe deeply.
The woman looks up at him seriously. The expression in her eyes is clear and flexible. She has an innocent vibe that usually is gone at her age.
The rosy and delicate lips are slightly open as if they are inviting his kiss.
Quinn withdraws his thoughts, asking casually, “Have you come across something special after being a doctor?”
Seeing Quinn take back his gaze from her, she feels relaxed secretly, “Many. But the most impressive one happened before I became a formal doctor. At that time Dean and I accepted an emergency treatment. It was a car accident. The truck rolled over a motorbike. When we arrived at the site, the encoffiner had been there. The motorbike driver’s body was flattened and stuck on the road, so it was hard to take the body back. His head and arms were knocked into the air, hanging on the street lamps. The encoffiner then used the shovel and knife to scrape it and put it into the plastic woven bag. Dean asked me and the encoffiner to climb the street lamps to get his head and arms. After bringing them back, we put the pieces together at the accidental site but finally we found one eyeball missing. We looked for it everywhere and it took us 2 hours to find it in the green belt.”
Quinn imagines it in the mind, thinking it is more like a horror film.
“I followed the encoffiner to the undertaker’s, watching him restoring the body. It took him a whole night and then his families were allowed for the farewell ceremony. After restoring, the dead motorbike driver was totally different from what he looked like before. Before, he was rotten meat, but after restoring he was completely a man with arms and legs. If other encoffiners were responsible for it, the driver must be rotten meat with a head and arms. Laying a body in a coffin was enough and whether the body lacked one eye or not was none of their business. But the encoffiner I met insisted on finding his eyeball, trying to make him leave the world with a whole body. He thought it was his vocational bottom line and morality. When one finished his life, he wanted to try his best to help him. That motorbike driver was only one of the dead people in his long career life. That encoffiner had seen different dead men and rotten meat was a small case, but one could only die for once, so he didn’t want to treat it casually. Because of him, I think whatever job I do, at least I should have the vocational morality. Besides, I should try to improve my professional skills to the mediate level of the industry so that I can influence more people.
Looking at her shining face, Quinn wanted to pinch it, “As far as I know, it’s hard for doctors to get promoted. It’ll take you quite a few years to get promoted from attending doctor to associate chief physician.”
“Yes. In addition to excellent skills, rich experiences and passing the exam, a number of articles on SCI are necessary. So it’s quite difficult. But it explains why many doctors leave public hospitals to have their own clinics after obtaining the certificates and skills of practicing medicine alone. They can earn more and have freedom.”
“What’s your plan? If you want, I can help you.”
“I have no such plan. At least before Dean retires, I’ll stay at the hospital. He has many skills that I don’t have. I wanna learn from him. When he doesn’t want to teach me, I’ll consider other ways.” Yaffe gives Quinn a shiny smile, “Rich Man, thanks. Your support behind me provides me more resources, which is much better than my single hard work.”
Quinn can’t help pinching her tender face, “Are you satisfied by this?”
“That’s enough. Without proficient skills, even if I get support from others, I have no courage, which will be quite embarrassing.” After saying so, Yaffe stands up and brings the plates into the kitchen.
Watching her hobble into the kitchen, Quinn finds she can easily catch his attention
A woman owns both correct viewpoints and childish characteristic. What a combination?
But he can’t move his eyes from her.
**
The next day.
Yaffe feels dopey and drowsy when she feels a kid is in her arms.
She opens her eyes and sees a little fluffy head leaning on her arms that sleeps off his excesses.
She doesn’t move but watch Willouphy’s exquisite facial features silently.
She has to say gene is powerful.
Even though Willouphy is not Quinn’s son, his facial features are greatly similar to Quinn’s as if they are from the same mode.
They have blood ties and live together for a long time, so it is not impossible that they look alike.
Yaffe touches his tender face, “Babe, you’d better get up.”
Then Willouphy opens his eyes, exhausted. He looks at Yaffe at a loss.
After seeing who she is, his little arms hold around her gently.
“I have a taste of medicine. Why did you sleep with me?”
Willouphy doesn’t mean to type.
She stops asking him and holds him back up.
Willouphy puts on clothes consciously and goes to wash his face and rinse his teeth.
Yaffe hobbles to the changing room inside the bedroom and finds many women’s dresses that are not sealed off.
She takes some and finds they are all her size.
Then she feels jealous of rich people’s life in her heart. How happy their life is!
At the moment, the sound of footsteps from behind comes to her ears.
Quinn says, “Your wounds haven’t healed. Wear casually.”
“Did you buy them?”
“I have them sent here overnight.”
“Rich man’s world makes poor people jealous.”
“Don’t be modest, Wealthy Woman with 200 million.”
Yaffe bursts into laughter, “You’re right. Get out. I wanna put on clothes. People off duty are not allowed.”
“If I’m not here, what if you fall onto the ground and become disabled?”
“No curses, please. Get out and turn right, thank you.”
Quinn leaves and closes the door with a smile.
Yaffe puts on the clothes with difficulty and then leaves the room with her hands on the wall.
Willouphy has finished washing his face and rinsing his teeth and Quinn is helping him put on the hoodie.
It is not easy for kids to put on hoodies themselves. They usually find it hard to get their heads out of the hoodie.
And kids easily cry and scream because their eyes are blocked.
Without looking back, Quinn says, “Wash your face and rinse your teeth. I’ll send you to the hospital.”
“I feel good right now. Don’t be exaggerated.”
“A check is necessary.” Quinn’s tone shows his determination.
Yaffe doesn’t insist. She hobbles into the bathroom.
