Chapter 56 Do You Dislike Me

Book:Crush on You Published:2024-5-1

During the morning meeting, Yaffe sneezes several times in a row, causing the leaders and colleagues around her to all look at her.
She sniffles and wonders whether it is because of someone talking behind her back or a cold.
The director says, “Next, we’ll have Professor Zahi talk about our plans until the end of the year.”
Zahi nods and continues the conversation, “My laboratory is well prepared. There are still a few spots available for assistant doctors. Doctors and assistant doctors who want to transfer can sign up. Work officially starts after the New Year, so everyone has enough time to think about it. That is all I wanted to say.”
The director glances at Yaffe.
Yaffe says, “I’ve already planned out my work and sent the spreadsheet to my colleagues in the department. I couldn’t go into details, so I only made a rough plan. I have to cooperate with other departments depending on when they have operations. When there aren’t any operations or work, I’ll timely assign something new. Please rest assured.”
“Okay, we’ll leave it at that. Stay behind, Dr. Yaffe. Everyone else can leave.”
Everyone leaves. And soon, only Yaffe, Zahi, and the director are left in the meeting room.
The director says, “You know that things come up at our hospital anytime. From time to time, we introduce new policies that other hospitals do not have so the newcomers can become experienced, especially for attending physicians that are above graduate level. This year’s new policy is that attending physicians that are above graduate level have the opportunity to work in each department. Do you want to gain some experience from working in other departments?”
Yaffe is silent for a while and says, “I thought about this before, but I don’t want to for now.”
Zahi is puzzled. “Why?”
Yaffe quickly understands why Zahi is staying behind. It turns out that he wants her to join the CCVDs laboratory.
The laboratory is where scientific research happens, unlike the clinical practise that she is doing now.
“Thank you, Professor Zahi, for giving me lots of opportunities to learn about CCVDs. After learning about them, I found that I still need to work on my basic knowledge. I can handle my job with my current abilities, but my skills still need improvement and I also noticed many of my weaknesses during the operation. I don’t want to start something new when I haven’t mastered what I am currently doing. It would only be a waste of Professor Zahi’s time and efforts. I won’t be able to quickly and skillfully master CCVDs procedures.”
There is a look of regret on Zahi’s face, but he still smiles and says, “Director Huang, you are right. Dr. Yaffe is only focused on one thing. I’ll have to pick another doctor.”
Zahi leaves after packing up.
Yaffe squints at the director who is smiling like a weasel. “Director, I’m loyal to you. Reward me.”
“Cut it out. Just say it if you can’t be bothered to change departments. You are giving yourself too much credit.”
“How can that be? I was afraid that it would look bad on you if I went to Professor Zahi. What am I going to do when you make things hard for me in front of the leaders in the future? For my career, I have to be on the same side as you no matter what.”
“Yaffe, you don’t respect your teacher anymore now that you got married to a powerful man, huh?” The director hits the table.
“I don’t dare. If you tell me to go east right now, I definitely won’t go west.”
“Go away! Move your butt. How annoying!”
“I’m leaving right now.” Yaffe grabs her notebook and pen and skips around as she leaves.
The director looks at the empty meeting room and smiles.
Yaffe’s decision makes him more satisfied with her.
On the surface, Youndgon Hospital’s new policy gives new doctors a chance to gain experience, but it is actually a hidden trap.
If the new attending physician changes positions, their current supervisor will not be happy because it will be a slap in the face, regardless of how they perform on the job.
Most people won’t think that the new attending physician is moving to a department in order to develop their career. Instead, they will think that it is because the new attending physician can no longer bear working with their current supervisor.
If that happens, the relationship between the new attending physician and their previous supervisor will no longer exist and the new attending physician may not be able to continue working in the hospital.

Yaffe returns to the office and says to Anne, “Anne, do you want to transfer? You’ll have more opportunities to learn if you worked under Professor Zahi than me. You’ll also be able to meet more people.”
Anne is not happy. She hits the table and yells, “Do you dislike me for being noisy or not doing work?”
“Did I think that way?”
“Otherwise, why are you driving me away so aggressively?”
“I’m thinking about your future.”
“I don’t want to. Don’t even think about driving me away or having a new assistant doctor. I’m not going anywhere even if I die!”
Yaffe’s brain hurts because of Anna’s yelling. “If you don’t want to transfer, then don’t. Stop yelling. If other departments hear this, I’ll look bad.”
Anna stares at Yaffe bitterly. “If you think that way again in the future, I will add crotons in your coffee.”
“From today onwards, I will stop drinking coffee.”
Anne. “…”

Today’s work is fairly easy. Apart from studying cases and films with doctors from other departments, there is no surgery planned.
Perhaps it is because Spring Festival is approaching. Patients who get surgery now will have to spend their Spring Festival in the hospital.
So, this is a relatively relaxing period of time for the surgical department.
In the afternoon, Yaffe packs up her belongings before getting off work. She plans on cleaning the house with her mother so they can welcome her father tomorrow.
As soon as she enters the elevator, she hears her phone ringing.
It is the director.
“Hello, director.”
“Come back, there is an emergency. You need to observe the operation.”
“Okay.” Yaffe rushes out when the elevator reaches the next floor, runs upstairs quickly, and changes into her white coat.
Since the director wants her to observe the whole operation during her off-duty hours, it must be an operation that is worth studying.
She must pay attention.
Yaffe quickly enters the operating room. What surprises her is that aside from the director, several hospital leaders are there as well.
She nods at the hospital leaders behind her mask and then stands back to observe the operating table.
When she sees the face of the person on the operating table, she cannot help but feel stunned.
It is Lorin Mo.
He is a famous celebrity who is both skilled and handsome. He has won all kinds of awards since entering the entertainment industry.
Her mother, a shameless middle-aged woman, is his loyal fan. She even brings the tablet to the dining table when his drama airs. Death awaits whoever dares disturb her as she looks like the handsome man.
At this moment, Lorin’s face and the left half of his body are covered with blood. It looks extremely scary.
This operation is being performed by the dean and the director personally.
The dean is over sixty years old. His medical skills are very famous in the medical field, especially his repair and plastic surgery techniques, which are world ranked.
But he has stopped performing surgery in the past few years. He is performing surgery for Lorin this time because of the connections that Lorin has.
Until the dean carefully wipes off the blood stains on Lorin’s face, everyone finally learns of how badly he is hurt.
His bones can be seen from the wound on his left cheek.
Scars will definitely be left behind if a different doctor is performing the surgery.
Yaffe cannot help but feel lucky for Lorin.
It would be a pity if his face is scarred.
